  1. wow looks cool. cant wait to see this one done. T
  2. wooo! happy birthday maiden. have a good 1... and dont drink too much! T
  3. wow congratulations! just as i get fed up of the trem on my rg i find this exactly what i need, now to camp it out for a while till i can get one!! :D <--- me T
  4. looking good. but i must ask, whats the green guitar that keeps popping up in those pics? lol T
  5. So - ive got it and the verdict is...... its great! Well i think it is, the mirror scratch plate looks a bit tacky as it looks more like bashed metal. The headstock looks soooo much better in real life. ok now sound, its not the greatest sounding acoustic on the market but didnt expect that for 300.... well i think 300 is a good price for it still... it brings out the mids alot, but i dont mind that i quite like it, but its made to be plugged in! sounds brilliant. So if u just want something to practice on, i recommend it but if ur looking for a top or the range (non plugged) sounding instrument then get something else. T
  6. i did a quick mock up of something mixing those ideas. i couldnt see how to mix in the iceman though. Could do with a bit of tweaking but gives you the general idea. T
  7. that looks perfect to me. draw on the pickups and bridge might just make it seem right. T
  8. i love the feel of maple fretboards always have always will... its just down to wat you prefer go try some out and compare. T
  9. why are you changing it? want a different look? just want a hardtail? trem is dieing a slow and painful death? If moneys an issue then i would just block up the trem so it cant move simple and effective, and means your not destroying your guitar. T
  10. haha. well i only had £300 that was my main problem and that guitar is supposed to retail at around £450-500. That instantly made it one of my best options... also im very picky on my guitars looks. I know, i know its not how it looks its how it sounds and plays but, im hoping that comes with it being a signature guitar. It will be for performance as well (eventually) and possibly recording (depending on sound obviously). So thats another reason for looks. Well its gonna arrive in the next few days (probably tuesday) so i will sit have a play and tell you what its like. Only sound samples i would be able to do would be DI into my comp as i dont have a decent mic at home. Thanks for you input! T
  11. well i dont have that much money, and all the electro acoustics for £300 that i can try just dont scream "PLAY ME!!" and that 1 i stumbled over, ive heard mixed reviews about fender, but i like the shape (virtually the same as the Ibanez EP7 vais signature acoustic) but half the price and different woods. i will tell you what its like when i get it, but i asumed it would have some quality to it being his signature guitar. I dont mind the 5 as its nothing offending, and quite tastful. and if i ever 4get what the number 5 is! The headstock i think is still very odd but i can live with it. T Thought i would throw in its specification too Specifications: * MODEL NAME: J5 (Special Edition) * MODEL NUMBER: 095-8801-006 * COLORS: (006) Black * TOP: Solid Spruce * BACK AND SIDES: Laminated Premium Mahogany * FINGERBOARD: Rosewood * NECK: Mahogany * BRIDGE: Rosewood with Compensated Saddle * MACHINE HEADS: Black, (Die-Cast) * ELECTRONICS: Fender/Fishman® Classic 4™ Active On-Board Preamp which Features: Volume,Bass,Mid,Treble,Body (Mid-Sweep),Low Battery Indicator Light * FINISH: Gloss,(Polyurethane) * SCALE LENGTH: 25.3" (643mm) * BODY DEPTH: 3.3" (Front), 3.58" (Rear) * WIDTH AT NUT: 1.69" (43mm) * STRINGS: Fender 60L Phosphor Bronze, p/n 0730060003,Gauges .012 to .052 * SERIES: JG Series * BODY STYLE: Super Folk Cutaway Acoustic / Electric * NO. 12. i like it looks cool. not my sorta guitar to be fair but i can see why people would. and talk your friend out of the tele bridge!!! that would look sweet with a TOM. T
  13. Hey guys - Not sure if anyone has seen it but the John 5 Acoustic. Anyone tryed it? is it any good? ive ordered it anyway just want to see if ive just wasted my money (i can always return it) but for other guitars at the £300 price range seemed my best buy. Oh and i coulnt test it as its over in london and i cant get there without spending a fortune. T
  14. So flames more like in the background of that pic (if you look hard). sorta like ghost flames... Well im sure wat you come up with will look killer (dont blame me if it doesnt!!) and cant wait to c this done, i was looking at getting one of the EDR series and modding it, as its so much cheeper than a js. BigT
  15. Kool design - instantly made me think of the Moser V... i think i may be the only person here who doesnt own a V!! BigT (oh and gary (gsr) nice too finally see you on here was on the forums on your site ages ago)
  16. couldnt u flatten it down and glue an extra piece on for the extra thickness? (hope that makes sense) Also because its just in the heal u dont need to worry about matching wood as no1 is going to see it anyway! BigT
  17. wow i can picture it now in Candy Apple Red... cant wait to see this one done!! BigT
  18. OK to me i think its just a problem every1 has with taking pictures of red guitars... ive never seen a red stained guitar that shows its true look. and to me even that 1st picture looks great, the only thing i can suggest is good lighting and no flash. Long shutter speed will get a better picture but i dont know what sort of camera you have. BigT
  19. Wow. up to part 5 and im having a break - lots of usfull stuff... just trying to get through it all in 1 go is a bit of a mind melter. Good work! BigT
  20. ok just a couple of my fav sounding chords. x54005 - That shape is really nice to move around too. x57965 - also another nice movable shape. 5746xx Just a few but theres hundreds. BigT
  21. Ok just to add to the thread what ive found out after years of playing and a love/hate relationship with theory. When i started playing guitar i hated theory i thought it was pointless and waste of my time when i could be rocking out. But as ive progressed and found that my playing would reach a certain stage and then peak out. I then went to theory and went so wat dont i know (finding i knew alot just not its actual name or expression). Even if this theory was just scales and arpeggios i could that and use these new scales and arpegs into my soloing or chord progressions. All i have to say about theory is... find the practical side of it... so many times have i heard (and thought myself) "ARGH!!!! this is a waste of time and im never gonna use it!!", then ended up using it somehow a week later. So im gonna say check out what psw is putting together (i know i will). And Learn the theory after youve learnt the practical side of it it will make a whole lot more sense. (Paul gilbert said something similar in a magazene). I will be looking out for this. BigT
  22. Sorry havnt replyed sooner to this, i actually forgot about it! Works fine all the way up to max... and its loud enough for just about anything. and even if ur doing a huge gig u would just mic it up to a PA. Again if u want any specifics (sound clips (if i have time) i will do some) BigT
  23. Ive always liked the look of them but never liked how they play. And i must say that is 1 amazing looking guitar. BigT
  24. I got the 1 with JENSEN®/BUGERA™ speakers. The cab is solid as a rock no noise and the grate at the front looks like it could catch bullets! ive only had it up to about 6 and was fine but i will give it another test 2morow pushing it to 8-9 to see what happens but it being a 400w cab im sure it can take it. Both the Cab and Head are silent... no noise at alll its scarily quiet actually i was waiting for a fan noise or something but theres nothing! BigT
  25. You dont NEED those type but its a nice bit of reasurance that the knob wont come off in your hand when u pull it up. As long as the knob sits on the pot quite tight it shouldnt be a problem. BigT
