  2. diagram of exactly how you wired everything or a detailed pic would help alot
  3. after you get the 2 push pull pots, printout the diagram from dimarzios website and follow it. it tells you which coloured wire to solder to which lug on each switch and pot, doesnt get any easier than that
  4. check EMG to see if you can find them. as far as the pickups they sell to the public if all it says is EMG in the bottom right corner it will be active. if it says EMG HZ it is passive.
  5. check the dimarzio or seymore duncan website for diagrams. or do a search on this site
  6. check dimarzio's website ir do a search on this site. Searchy
  7. it wont drain anymore than the stompbox would as it uses the same switching
  8. mark morton from lamb of god is using a custom jackson with a chambered mohagany body. review lamb of god is pretty metal if you ask me
  9. you are supposed to replace your jacksocket with a stereo socket so the battery gets disconnected from the circuit everytime you unplug the cable. it will still function as mono considering your still using a mono cable and wiring your guitars output as mono. with the stereo jack you connect the neg battery wire to the ring contact on the jack. the neg for your fuzzface is connected to the sleeve contact on the jack. when you plug a mono cable into a stereo jack the cable connects the ring and sleeve together completing the circuit, likewise removing the cable cuts the neg from the circuit.
  10. gotta love the feeling you get after you overcome a hurdle during the build. cant wait to see some more pics
  11. killer work so far man. love the body design and wood. im in the begining stages of building my own neck as well, seems pretty fun so far (also a little frustrating as i have to hold my self back from diving straight in with the spoke shave to early)
  12. that scary sharp method is insane. i darn near slit my finger open after sharpening my bench plane. worked amazingly well
  13. coarse sandpaper and some elbow grease, best way to remove it.
  14. a passive pickup yes. the emg pi2 will only work with emg pickups according to their site
  15. a nine volt battery is close enough and will work fine
  16. it is due to the fact that you do not have access to the coil wires like you do on a reg passive pickup. the coil wires run to the preamp and you have positive and negative (9volt battery) and preamp output (hot) wires coming from the pickup. so you can see it is impossible to reverse the phase of it.
  17. "I think you really need to do more reading, especially after the last thread you created. Seriously, most of your questions will be answered by reading the tutorials on the main site (www.projectguitar.com) and by reading Make Your Own Electric Guitar by Melyvn Hiscock. " i think you missed this post. buy that book and read it several times. it will answer every question you just asked and much more, best book i ever bought
  18. you will need a mini toggle, or a push/pull pot and replace one of your pots. this link will tell you how to wire your pickups to the switch (wire colors are correct as they come from dimarzio) dimarzio
  19. i just read in a woodwoeking mag recently that sanding the wood to anything higher than 220 - 320 grit does absolutly nothing as far as making the grain/figure look better, infact it made it worse in most cases. in their tests they got best results between 220-320 grit. sanding to 1000 before sealer may be the problem, you never know.
  20. im 100% confident that i can do it. im actually quite anxious to get started. just diggin for more tips
