  2. you can see part of the fan in the lower left corner of the pic.
  3. the guitar has a H-S-H configuration. but, at the moment it only has 2 hums. i have the 5-way switch wired up to do: pos. 1. bridge 2. bridge + middle 3. middle 4. middle + neck 5. neck at the moment i only get bridge and neck pups. is there a way to put a switch to activate the bridge and neck at the same time?
  4. i am planning on buying a Bill Lawrence USA L250 single coil, it is a stacked humbucker. will it sound like a single coil still? i want to know this because i will be using it in the middle position on my guitar for playing slap guitar and dirty strat sounds. also what are the advantages/disadvantages of a stacked hum vs. a single coil?
  5. if you do infact glue the top with the pups in there like that how will you change them later if you chose to. or do you plan on not changing them? also when you stain and/or paint the top will it be attached?
  6. try getting a F spaced humbucker to see if that makes a differance.
  7. its not the block its the actual unit. i returned it and ordered a OFR. i decided i didnt want to do any more routing or painting and itll match my other gutiar as far as hardware goes.
  8. i routed my guitar for a original floyd rose...but when i went to get one the guy only had a schaller. i looked at it and the post spacing was the same so i bought it. when i brought it home the schaller didnt fit the route. im not sure if i should: A) Route the already painted gutiar and re spray. or Return it and Just get a Original Floyd i would like a second opinion..
  9. !!!!REH REH REH REH REH!!!!
  10. also when clearing do you clear the side of the fret board too?
  11. how long should i let it acclimate for?
  12. I live in Utah and the average humidity is 60%. i am going to the philippines this summer for a month(going to see grandparents and to 2 weddings). i plan on buying a electric guitar there and bringing it back wiht me. the humidity there is 82% but, probably more becuase it will be rainy season. so will the 82% to 60% humidity change make the neck warp? will i have any other problems such as the paint checking and cracking? i will probably by a ibanez rg550 or better while there if thats any help.
  13. dont forget a built in 3 band eq and a sustainer....16 knobs and 5 switches...more than a bc rich bich fascinating
  14. should be in a HORROR MOVIE!!!! REH REH REH....
  15. you could just get a sustainer wiht a harmonic mode.(sustaniac) or touch the head stock to the cab and it will help that.
  16. thanks that was much needed info...
  17. also, how long does it take for acylic laquer to dry?
  18. i am at the stage of panting the guitar i have built. i was planning on useing acrylic laquer because its readily evalable. is it good or bad to use on a guitar. i used the search feature but i didnt get any info on it.
  19. ok its been a while but i have made quite a bit of progress: fretted got tuners put hardware and pups in to test it sanded painted primed now i wait for it to sit so i can sand and do the black bevels...time for the pics... http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f116/Dis...ncy/themess.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f116/Dis...adyforpaint.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f116/Dis...ency/Primed.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f116/Dis...y/itssoored.jpg i did get a bit over zelous on the paint, theres a small run on the headstock...but eh first time realy painting anything
  20. is it tube if it is your tubes may be going bad or starting too...my marshall did that and the guy said my tubes needed fixin and after they were changed it worked like a dream.
  21. i have a strat, exploer, les paul, king v, double cut prs templates...but only for the bodies and some headstocks.
  22. well some of thsoe things i would consider Phrasing. to me phrasnig is note choice and how you play them. i know exactly what you talking bout, but i cannot apply it. i took AP music and passed the test w/ a 4 but the teacher taught the whole class relative to vocal and piano. i cant get my knowledge from the piano/vocal to guitar. this is why i beleive i need a guitar teacher. melody is a hard thing for me to write. i was thinking maybe just mimic some vocal lines in pop music to get the hang of it, to see what theyre doing thats so catchy and nice. i guess im better at practicing than writing and thats what got me into this problem. i really like marty friedman and paul gilberts styles. but i do not want to be them. to me they are a great example of a melodic and technically good guitarist. thanks for the help
  23. what i think...i need to work on songwriting and phrasing, which is what i said. i posted the link to see what the "general" guitar playing community would think. not just the shred heads, when i posted in a shred forum i didnt get one bad comment, so i posted here to see what the general consensus would be so i could see what other people thought. what exactly do you mean?
