    There seems to be a nice "flow" in there, and with the neck-through it will almost look like the two halves came from the same cut.....

    Why go directly to "removing a spring", when problem could be solved by simply adjusting the springs? Requires a heck of a whole lot less in set-up. Actually, requires almost no set-up. Adjust spring, re-tune, adjust spring, re-tune. Do this until Floyd is parallel with body again. Go play your fingers off.

    Are you asking about square edges, or square corners?

    Of course you can do that, or even just skipping putting the clamps on. But why would anyone go through all the hassle of routing out their fingerboard to fit a locking nut, just for the looks? Maybe I'm just too practical...

    A locking nut shouldn't just be added "for looks". It's not worth the hassle. Considering that you must also have a trem with fine-tuning ability. You cannot slap a locking nut on there, if you have a standard vintage trem or Wilkinson. Don't work...

    I don't have an answer for you, but rather a question. Are you planning on installing anything else (such as a locking trem...) on the same guitar, or is the locking nut the only thing you're considering?

    3 springs seem to be the most common. It depends on set-up preference, string gauges, etc. If you're going with super-duper, heavy duty strings, you may have to add a spring or two. Springs also come in different lengths. Good to know if you ever need to replace one.....

    Most likely, they'll stay around where they're at now. However, they are adjustable for a reason. Whatever position it takes, to make the trem balanced between the spring/string tension.....

    I break more strings on that guitar, and it must be because of that bridge. I had a Strat with that same bridge, and had the same problem you have... Breaking strings like crazy. That guitar went back to the shop in no time. Got myself an Ibanez instead. Problem solved.

    A slightly recessed cover would be alot better than one sticking out...

    Nope, never did. But I'm PRETTY sure that they have nothing to do with the actual ferrules. Could it be that those ferrules are supposed to go with a string-through flat-mount bridge, and that those are the screws that hold the bridge? That's my guess........

    Hmmm.... Seems to me that they should have put the volume knob in a more appropriate place....

    I was under the impression that nitro has an insanely long curing time... Like, over a month. Am I wrong?

    Yeah, but unfortunately, that jig has nothing to do with drilling perfect holes for your tuners.

    And how about using a center-punch and brad point drill bits.....?

    No, you haven't overlooked anything. The heel and the pocket... Those are the two things you have to look at. Since you probably don't want to mess with the heel, the pocket is where you have to make your adjustments.
