  1. Fill the holes with epoxy wood filler and redrill so the ferrules will cover the filled hole. Once assembled you will never know the difference.
  2. There are two commonly used ways to transparently finish guitars, 1) stain the wood, then clear coat over it, 2) spray tinted clear over the wood, then clear coat over it. Number 1 gives the best look but 2 is easier. Either is acceptable and both are widely used.
  3. Looks like transparent blue sprayed onto the body but could be stained. Dye is what used to stain something however problably more concentrated than a ready to stain product. Use alcohol to stain. The stewmac stuff works with either.
  4. That is a Quilted Maple top that appears to be stained with a black burst painted edge. The stained top along with a clear coat is what makes the top jump out with the 3D effect.
  5. +1 toothpicks and wood glue, easy clean up.
  6. We have done that but with a double or blend pot.
  7. When the tone pot is at 10 the maximum resistance of the pot is between the output signal and the cap to ground. The output signal does not go through the pot as a tone control is not wired in that way. When the resistance is lowered towards zero more signal is sent to the cap which shunts the high frequencies to ground.
  8. Use a drill press with a cove molding bit with a large enough diameter to accomodate your switch/knob.

  13. You should use a spiral downcut bit versus a straight bit.
  14. Sure, just wire each volume as independent. Many basses are done this way with no pickup selector switch.
  15. Drop in push/pull pots in place of the tone pots and retain the standard look and tone control.
