  1. What if you use a stacked humbucker instead of the single coil pickup? That way you might even be able to use its bottom hum-cancelling coil with one of the coils in the regular humbucker and open up other possibilities.

  3. But most people don't write CA glue. They only write CA, and their posts won't show up in the search results. Sure I'll get some posts about CA by typing "CA glue" or "cyanoacrylate" but I'm guessing I probably won't even get half of all the posts about CA since most people only write CA. The drag is looking for a post that you know exists and having to go through a bunch of posts knowing that the one you're looking for might not be in the search results because of the system's limitations. No big deal. Thanks anyway. Edit: I went through the posts on the "CA glue" search and fortunately, the post I was looking for was in there. Thanks Southpa. P.S. I still think it would be a good idea to allow searches down to 2-letter words, and gave my reasons why. If there are reasons why it's a bad idea, I'm still curious as to what they are.
  4. To the site administrators, I tried doing a search for CA (as in superglue) but the search function doesn't allow words less than 4 letters. I could search for cyanoacrylate but since everyone writes ca, none of their posts would turn up in the results. Due to all of the 2 and 3-letter acronyms used on this site, would it be possible to have the search function work for 2-letter words, please?
  5. According to the FAQ on the DiMarzio website, all their 7-string humbuckers are available F-spaced only.
  6. I don't have a banjo but I have a banjo patch on my guitar synth. Ever try sweep picking on a banjo? I have enough of a hard time sweep picking properly with a high gain guitar sound let alone on a plucky banjo. For what it's worth, this one's for you, Jehle! Banjo Test Mix !
  7. Here's an example of recording an amp with an SM57 directly into the mic input of a Soundblaster Live Value card using Cakewalk and a decent drum soundfont... a little snippet of a tune I'm working on: Test Mix
  8. Béla Fleck would be proud of you, Jehle... I think. BTW, the drum sample even sounded a lot like Future Man's drumatar.
  9. As you were posting, I edited my post above to add another link. Luckily those piezos are really inexpensive, a lot of bang for the buck.
  10. When I "click to zoom' your pictures, the zoomed pictures don't show up. But from what I can see in the thumbnails, their backs look like common CTS (formerly Motorola) piezo horns. Flushmount version Recessed version Here's another view of the KSN1005A, this one branded Peavey
  11. Not necessarily. If it's a piezo, it will give an infinite resistance reading. And one of the reasons I was asking if there was a crossover is that piezo tweeters can be used without a crossover or high pass filter. But the presence of high-pass capacitors doesn't necessarily mean that they're not piezos. And the small 1.0uF value would mean a ridiculously high cutoff frequency of 20kHz if it was a typical 8ohm tweeter. Did you try the cabinet out? If you get sound from the tweeters and they read an infinite resistance, then they're piezos. That's all I can say with the information you've given us so far.
  12. Is there a crossover circuit in the cabinet? If so, any writing on it?
  13. A piezo I guess? What is that number? Got a picture?
  14. Wouldn't only 1 transformer on 1 end of the RP-3 (at either the input OR output) work since that would break the ground loop? Is the RP-3 powered by a grounded AC plug or a wall wart. A grounded AC plug would require both isolation transformers, but wall warts are usually isolated from the AC source by their stepdown transformer, and also don't usually ground the unit to AC mains. And if the AC supply of his RP-3 did ground the unit, he would have a ground loop even by running it at the front end.
  15. That's not all there is to it. I had a DiMarzio stacked humbucker and the poles only go through the top coil, not through both coils. And there's a grounded metal plate between the 2 coils.
  16. I use the Planet Waves meter in my acoustic guitar case because the air in my home gets pretty dry during the cold canadian winter.
  17. I've seen these but haven't tried any of them yet: dmusic.com soundclick.com purevolume.com
  18. Lower output pickups generally also have lower coil resistance/impedance. When one is connected in parallel with a higher output pickup, its lower impedance acts as a load to the other pickup. So it's normal. It actually even happens with two identical pickups but to a much lesser extent that is hardly noticeable. That's why it's preferable not to have an immense difference in coil resistance if two pickups are used in parallel.
  19. You might also want to consider Kevin O'Connor's books. Not only are his publications legendary in the amp building world, but he also lives near you!
  20. Have you checked the Maton website? There might be some clues there since they're an Australian guitar company.
  21. It's always aimed toward the floor. There's never any doubt about where to find it. It's the law of gravity... if your playing on earth anyway. It just makes sense to me and many others, but it's just a preference I guess.
  22. If you're interested in a humbucker with a bright single-coilish type of blues sound for the neck position, a DiMarzio Humbucker From Hell fills that bill.
  23. Whether the troll gets his jollies is no concern. Stopping his misinformation is all that counts. If his post is left without a response, then someone who doesn't know any better might take his word as the truth. I couldn't care less if a troll gets his jollies at my expense.
  24. If you build a 1959 Les Paul copy for yourself, aren't you depriving Gibson of the money you would have spent on a real one as much as you are depriving them of the money that they would have made from the person to whom you sell it? It seems just as injurious, doesn't it?
