  1. Yeah! That's what I want to do! Except not wood burning, although that would be cool too. Stickers, can be replicated many times and applied on multiple guitars. I know about the ParkerBro's deal, and the reason why you can't get them. I was looking to get maybe five full copies of them for just my guitars (Schecters/Ibanez, and a few back ups for rips). My interest is not to fake out others but to celebrate the coolness of the ouija board.
  2. I still like the Duncan JB and Jazz combo. Plus they are five wires so you can do all the coil tapping tricks later if you want.
  3. hey not to be a jerk, but I played a show this past weekend with a band who's guitar player had a custom Ed Roman guitar. A nice pearl white strat copy with three single coil Duncan '59s. The only downside was the annoying feedback caused by the pickups when put in distortion mode. He traded a USA Strat and a 2x12 Twin for it a few weeks ago for it to be built, and he got a microphonic guitar. I told him to contact Ed Roman and have it fixed. Sounds like Ed used some bad pickups...and if he wants to maintain his reputation (as good or bad as it is) he should replace them for free. That why I buy from Guitar Center...30 days of using someone else's stuff and return it for no charge. j/k I keep most of the stuff I buy. And the strat looked sweet, except for the Ed Roman headstock.
  4. Rob...probabaly won't get rid of it...actualy I know I wont. I starting build a custom Tele around that pickup. I know what sound I wanted and which pickup, and then started buying parts for it. Guitar Center and Musician's friend sell them for like $70. Some music shops will sell them for more but install them for free. Make sure you get the SH-4 if you have a fixed or strat style bridge. Floyd Rose bridges needs the TB-4, same thing but spaced for the Floyd Rose.
  5. I keep forgetting things The Jackson had a 3-lug button, and you would want a momentary version. Mine was from the Korean model, and the button was blue. I saw one exactly like mine (tribal pinstripe graphics on black) on Ebay a while ago for only $199 starting price.
  6. http://www.radioshack.com/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F002%5F015%5F002&Page=1. Not sure which one is better, but the Jackson was about the size of a dome knob.
  7. Yeah check out the Scott Ian models by Jackson. The red switch is the spring loaded kill switch.
  8. Also, I've used one before on my Ibanez S-series guitars. I put it in my Jackson Scott Ian model, but I had some feedback issues with it. My Amber Schecter C-1 Elite has the Gold cover Duncan Designed version and it works great for me. I just got the black Schecter C-1 Elite and I'm gonna toss the old Duncan JB in it when I have a chance. BTW all these guitars are mahogany, except my main schecter which has a quilt maple veneer over the mahogany and the Jackon which is probably alder or basswood.
  9. what site are you looking at? Here's the link. Here's what it says: JB™ Model SH-4/TB-4 -- A completely balanced coil configuration produces great harmonics and a high output with just the right blend of sustain and distortion. You get the best of both worlds: from sweet warm tones to raw rock 'n' roll. Combine this with the (SH-2) Jazz Neck and you've got Seymour's personal favorite combination. Available in black, zebra (cream & black), reverse zebra and white as well as the following colors at no extra charge -- red, red & black, pink, green, light blue, dark blue & yellow. Recommended for Bridge position. Four conductor cable, with traditional or Trembucker spacing. Also for 7-string guitars
  10. (from an email)... the words around Ouija says (i think) William Fuld Talking Board OUIJA Mystifying Oracle As a side note, that gutar went up $400 in one day. Whoever can knock these stickers out can make some $$ on ebay, especially if you sell them piecewise so that anyone can move the images around.
  11. $300? no way you have to go all out and get the Diezel VH4. They are only $4600. But seriously, I think the line 6 combos are going down in price so you can probably get a Spider 2x10 for $300 new, or the higher models used. The only downside to this is that the POD equivalent combo has had weird noises coming off it.
  12. Check these out. One thing you may need to consider is matching volume levels, and a good bypass. Most pedals take batters. If the batteries die, the signal stops at the effects and no sound is heard.
  13. Here's a Kirk Hammett ESP model on ebay.. Here's a actual ouija game board.
  14. Anyone have access to a ouija (pronouced wee-jeee) board graphics like Kirk Hammetts model and want to make them into white vinyl stickers for me? I know I can do it myself...just win a ouija board on ebay, and go pester a slacker friend of a friend and have him cut it from vinyl, but that sounds like a pain in the butt, and I'd rather sit at work for a few hours and use that money to pay someone else to do it. I know...I'm lazy. Let me know if some one can (Brian?) BTW anyone in Havasu or Vegas...look for my band Divided By Zero this weekend : Friday at Slainee's (Havasu) and Saturday at Club Live (Vegas).
  15. I heard Fear Factory called it quits. The bass player I think went on to play with Cypress Hill or one of those rapper side projects. Anyway, there's there cool Canadian rock band that I have been listening to lately called Pulse Ultra. I saw them open up for Chevelle a while ago and I bought their CD because they were extremely talented and they wrote great songs. Of course I saw them before Jared Leto's band played and I would recommend not listening to his band. Ever. Anyway back to Pulse Ultra...they're more like Incubus but they lean more towards the Steve Vai corner than MTV. There's a great track on the CD where the bassist and guitarist are doing complementing tapping riffs. Check them out. They are defiantely an up-and-coming band. I think one of their videos can be watched on www.Launch.com Otherwise check out Tenacious D. Best band ever!
  16. fyi I know there are pics of the back of his guitar. He's known for doing the "play-gutar-with-teeth" trick. You might be able to find some o the internet or in guitar mags.
  17. Being someone who is always trying to save money on a project, I always end up spending more money than it would have cost to buy the factory guitar. The only upside is that I have a guitar that I customized and it has everything that I want, and I'm not stuck with extra parts. My recommendation to you is to stay away from kits unless you don't mind about quality or unless you get hooked up with a good deal. IMO they are really low end (use maple or basswood bodies) and for maybe another $100 you could get better quality. Also search ebay's Parts & Accessories pages. Usually if all you want is a Tele or Start clone, you can get the parts pretty cheap. I usually stick to Mighty Mite because they are Fender licensed and should retro fit any Fender parts. If you are buying a body make sure that you measure the heel of the neck and match them up as I have found some Japanese Fenders are slightly smaller. Check Warmoth for neck specs too since they are also licensed. But if your budget is under $200, I'd just buy a Squire because they are usually good quality if not better than the kits (go to Fender's website for body specs--Affinity's are alder). Then search for a Fender decal on ebay if the Squire name is leaving a bad tase in your mouth. Upgrade pickups and tuners if need be. You can always strip the body if your plan was to paint it yourself.
  18. metal or rock, eh? I'd stay away from the generic shapes then (ie. Les Paul arched/flat, Les Paul Jr arched/flat, Strat, Tele, etc). BC Rich makes some very metal looking shapes. Although most are way too metal and probably wouldn't be considered for rock. SG's and Explorers are cool, but if you are making your own, you might as well copy those shapes. I think a very cool one would be a copy of Jerry Garcia's guitar. It's like a morphed SG. Warmoth makes them now.
  19. better lookin gthan the antigua's...they're more of a nasty green puke color. Nice Tele!
  20. so...what's the question? btw nice Strat.
  21. The only thing I've heard is that the reverse is not true. Most acoustic amps (Fender, Carvin, Marshall, etc.) have three channels if not two. The second or the most part is a PA system wit hthe first being the direct acoustic. And since you can run POD-esque preamps through a PA, you probably can do the same wit hthe 2bd channel of the acoustic amp. The first channel is generally EQ'd for an acoustic, and probably won't give you the tones you want. I"d run it through the "mic/bass" channel if you have a preamp, and it should sound decent. If not, chain a small mixer (ala Behringer $59 model) and it should work.
  22. Wish I could see what you are talking aboot. Can you email Brian the pics?
  23. My best recommendation is to 1) determine what year it was made 2) find a Fender catalog of that year and 3) see what they used to make their MIM Strats. I think now they switch between alder (sunbursts) and poplar (solid colors).
  24. I'm blocked from seeing them Can you "save as" and post on a site?
  25. Yeah Ibanez necks are very thin and flat. If you aren't a big tremolo fan, you could get a hardtail version of the RG for around $250 new. The bolt on Iceman aren't bad if you can find them--they made a tuneomatic version. But make sure it's the full sized one, and not the scaled down version.
