  1. Try RIT plastic dye. I use it to stain acrylic. I'm sure it would work on a pick guard if you kept it boiling for long enough. Test it on a piece of plastic first.

    1. You need to know at least 5 positions for each of these scales in order to use them effectively.... 2. I definately did not get something wrong with melodic and harmonic minor....they are both VERY important if you want to play anything besides simple rock.... 3. You need to be able to play all arpeggios of the four-note chords in five positions if you want to play jazz response to 1: I in fact have ENCOURAGED learning the WHOLE pattern. Response to 2: I totally disagree with that statement. Response to 3: Yes you should learn the four note chord arpeggios. but you can make up other arpeggios that aree more complex than that as most people do in jazz. Response to you calling me an idiot: Just thoroughly embarrasses yourself and shows your lack of maturity. those last few statements you made were totally irrelevant.

pentatonics are encompassed in modes..... the pentatonic minor scale is 5 notes out of the minor scale and the pentatonic major is 5 notes out of the major scale..... I'm not dissagreeing with the use of pentatonics. just learn the actual scales that the pentatonics are pulled from makes a lot more sense. Would you rather have a broader pallate of tones to use or would you rather stick to the ever limited pentatonic scale. btw there are 5 patterns in the major/minor scales. as there are 5 patterns in all modes so the pentatonics are simply offshoots of major/minor. and dorian the second mode is the pentatonic taken to another level. so if you want to play extended blues in lets say C for discussions sake. you could play c major pentatonic (and any note of your chosing in major) to d Dorian (which is a minor pentatonic with added tones) which i like to use with a blues scale combined (which is just 2 more added tones) and then you could always play the A minor pentatonic and any added tones from the minor scale that you'd like. How ever this correlates in the same way in reverse. A C minor blues you could play the C minor pentatonic with the added tones of a C minor scale and you can play an E ionian or major pentatonic with added tones of ionian...etc so in no means am i dissing pentatonics. however it is smarter to learn the scales they are pulled from. and being a zakk wylde fan you of all people should understand his appreciation for modal songs and bebop. vai uses modes ALL THE time, and satch in almost EVERY SINGLE SONG. modes are like coloring. Why use one marker when you can use a whole pallate of colors while still looking good and professional. the pentatonic scale in the five patterns is literally hitting the same 5 notes every single pattern. With exception of the different keys. This sounds good for a while but too many playters are limited by this box. however people complain of being too sterilized by all the scales. You inject yourself in everything you play. you can put just as much expression in a modal song as a blues. just listen to joe pass cover blue bossa or ANY BENSON stuff. the man is insane. If you want to use over drive be my guest but you are just playing the same thing and eventually you'll want to break out of the pentatonic box. trust me its happened to almost all of my friends

    ----------------------------------------------- 1 2 3 4----- --------------------------------- 1 2 3 4- ----------------------------- 2 3 4 5---- -------------------- 3 4 5 6--------------- ----------- 4 5 6 7------------------------ ---5 6 7 8- ------------------------------- thats what a proper chromatic scale looks like. you use the first notes on every string for sweeping and some nice sounding jazz chords. not on the b to e string it is the same. this is correct.

no i totally understand. i appreciate the system. its smart. yeah if your trying to be pentatonic safe stay in the root 3rd 5th 7th.

i get what your saying. but i wouldnt say stability as much. because think about it. the 6th sounds good in some cases. hendrix used it well. but infused with dorian in just regular situations it sounds like ass unless you slur over it. you need to use the strange notes of the scale to make it sound good. but i wouldnt necessarily say stability wise its that much different. for example the 9th. its not the worst not to end on at all. i use it for a lot of funk riffs.
  7. ^ true that. hynsu nice guitar neck. squier necks are terrible. they warp to the endth degree. they tend to warp.

i didnt SAY that they were the same. they correspond to eachother. what are you talking about.... stability???? please explain.
  9. lol i dont know how much luck you'll have with that locking nut and a bigsby. might be cool actually but bigsby only puts a lil' vibrato on it. not a dive bomb thing lol. and i dont know how well that kramer headstock will work other than that sick design
  10. lmao that is the LEAST strat like strat i've ever seen! i love it! nice work! speaking of which i should have pictures of my new custom reliced strat!!!! i've been working on it sparatically over a month or so. it started as a NEW mexican made strat.... heh heh heh heh........
  11. oh lord dont get me started. I built my jem from a frickin' hand saw and sand paper. believe me with an accurate template you can do anything. just TAKE YOUR TIME AND THINK IT THROUGH. i've wasted many hours cleaning up stupid sloppy mistakes.

that is not a a chromatic scale. and no those are NOT modes. they are the same 5 notes repeated up the neck. I bet you guys didnt know that. what you are playing is the SAME 5 notes OVER AND OVER. penta (5) tonic 5 tone scale. hexatonic I.e is a blues scale with an added note. I dont have time to explain modes but basically play the corresponding mode and you can play in any key to any song. I.e G major song... you can play g ionian or e minor scale (encompassing the pentatonic)

dude.... major minor are in the modes. major is ionian and minor (i dont know) its the 6th mode. pentatonic is dorian except dorian is broader. arpeggios are broken chords and you use certain arpeggio shapes for different things. i think your confusing 2 things. as for diminished stuff and melodic minor... i just wouldnt worry about it. learn the modes in all 5 patterns. you'll have the fretboard MASTERED then.

i agree with the major scales. however i say you should immediatly learn dorian AKA pent. with 2 added tones. and you should throw the blues scale notes in there. then i say you should learn the third mode....uhhh crap what is it.....its not mixolydian. whatever. learn the 7 modes. or screw locrian and just learn the 6 modes. dont take the pentatonic route. you'll wind up just sounding like everyone else.
  15. how about the jazz guitar d'angelico setting? is it nice?
  16. hes such a great guitarist. his band is wonderful as well. listen to his hit. i dont remember what the name of if it is. but its amazing. I think its claled i need more love.

  21. that one is awaiting a new bigsby and i still havent finished. i've ran into numerous problems and got bored. ill finish it before the deadline though. isnt this a cool idea though?
  22. yesterday, i bought a large quantity of sitka spruce flamed maple and bubinga. this is some nice flamed maple. so what is this stuff for??? the freak'n craziest idea in the history of archtop building....... a NECK thru archtop...... I know it sounds impossible. but i plan to extend the neck joint a few extra inches into the archtop for stability then hollow the neck by hand and glue sides then back then top. BTW back will be bookmatched flamed maple midsection will be flamed maple. top will be the ever classic sitka spruce. plus a 7 piece neck thru on both sides!!!! the wood is here and there is no turning back baby!!! i know archtop fans such as drak will greatly appreciate this exercise of insane ideas/ and worksmanship. Any q's will gladly help me along. cheers and beers, sam fisher
  23. how much for the head unit alone. it is a total of 899 american dollars. for your deal totally
  24. i actually think that 500 + cab is fair. as the cab was bought for 400$ plus an upgrade in speakers. from their crap power jam speakers to nicer peavey speakers. (what the guy at samash said when brought in for repairs. ill post a video of me turning on the unit so that you know that it works. i'd like some evidence that it works. if there are dents and crap its fine. as long as the amp works. I will have your money in 2 months tops. however i think that 600 is a little extreme dont you? I understand your position but please understand mine. and ebay buyers rules. buyer pays shipping. so ill play for head you pay for cab. deal?
  25. actually i'm not interested in the 1960 cab but for the head how about 350 plus a head just for giggles.
