  1. yea, all those wonderfull websites, keep up the good work
  2. those are mighty mite products, i have asked him before about his stuff, he always has something on ebay, just a fyi for everyone jeremy
  3. hmm, i wonder if the fire department could hook me up with that god awful yellowish greenish, neon lemon lime color they got the new fire trucks in, you have to see these things, you cannot miss them, not your typical red fire trucks, perfect color for a guitar to catch anyones attention
  4. any trauma to a guitar is murder on the setup especially if it involved the hardware directly, it could be anything, take your time and try anything cheap first before you spend any money on it, and good luck
  5. Currently, I have a selfbuilt spare parts Stratocaster wich resembles a 62 model, the only exception is those big ass frets, otherwise a dead on homemade (well screwed together is more like it) 62 reissue A nice Sonata Jumbo Acoustic with a pre amp and piezo bridge I added later, I have no Ideal who made it or where they were sold, it was a pawn shop special, I love the thing. A Fender P Bass, I always wanted a bass but I have never really played it or had an amp cause it sounded really crappy in any of my amps, Im talking to Vwall right now about getting a proper bass amp finally. Various other things laying around, mostly in parts unassembled, a Takamine GX 100 butchered Explorer I intend to work on, a Pheonix guitar body and neck I just snagged off Ebay, a cheesy Harmony I jacked parts off, some pickups, pots, screws, pickguards, and a Mako Traditionals I took apart for a friend and will be my first finishing project, eventually. I have a wonderful good ol 50's tweed Champ amp, not sure of the year because the label fell off a long time ago and theres no markings that I have found yet to gimme a better indication, I have another really nice Vester Chorus Amp that is really nice but I rarely use it, and I have too many pedals to mention, I love simplicity and the champ is that. I throw a pedal or two on it occasionally, Im hopefully going to finally get a Bass amp from Vwall really soon. Unless you wanna LYAO and hear me play the p bass through the champ amp, its really bad, honestly it is. Thats about it.
  6. Kevan, I tried that newspaper trick last night and wow, it works wonders, I would have never thought of using that, now theres a reason to keep some laying around, before was just laziness and people would say whats the deal with the pile of papers, now I have a better excuse, hehehe thanks, good trick. Jelly, I meant Jehle, just kidding bud, Im going to try your techniuqe out instead of the model decal next time, looks good, and I wont have to worry about it flaking off, im very careful each time with my string changing, its already rubbed off in a few spots, thanks for the info And Dave, in conjunction with Jehle's logo trick, Ill try out your neck amber trick, l have that body and neck combo I got off ebay just itching to be worked on, would be the perfect time to try em out, except im waiting till the weathers a little nicer and my mom agrees to let me take over the garage again, thanks you 3. Jeremy
  7. well, u said there was damage done to the guitar, im just going off your info, sadly a strats trem system is kinda an all inclusive deal, what ever you do to one string affects the rest, thats the only thing i dont like about them, a floyd rose trem is a little more sophisticated when setting up and tuning but once you get it where it needs to be, that age old addage, LITHA or leave it the hell alone works wonders but i keep going off what you said, an imprint, it sounds like it got dropped and doesn't go hand and hand with the LITHA concept, so yea, the neck could have shifted, the trem could have been depressed and when the trem snapped back could have really strecthed the strings, those little slinky e's can be nasty, i would try a new set of strings and go through the setup again, id bet what ever caused those indentations is your culprit, good luck jeremy
  8. i have used duplicolor products before when working on my vw's, (my last expensive hobby) and painted 2 complete cars with spray cans, and touched up several bondo spots on another. they didnt look bad at all for a do it yourself spray can job, so I wouldn't see any reason why you couldn't spray a guitar body with some. I have never tried it, I am thinking of trying out the ReRanch stuff since its been suggested to me here on the Forum but good luck if you go with regular spray paint. I liked the duplicolor's spray tips, i think they are better than some of the others tips, but thats my opinion and btw my garage always reeked of spray paint smell after a while when i did those cars, i think your just going to have to be stuck with that smell for a while, sorry but heres a suggestion, if your going to spray in a garage and have some laying around, some old sheets and just hang them onto the rails that the doors are attached to and tack one on the top of the door so it hangs down and that you now have a 3 sided drop cloth walls with the door opened for ventiliation and so that everything else in the garage is protected from overspray and it helps keep some of the smell outta the garage, it worked for me the second time i painted my other vw and my mom was happy because i had gotten some overspray on the wall the first time, it didnt eliminate the smell entirely but it helped, also our water heater is in the garage so be careful with any open flame and spray paint, that was another concern of mine, hopefully you wont have to worry about that, hope that info will help take care jeremy
  9. hmm, most people dont realize that most of the original fender finishes are actually automotive paints, ever heard of fiesta red (ford), or ever heard of dakota red (cadilliac) or speaking of the caddy, how about daphne blue, yea all kinda neato colors that were on cars found a nice home on fenders too, and the hardwood kind that make music, not the metal ones that go around the wheels ok im done being silly, but yea, automotive finishes are a ok, good luck
  10. I agree, also you said there was an imprint in the wood and the string has 2 spots on it, its possible that the string is strecthing because of those stress points, metal when bended if funny sometimes, its integrity sounds like its been compromised, i would replace the string like he said and see what happens, is it possible that if the guitar got hit hard that the saddle or the tuner key got knocked as well, your problem could be there also, make sure the tuning key is nice and tight and not loose, or that the saddle is where its supposed to be, thats one thing i have always disliked about a strat type trem is the saddles can be bothersome, at least for me they have been good luck and no, its an ok question, its part of the learning process, building your own gear and or fixing it/modifying it/discovering a new trick is all part of the fun, so its not a bad question but a good one and it falls right into place with this forum because its what were all here for to help each other out, take care jeremy
  11. whats the difference in the 30 and the 30 r, im assuming the r is reverb?! i might even just go with the 20 watt, and when do i need to decide by, its not like im hurting with out it, i rarely play the bass, its one of those closet dust collector things, but i would hate to see you lose out on your account, and i have always wanted a bass amp, a good one too, well its just an ideal, i guess email with the different prices and such on all thier smaller bass amps, and the differences in each, nothing that is too big, and i dont need any tubes, just solid state would be fine, i love the warmth of tubes but its too much hassle to switch em out when needed, nothing too big please cause its just an apartment and i dont wanna get the neighbors all worked up, "again" yea lets not go there thanks jeremy jeremy_wills@hotmail.com
  12. scott, i have a question, i have a precision bass guitar that sounds fine to me because i just play for fun, i rarely play it and when i do its just in one of the guitar amps, but it would be nice to have a real bass amp with the eq's designed for bass, i know it would sound much much better, ok i have always wanted to snag a bass amp but i never really gave it much thought, ok im interested in either the bulldog 20 or 30, what kinda price can you get, ill have to think about shipping, etc.... i live in san antonio so thats not too far, it shouldn't be that bad from your shop, just gimme a ballpark figure, and what kind layaway you can do and ill consider it, i am not picky, i just want a legitimate bass amp, i wouldnt mind the 30 cause its a little more power, i guess whats the differences, just a bit more power right, otherwise same amp, well no guarantees, just let me know what you can and ill think about it, good luck with your order btw i saw this on ebay for a fyi, plus im not picky i could find a good pawn shop deal, but i would like to help you out and got to thinking about a bass amp again, so thanks scott jeremy
  13. bill lester of guitar reranch is awesome, hes been putting up with all of my email questions and i thank him, he will try and answer your questions as best as possible, if he knows what it exactly is, he will tell you, good luck with your quest and welcome aboard jeremy
  14. hmm, that looks easy and sounds alot cheaper than these retrofit kits, where did u get your transducers again, out of what????????? because strat like saddles are usually like what bout a 100 bucks for a set to replace on a trem block, plus then you have to add the preamp which is what about another 100 bucks or so? btw is this a homebrew preamp or is it something you constructed yourself, more info on the way you wired the preamp and its componets etc.... would be greatly appreciated!!!! :DB) I have always wanted to incorporate a piezo system into my strat, it sounds like you have done it for much less than what I had figured it would cost, wow, this info is worth more than gold, i love this site/forum jeremy
  15. the only fernandes that i have had the luxury of trying out was a monterrey, but for a les paulish guitar, very nice, the one i messed around with was about 900 dollars quote "on sale" and had the sustainer, thats the only reason i tried it out to see what those pickups sounded like, they were good pickups, they sounded really nice in the fender ultimate chorus amp that was in the shop, i wish i could have plugged it up to one of those nice looking marshall stacks but thats what the guy hooked it up 2, its his amp and guitar, and still lots of money, i dont complain in the stores too much, i really just wanted to check out the pickups so i voted for the monterrey, im sure the starwars ones rock too
  16. hmm, i never thought to make a cover, scratches head, thinks about what dave said, rethinks it again, hmm good idea, thanks for the tip
  17. 1st off, you have a very unique looking guitar, most interesting, anyways, go here http://www.projectguitar.com/ref/wire.htm yea brian beat ya to it this time, hehehe anyways, on our main part of the site, just follow that link, i didnt see 2 singles with a hum and a 3 way, i only see with the 5 but its not difficult to wire that up, i guess my question is are you going to change the config or just rewire it, whats your intentions i guess jeremy
  18. u forgot to mention, home brew project guitars, aka the other box, thats what i voted for !!!!
  19. whats wrong with being addicted to a guitar, theres far more worse addictions out there right? i think its great that hes taken the time to point out in his opinion what makes it great guitar, i dont play alot of satrianish or vaiish styles of music, i love SRV and Clapton and Hendrix and Eric Johnson, also s huge Nirvana fan, love Kenny Wayne Shepard, and various others, these licks that I play around with almost always ended up being played on a strat so its all good, if i was a big vai fan i would probably want to pick up an ibanez style guitar to help catch that right sound, theres no set law that says, I am the mighty Gibson Les Paul, all bow to me) but if your after that Jimmy Page sound, you might start there, my point im trying to make is if your after copycatting someones sound, get an identical axe and go from there, if your after your own sound, get several types of guitars, try em out, play with them, feel them, listen to them, abuse the hell outta them, see what they are capable of, break them, then later on if your like attached to that wonderful ernie ball aixs because it just feels right and your able to dial in that sound you were after, then who cares if its 2 grand and it was the axe eddie was using, just like if your able to grab that sound outta a 99 dollar pawn shopper that says hondo on it, more power to ya, play it with pride then, thats my opinion, i just happen to love my spart parts strat, so im happy as happy can be and the next one i intend to build will be a hardtail cause hes right, the strat trem system sucks period, then only thing i dont like is retuning, retuning, retuning, yea that gets kinda old and anyone i have ever talked to, techs, players, salesmen/players have always said that the ibanez trems on thier cream of the crop end of thier guitars were always superb cause thats one thing i have always griped about was my (with synchronized tremelo) hehehe sorry couldnt resist that one
  20. yea i just might get some of that micro mesh then, ill let ya know about it, btw i use a fishing tackle box for most of anything i do when it comes to taking something apart, that way i have all the little compartments for screws, parts etc........ and i can close it up and lock it so no one messes with it, yea tin cans, muffin trays, etc. are great but it they get knocked off the table, bammm everything flys out, now yes tackle box can get knocked over too, trust me i know, but at least everything stays intact, otherwise i used to place screws etc... in a small danish cookie tin, one of those round ones, and sadly i knocked it off the table and bamm, here i am on my knees with the flashlight looking throughly on the carpet for those lovely little screws so thats why i bought an extra tackle box and open it up just when i need to either get something outta it or to place something in it and then the lid gets closed and it gets latched, i had to spend almost 2 hours one time looking for about 20 screws, it was stuff from several things i was working on, they werent even guitar related either, so this works for anything with teeny tiny screws btw having a roll or two of solder before hand saves you an extra trip midstream, i know this all too well too, be prepared before you start, because its usuallu sunday and no one is open at least thats how normally works out for me "
  21. hmm alex's explorer, steves watersplash/piano lid bass, hmm i think theres others than the ibanez crowd, good work brian
  22. sherwin williams has all the stuff u need, my mom did it in a room on sheetrock, but it should work out beautifully on a chunk of wood too, just lay down the base coat, then you have to use some other kinda paint, i cant remember and a colored glaze and mix that up, then grab a sponge or a old shirt/rag, depends on what kinda texture your after, or you can use a paintbrush and colorwash it, really nice and dont be repetitive, kinda make random swipes at it, then i would assume you just clear coat over that, sherwin williams has a wonderful kit with all the stuff you need, all you have to do is just decide what colors to use, ahhh the wonderful world of decisions, thats the worst part
  23. now theres a tip i can use, hell i been taking my cds to cd exchange and they hit you 2 bucks a wack to run that disc doctor machine on them, its gotten old, thanks dave btw speaking of sandpaper, if your ever taking apart an old fender and theres sandpaper in the neck pocket, leave it there and dont lose it, just for nostalgia and the fact that its kinda interesting they did that to help keep necks from slipping, also, common sense, be careful with a soldering iron, it really doesnt react well with instrument finish, and dont spend tons of money on a nice pedal board or a padded pedal bag, go to home depot or any good hardware store, you can usually pick up a piece of scrap plywood for free or minimal amount of money, cut a handle into the top, love that jigsaw, spray paint it black, and then just drill some holes and zip tie your pedals to it, i later screwed a couple of 2 x 4 blocks at the top on the bottom to give it a slight angle, and for the power supply, i just took a 6 socket power strip with the extra space for a block transformer and zip tied that on as well so bamm, plug in the pedals and plug in the strip and instant pedal board, anyways a fyi
  24. i wouldn't know, they couldn't pry my regular non super strat outta my dead cold hands till long after i was dead!!!! actually i would have to say that the jems are very nice looking guitars, i mean who cannot fall in love with that lovely wonderful vine inlay, that alone on the white and gold hardware color schemed one i played around with once was a beautiful piece of equipment, i liked it, just that i dont have that kinda cash laying around so i dont get too attached, plus i agree, swirly paint jobs rule
