  2. I've had it in my grubby mits before and never bought it. So grab the Motrin,I'm gonna give it a whirl,(oh god what AM I thinking?!)
  3. PS-Scott I used your tutorial for pinning a top on a carved top tele-great results. Thanks for the info and the step-by step.Super easy to follow.
  4. Hi there, welcome to the forum.Guitar looks great.
  5. When placing the jack you can run a dowel through the hole, then through the jack. Put a hole in the dowel and stick a toothpick through the hole then you just draw the jack into place.Just gotta watch for the wires
  6. I should have voted Scott the first time,so I went with him this time.
  7. The adhesive on electrical tape can peel fairly easily on some surfaces,(been there ),and leaves a nasty gummy mess. Don't risk it use something else.
  8. Ya you can do that, remember Drak's Coco-Bolo custom.I think it was guitar of the month for March. You could use the body as a mold,if you still have the offcut piece from the body you could use that like a caul to held the steamed wood against the body while the glue dries. But the glue will need a little extra time with the water from the steaming coming out of the wood.
  9. It can,you just have to keep it straight,if it curves it can give the appearance of a false read so you want to get a thick piece.I use a piece of cold rolled steel that I deburred.Glass is also good
  10. Size depends on genetics,(ha-ha sorry),it depends on how many strings you want and the scale length. This link will help you calculate length: http://www.buildyourownguitar.com/resource...c/jscrptclc.htm The drill bit for the holes really depends on what tuning keys you're using.A lot of companies do either one or two piece necks.IMO-3 piece laminated is stronger, which is always best for a neck.
  11. Congrats .I';ve got a couple of munchkins myself. As much as they drive you nuts sometimes I wouldn't trade them for anything.
  12. Myka's piece is beautiful. But I just can't get over the inlay on that LP.
  13. I voted for myself ,(boy do I feel selfish),but I knew I should have voted for Scott. Brian-is it possible for you to change my vote?
  14. Wes,that guitar is sweet . I couldn't get the image,I did the properties thing and it said that I couldn't go to the page when I typed in the URL.It went to the homepage of community webshots, where to from there?
  15. Great Job.Are you gonna use any colours when you finish it? I hope you're going to enter this for Guitar of the month when you're done.
  16. lol I'll have mine with fried pepper's and sour cream please
  17. Sounds delicious! lol Okay-have added some black food colouring to the liquid and am going to let it soak for a day or two.So far the veneer is extremely pliable in all directions. Brian-thanks for the rice vinegar tip,the wood has taken on about a 20% greater flexiabilty than just water. I was thinking of using it to do an inlay on the back of a neck-but I wondr if that will answer anything.-thoughts?
  18. A thin line of tape covering the binding during colour or graphic spraying.Masking tape is okay, but try to get the painters tape or the stuff they use for automotive graphics. The regular household can leave adhesive residue. Using a hairdryer to warm the tape slightly as you remove it can soften up enough to reduce resiue and prevent the adhesive from taking up small spots of paint. Some people just spray right over the binding and scrape it down afterwards. If you're spraying something thin like dye it may run under the tape and require a scraping anyway. If you are going to use dye you might want to check out Litchfields thread on how he makes his own dyes. Hope this helps.
  19. Okay,GE sent me a ton of stuff.Apparently flourescent lights do emmit UV.There was a study on it a few years ago.I'll post the link. But first there is a ton of stuff to go through. They sent me almost 2 pages of links on UV from lights and colour fading
  20. You could always watch "Gilligan's Island" before you get stranded
  21. Did you draft that up?What would you charge for plans?
  22. Once again-amazing work.I love that spalt line,it just seems to fit .
