  1. Well that top does make it look nice and that "knot" now that you mention it does look like a jack plate type hole Good luck
  2. Hmmm....I like bayberry.... Maybe I'll try vanilla though... Hmmm...scented pickups...I wonder if there's a market???
  3. If you like strong get some of the neodium magnets off ebay.... you could use your guitar as a fridge magnet I remember someone in here talking about them a while back
  4. I thought you usually dropped it slightly for rally....it's not like you're really going off road...
  5. I was actually curious about the bridge as well...it looks like a trem in the photo...is it just a trem that you're not having move??
  6. What I meant was a regular burst with the gibson style voodoo finish....
  7. Awww...but I like martian spagheti...it goes good with capacitor balls and semiconductor sauce
  8. You shouldn't have to do anything with the pole pieces... a lot of the time it's solder holding it on (or sometimes nothing....) I had a tough time with the solder...the wax potting and the metal from the PU itself acts like a heatsink....I used braid to get as much off as possible then pried with a screwdriver to crack the joint.... the wax in mine was basically a solid cube...I took most of it off with a hairdryer (careful it splashes ALL OVER)
  9. Yes...you're right.... you could use 2 double pots and one regular one as well
  10. I think someone was working on sending external power into the guitar through one to power the active circuits
  11. Yup....real good fuses....it's lovely to know that the fuses are more indestructable than the equipment...... Actually.....that's pretty horrific
  12. Usually you'd do it for something odd like being able to control an effects loop from the guitar or maybe having one out a little hotter than the other or other things....
  13. redo??? that looks pretty good???
  14. The pickup routes are a touch rough...err.... that and the control route....why did you cut it from both??? why get 2 covers??? what do you plan to screw them into??? that and the knot on the back is just itching to cause you trouble Maybe I'm missing something...are these templates??? I'm sorry if I'm missing something here but it looks like it's not well planned and most likely full of unpleasant surprises along the way
  15. The Elitist Epi's are actually pretty drool worthy...a bit pricey but more reasonable than gibsons... the normal range of guitars is pretty affordable...and the bridge and PU's and electronics can be replaced pretty easily... Not that they're perfect...they're not top end guitars....finishing is mediocre...and the tuners are pretty cheap too... For the money they aren't a bad foundation...the resale value is awful too so you can get them second hand pretty cheap just like squires...
  16. A philosophical question about tone woods If a mahogany tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it does it sound warmer than maple????
  17. Yup...you're right....grounding both would be redundant...and you ground the bridge to ground the strings anyway...either one will work...basically anything metal that touches the strings....you could ground the nut or a tuner if it was convenient and it would have the same effect
  18. I use medium thickness (I don't want to go look)....it's a little stiffer....I like that...
  19. An anecdote about insulating.... When I did mine I didn't insulate it at first....it played fine with the cover off......but then when I put it on it was silent...... I was grounding out somewhere and it took a few minutes to figure out....it made me laugh because taking 10 seconds to tape something would have saved me about 30 minutes of puzzlement :-)
  20. The ones in PC's are usually several layers..... If you're looking to do it the copper plated fiberglass boards are better (especially dual sided)....you have to etch them which is a pain...
  21. Yeah...the epi's are good.... especially the ones with the translucent finishes...no hiding plywood there :-) but yeah....hella cheap pots....pretty bad wiring...the PU's I got in mine weren't bad but had a nasally sounding high end....
  22. well from reglassing stuff at work once you start sanding it gets into EVERYTING....a respirator is definately wise....and probably crap clothes too....Ugh.....SOOOOooooo itchy
  23. OOooo.....I like that top too.... You should paint it solid black
