  1. Just so it's documented... Here's my "Sour Appleburst" finish mockup for LGM. I originally called it "Boogerburst", but i think the new name suits it better.
  2. Here's one that i promis is not a repeat: More images here and here.
  3. Well done! The contours could be a touch softer, but overall, you really nailed it! Really nice finish, too. You did a great job of marrying the 24-fret neck with the JS style body. Great to see more JS/Radius fanatics!
  4. That's looking awesome! Great work! I love the JS6/6000.
  5. Given the amount of international fraud with eBay and PayPal, i think it's well within Dave's rights (and quite reasonable) to limit his exposure to risk. The key to a safe transaction is being able to verify everything before the sale is completed. If he doesn't feel safe handling international orders, you can't really fault him for it. Can TPG Post not do postal money orders in foreign currencies? In my experience, postal money orders are much more cost effective than going through a bank.
  6. On a bass, i'd be more inclined to recess a very tall bridge into the body than i would to angle the neck.
  7. I'm Canadian and i'm pretty sure i have a confirmed address with PayPal. Where are you?
  8. I don't like the look of "carved" tops done with a router. To me, a carved top should be a smooth arch, but the routed tops tend to be much flatter with more pronounced "shoulders". It's just not a look i like.
  9. Nice stuff! That's some THICK binding! I presume you cut your "carved" top with a router?
  10. I don't think Ibanez makes any alder-bodied RGs other than the JEM7V, do they? As far as whether you should sand through this layer, it's really hard to tell from the photos exactly what that layer is and what it looks like. If it's just a thin veneer as suggested, i'd say keep sanding until you get to the prettier grain below.

  12. How the heck are you going to fit 12 tuners on one of those headstocks?
  13. The ZW kit is designed to be a straight replacement if you have a Les Paul, and includes the pickups and all the controls you'll need. But if you just want the core sound Zakk gets, put an 85 in the neck and an 81 in the bridge. But since your Jackson is different in just about every other way from a Les Paul, don't expect miracles.
  14. How about a medley of "Sad But True" and "American Badass"?
  15. I think your friend must be mistaken... i don't think such a thing exists.
  16. The people who understand that hotlinking is wrong have now taken to ripping the images off the original sites and uploading to their picture host without credit attributed to the original source. This is still wrong. Copyright law says that you may not reproduce copyrighted work without permission. Uploading a copy of someone else's photos to your own server for public display without permission is illegal, no question about it. What's more, you're also taking attention away from some smaller and less recognizable luthiers by not attributing the original source of the image, so you're in the wrong on legal and ethical grounds. The size of the crime doesn't matter. You can go to jail for stealing a 25¢ piece of candy. Somebody, somewhere, does care.
  17. Here's the URL: http://www.fretsonthenet.net/ His work is top-notch.
  18. Hipshot actually makes a 5-string conversion kit for 4-string Precision basses. It includes a 5-string bridge that fits the standard Fender mounting pattern, plus an extra tuner and a nut blank. It's pictured in the lower left corner of their main page. I'm thinking of buying the kit for my mongrel P-Bass, which i usually keep tuned down to B anyway. The Badass II bridge on it doesn't take really heavy strings very well, so i was thinking i might convert it to a 5.
  19. It doesn't use posts. It pivots on bearings. The cavity is vastly different from the Edge and Edge Pro cavities. It's a pretty complicated trem. I haven't heard of anyone ordering one and installing it on a custom guitar. I doubt Ibanez even sells them on their own.
  20. I bet with a razor blade and a bit of heat, you could peel it off fairly successfully. But then you'd have to find an adhesive that would work for sticking it to another instrument.
  21. You'd probably get good shielding as a result of using a copper top. (Heh... coppertop...) But if you're not going to finish it, i hope you like having green copper stains on your picking arm. I once tried copper picks, and wondered why my fingers turned green after playing for a few hours.
  22. http://www.hotdotz.com I thought you guys might be interested. On a custom build, you might be able to integrate the array strip into an inset channel on the edge of the fretboard/neck.
  23. Well, on a $50 guitar, i'd say try it. If it doesn't work, you've got a headstock repair project to learn from!
  24. I haven't looked at a P-series headstock up close in ages, but i think that's very likely.
  25. There's no carbon fiber in the P-series headstock, and it's roughly the same shape. But i think it is a little longer than a Fender-style headstock, and without the backward tilt, you would have to get staggered-height tuners to get the strings to break over the nut at the right angle.
