Ki swordsman
it's got a lot wrong with it, it's nothing like an actual jems but i drew it on by hand anyway, it looks neat enough for the job(hell it's only a crappy samick ) so i'm stoked
eddiefletcher
For a first try its damn good. only thing I would say tis probably what you already know in that its a little too deep. If you PM me I'll send you the full specs from a CNC routerd handle i did my last job. let me know dude but so far looks fine to me! good effort! monkey69962000
Samick Pride. Anyone think i should put a monkey grip on the old Albene.
Ki swordsman
yeah i read the tut, but couldn't be bothered doing it exact, thx Eddie, when you say deep do you mean distance from the edge of the guitar? i did that on purpose, it's a strat shape so i kinda got to put it wherever
Ki swordsman
Samick Pride. Anyone think i should put a monkey grip on the old Albene. this one's not my guitar actually... my old samick i sold to a friend who cut a massive half moon into the bottom
monkey69962000
what type of samick

monkey69962000
lol they stoped production on the Albene (strat) litterally is a strat. Its when they built guitars for fender. Well now they hyped the Albene with the Malibu. So nobody has herd of the albene anymore.
Ki swordsman
how do i tell what it is?
monkey69962000
the albene looks just like a strat. The malibu is a little deformed of a strat. And the head stock says albene
Ki swordsman
well the headstock doesn't say albene anywhere so i guess its a malibu
monkey69962000
yeah albene hasnt been around for about 4 or 5 years now i think.
american_jesus
that's some beautiful looking plywood, haha. good job, looks pretty sweet/q
Ki swordsman
thanks man, oh and the cutaway on the back thing looks really deep in that pic, actually it's about halfway into the guitar so it should still have enough wood to remain strong
Ki swordsman
i had a hard time making the side without the finger grooves a nice curve.. it's kinda an illusion cos i simply made the edges a nice curve, so then the whole thing looks like a good curve, and it's not too noticable by feel
Jehle
Well, it sure does look nice to me. I'd be proud to have that be my first monkey grip. I'm a bit surprised to read "crappy Samick" as I thought that Samick was a much higer quality instrument than that. Then, I see that it's plywood. Oh dear. My only experience with plywood guitars has not been pleasant. It would feedback horribly and it sounded very shrill.
Ki swordsman
thanks man, yeah i'm gonna try to turn it into a qualityish instrument gonna give it a good setup, clean/sand down the neck ...etc
Guitarfrenzy
I have to say; that's very neat. A strat style body with the monkey grip on it. I don't think I've ever seen one done quite like that before. Very well done.
Ki swordsman
wow thanks, i'm stoked to have such great builders saying it's good!
eddiefletcher
so you should it looks great! When i meant deep I meant to the pickguard side, I was worried it may mean you have to change the shape of the pickguard to fit. Sorry for the poor explaination. I was origianally a pom y'know.! But other than that the job is top. Excellent!
Ki swordsman
wow thankyou man! this gives an idea of it's placement and the depth of the rear cut
