rick_here
Vote. Noting whatever "styles/genres" that may be overlapping &/or "separate" (thus making this Poll Subjective, if not Irrelevant)....??? Tell which & why.
rick_here
My vote's: Kottke. The guy is entirely amazing (saw him twice). If he ever "went electric".......move over Steve Vai!!!! (Hello, Jeff Beck)!!!
LGM Guitars
Martin Simpson, The first time I heard him play I was blown away, However, the most amazing player I've ever seen with an acoustic was Richie Havens. He had me nearly in tears with the emotion he was invoking into his music. It was the most amazing concert I've ever seen.

Saber
Tommy Emmanuel. I saw him at the Montreal Jazz Fest and was so impressed, I went back to see his second show the following evening.
rick_here
Strangely-so....I saw Martin Simpson in concert just once........(nevermind the details). I was [Literally] Blown-Away...but the story is too-subjective to post on the web. Richie Havens. Who knew? (yaaaaaaaay)!!!!!

tirapop
tirapop- How soooooooooo......... Is there a question in there?
mushy the shroom
I would have to go with someone named Willy Porter- think of him as a fusion between folk and rock, with amazing guitar chords/licks. But, I can't get over this other guy named Justin King. He's kind of like a mix between Eddie and Yngwie on acoustic guitar.
CGHbuilder86
Laurence Juber would probably be my favorite acoustic guitarist. If you don’t have any of his music you should find some.
rick_here
tirapop- No, that wasn't a question. 'More @: "Yeah, how [that's] oh-so-so!" Depends on genres/styles & just-what yer talkin about, huh? (or something like that)....

Saber
Don Ross Good choice. I saw him play on the same stage as Tommy Emmanuel at the Montreal Jazz Fest but on a different day and he was awesome. He has won the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship twice. Even though Don Ross is a fellow Montrealer, I have to say that I found Tommy Emmanuel more entertaining, though. mushy the shroom
Another of my favorites is Julian Bream. And, how could I have forgotten John Mclaughlin? Thanks for the reminder.
erikbojerik
I must be getting old........ where's John McLaughlin, Paco Delucia, etc.......They get my vote. ...and Al DiMeola. Can't get much better than the Guitar Trio, and they'd get my vote if it weren't for... ...Micheal Hedges.
Librero
Al DiMeola is an incredible player. But among those in the list, I went with Adrian Legg. His music is very emotion-stirring for me. A really solid player. As Joe Satriani put it, this guy's got hammers for fingers.
Southpa
Funny, even before looking at the choices I had Leo Kottke in mind, . But a lot depends on how much exposure we've had. For that matter I have never even heard of half the guys mentioned. I have a recording (somewhere) of SRV doing some unplugged playing on a radio show, . Blew me away! monkey69962000
This isnt a most skillful choice, but my favorite acoustic guitarest. My favorite is Jack Johnson. His songs are very meaningful and i have been listening to him for over 5 years. That like more that 1/3 of my life.
sepultura999
I voted Neil Young. Three guys I'd vote for if there would be Danny Cavanagh from Anathema - though not a fast player, he does some amazing dark acoustic works. He could probably make a whole album of acoustic and it would be in the metal section of a music store lol. The other would be either André Olbrich and Marcus Siepen from Blind Guardian. They do some really fast acoustic pieces and with Hansi Kürsch's Lord of the Rings/Mythology lyrics they add a sort of renaissance style guitar work, very nice when the distortion comes in. -Jamie
Scott Rosenberger
How about Strunz & Farah?
