it doesn't look so bad in the photos there ...

but when i got it, the bridge and strings were rusted, the scratchplate (as seen in photo's) is 'unique' but really really warped and wrecked, the guitar also generated a LOT of hum. the paint was chipped all over, the neck has deep scratches (which are still there), it sounded like crap (and felt like it too). But the fretboard was in nice condition ... just a bit grimey.

so after playing it for about 10minutes, i decided to boil the strings (bad idea) they snapped after reaplication, lcuky I also ordered sum D'Addarios off ebay ....

Then it got dismantled and layed across my bed.

So, by the 14th I had:

# bought new strings

# polished frets (fretboard still needed lemonoil)

# stripped it of all paint

# bought a new scrathplate

# buff'd every screw and all the tremelo system

# replaced the pots

Off Topic-- Glad I got to see it before the 'edit' if you're forced to do one... I hate clickity-clicking through links.

Godin, Are you absolutely sure that PG bandwidth is affected? I'm 90% sure that the bbcode just instructs your browser to download the image from the site that's hosting the image. Therefore, PG never actually downloads and re-uploads the image... that's all handled independently.....

The main reason for the rule was for clean organization of topics and out of consideration for low-bandwidth users (who, in this case, were warned by the thread's title).

Ironically, since nobody ever labels their links properly anyhow, a low-bandwidth user will STILL click all those links to see the pictures anyhow, which will make the whole process take even LONGER than just letting the browser display them all at once.

Back On Topic - that's some sweet work you've got going on there!!! Too bad about the swimming pool pickup cavity, but that issue aside, this refinish has all the makings of a kick-ass strat.

it looks cool but.  Your only supposed to post one pic per post and the size cant exceed 600 pixels on any side.  Those pics are HUGE and there eating up site bandwidth.  If you just replace the IMG tage with the url to the image it would be fine.

the pics are hosted externaly so the are not eating PGs bandwidth.

Yeah, but regardless, these pics are so big it's a pain in the ass to even look at the page, you can't even see the whole image in one pic. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been editted yet.

Nice work! I am going to basicially the same thing as you I am going to re-do or upgrade (or what ever you want to call it) my old strat like guitar. I just need to get some money first.

oh well ... :S

i'm probably gonna buy a new 5-way selector switch, this one with the spring, between the neck and mid pickup, is a bit dangly from overuse if you know what i mean, and i might blow some money on some strap knobs ...

and i might buy a leather strap aswell, this cheap one is useless.

Real purdy! :D If one of those Casino Guitars washes up on the shores of Cali, Fender will throw a fit! :D The headstock shape is trademarked in the US and some other countries. Ya know, people sell Fender decals pretty cheap over E-Bay or you could make one. I bet noone would tell the difference then! B)
