Daniel Sorbera
Tearout is when your going along with your router and it tears out a chunk of wood. Like insted of cutting where the bit is the bit catches and yanks out a big half inch chunk leaving you sitting there on the floor crying

x189player
looks like great fun! as somebody else mentioned, the critical joint is the neck pocket. get that right and all the rest is nice finishing. are you going to bind the edges? nice contrasting white on black is always good, and dresses up a solid paint color. It would be classic on the LP of course, but would look trick on any of the others.
CudBucket
as somebody else mentioned, the critical joint is the neck pocket. get that right and all the rest is nice finishing. That is if you consider fret-spacing, bridge alignment, tuner placement and all the associated routing to be nice finishing.

redwhiteandthemaple
Hey, where did you find that Kelly template? or is that freehand? and good luck on all 4. If I were you my 90% of effort would be on the Kelly. Cuz Kellys are just so nice.. -IR Edited February 14, 2006 by redwhiteandthemaple
Maiden69
I don't know if you have seen a Kelly? Because the one on that pic is way out of proportion and shape! My guess is that it is freehanded. I did mine from a drawing and it turned out a few mm apart from a real one (just checked at a local music store here! The owner liked mine better than Jacksons!) Here is a pic of it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/Maiden69/DSC02019.jpg

I remember seeing that Kelly in one of the GOTM contests I think. Looks sweet. And oh, the lower horn shouldnt be that pointy. The top curve should be bit pointier inwards. And overall it looks really big.. maybe its an illusion. -IR
