Drak
I snookered this veneer last night. Pretty good deal considering I bid on some of her other veneer at $200.00 and LOST! But that's cool, this stuff is beautiful and will make some -ultra-sweet- guitars. Check it out... MADRONE VENEER

It took me a minute to realize there are so many pieces. You could resell half of that stuff and make twice what you paid for it back! Drak
I think it's going to go on some Purpleheart bodies. My local wood guy just got some HUGE 10' planks of P-heart, wide enough for 1-piece bodies too. I bought enough for 3 blanks, and might go back for more, I really like the BONK tone of the stuff, sounds a lot like Cherry, but not all the way to Maple...nice and 'boingy', just the way I like it. I'm already plotting out one body for chambering, prolly get it done tomorrow mawnin' aftuh I feeds the gatuhs in the moat.

Drak
I don't like the purple part of purpleheart either, but the wood had great bonk tone, so I'm gonna try it. And remember, the veneer will be covering the wood top and bottom, and it will be bursted dark on the sides, so no purple will be visible, just the tone of it.. westhemann
interesting idea...let me know what it sounds like
Drak
Also remember, that veneer is 11" wide each piece, so by the time I cut it down, a lot of that center section will be reduced and probably be under the bridge area anyway, so most all of what will be visible on the body will be that crazy 'explosion' figure I love so much. I love things that go boom and things that look like they go boom. And aren't we all getting quite tired of quilted Maple by now? (even tho I have several of them going on, hehehe)
westhemann
yeah...i haveto say i usually don't look twice anymore at a plain flame or quilted top..
fryovanni
Nice looking stuff!! I picked up some Madrone a while back that I want to use for acoustics. The pieces have a gray bookmatched side and then redish/pink to tan color with flamed figure. It was love at first sight when I saw the pieces. I will see if I can get a couple of pics. Madrone is sweet! Peace, Rich
