daveq
What is the difference between the Dinky and Soloist guitars? They look very similar from the pics - is it just materials/pickups/bridges... or is there a difference in the shape/dimensions also? Why do they call it a Dinky anyway? Seems like a strange name. Alarung
Soloist's are Neck-through, Dinky's are bolt-on. There are some other differences, such as wood, and I don't think that the Dinky has any form of contoured heel, but they are very similar in all other respects. The Soloist series does get a bit classier, with fancy inlays and stuff. The Dinky less so.
daveq
OK, that makes sense. I didn't think of the neck-through thing. Any idea why they named it "Dinky" ???
Simo
Isn't the Dinky body slightly smaller? I have an idea that's where the name came from.
haggardguy
I think so, I also think that the soloist has a bigger cutaway on the bottom for fret access but I could be wrong, I'd have to look again.
eclipse666
I think its called Dinky because Dinkys are usually their entrance guitars and they don't have a tonne of special features.... I think this because I always called my toy cars Dinky Cars as a kid.... you know those little cheap hot wheel things?
lovekraft
The Dinky body is scaled down to 7/8 the size of a standard Strat. They also made a Super-Dinky (SDK) with an even smaller body.
