themetalhankey
just wanting to make sure before i cut my angled headstock so its good. I'm thinking of 8 inches, oh and this is for a 6 string guitar with all the tuning machines on 1 side
Southpa
about 7 1/4"
JohnRossitter
Just to be safe do it as 10" at first and do the joint. You can always take wood away.
verhoevenc
about 7 1/2" ?!?!?! My PRSs headstock is a HAIR over 6"... I have a hardtime believing the average is 7.5-10" "to be safe". I can see how perhaps a fender style step down headstock could be longer... and if that's what his question is refering to, then yeah, sure. But like I said, my PRS above is only like 6 1/16" Chris
jay5
PRS headstocks are pretty squatty in the grand scheme. I certainly think 7.5" plus is a safe measurement for a 3X3. If you know what style headstock your using whay dont you just draw it out (or at least the tuner hole spacing)? Then you'll know for sure. RGman
RG headstocks are about 7 1/4 inches for 6 strings.
biliousfrog
Draw it full scale. Draw the strings from the saddle & over the nut & continue them for 10" or so. Now work out where each tuner will go along those lines. You should now know how much space you need for a headstock with straight string pull. Please read the first post, he clearly says that it's for a 6 in line not a 3 a side.
