EMG 89

I haven't had much luck trying to find out if the EMG-89 comes with a quick-connect cable like the other models do. I'm planning on calling them Monday but it would help if I knew sooner than that. The reason I'm not sure about the 89 is that it has more wires that the other models and the one I saw on Ebay had a "hard-wired" connection.

i'm not sure, but i'd be willing to bet that the new 89's have the quick connect system, the new passive emg's have 5 wire quick connect on their pickups, so there's no reason why emg wouldn't use that same clip on the 89, but i'd also call just to be sure

What year did they start the quick connect wiring? I think the PUP I'm looking at was from 2001.

i think they started at about that time.i think it probably is a quick connect,but i doubt it would interchange with other humbuckers because of the split

I had one a while ago and it was a direct wire...not the quick connect, but it was also an older model, so it may have been retrofitted on the newer versions.
