dawnofzion
Has anyone tried out the new GFS power rails or Crunchy rails yet? I am interested in these for my current build. Also Has anyone tried the high output zebra set from Guitarheads.net? just wondering if anyone has any experience with these pickups? zyonsdream
I've used several of the guitar heads pickups. I absolutely love their active humbuckers and I use one in my every day plaing guitar. Much better than EMG, hands down. the passive pups are great too. I've used 4 sets of them in the past. Also Has anyone tried the high output zebra set from Guitarheads.net? just wondering if anyone has any experience with these pickups? i love the actives. but they lack a good clean tone badly. i was very very dissapointed with the zebra set from them though. no crunch to them. maybe i just got a bad set. zyonsdream
I thought the actives had a much more genuine tone that EMG. They don’t have that sizzle that’s common with EMG. They almost seem to have a PAF sound. I think they are a good ‘tween pickup right in the middle of Emg and SD’s blackouts. As we know though, tone is an absolute personal preference! dawnofzion
what guitarheads passive set would you guys recommend for a good heavy sound? Edited December 11, 2007 by dawnofzion
zyonsdream
The Hexbuckers are good for metal
killemall8
The Hexbuckers are good for metal those are the ones i had so much trouble with. they had like no gain at all, and only medium volume. he claims they are the highest output pickups on the market
dawnofzion
so does anyone have actual experience with the ones he has labeled as "high output zebra set"? Not the hexbuckers. I am leaning more toward the power rails from GFS than the guitarheads right now.
jetmech
I just put a GFS Power Rails in my cheapo Ibanez. It sounds great. Lots of crunch, volume and tone. Go for it.
crafty
Spend a few bucks more and get some L-500XLs from Bill and Becky Lawrence instead...

Remember, the mothers are 4 rails in a normal HB space.
