RDub - I like the shape and the colour. to me the skulls take away from something that could be much classier

AE777 - I really like this shape and the woods and construction looks great but personally i reckon it needs a bit more colour. I am not sure about the heel shape. its a bit square on an otherwise curvy guitar. Since its a 12 string i would have pushed the neck into the body a bit further for stability, but then i would probably never consider playign the 24th fret on a 12 string :D

Jaden - I am in a swirl mood and really liking this. once of the neatest swirls i have seen. i would like to see pink and green humbuckers to complete the look :D The "f-holes" are clever but i think i would prefer it without

decadentjon - The horns are perhaps a little bulbous and the headstock a little square... but other than that this really appeals to me. The woods look great and construction is very neat. Its got a late 70's, early 80's feel about it, something like a travis bean or peavey T-60. i like that a lot so i voted for it

Jake - this looks really well done but i would have liked to see a bigger picture of the front. The strong woods grains make it hard for me to pick out the detail work. nice matching on the truss rod cover

scottyd - stunning again. i love the front of it, not sure the back matches well - although still looks great in its own right. also i think some carving of teh scroll on the reverse would have been a nice touch - albeit completely pointless B)

G1 - there is a lot going on here, most of which i like. some possibly OTT but thats got to be good really! your 3rd pic seems to show some damage below the sound hole and on the end of the body - other than that i nearly voted for it because i usually like the crazier stuff

BigD - great slab of mahogany. i like the spalt but am not sure the gold is doing ti any favours. The spalt is raw and earthy looking, cant help but think chrome of black may suit it better

Some great work!

RDub - the Skull - Love the finish and the overall look but for me the skulls knobs ruin the look of it - plain black dome knobs and it would look great

AprilEthereal777 - "Toneflow" - love the top and the shape - however I personally would of liked to see a bit of carving done to the top - I read the build and you said you didn't so not to take away the look from the wood - personally I think it would added. Then minor-ish things controls seem to be miles away from the bridge and a matching cover on the back would of look far better.

Jaden - "The Pablo-Saurus Rex" - I've got say I think this guitar looks great! Inclusive of the F holes! Very clean work all round. :D

decadentjon - Finkelstein - Think this is also great looking guitar apart from the headstock - it suits the style of guitar sure but I just aren't 100% on whether I like or not.

Guitars by Jake - "Zebra from hell" - Looks great - but need a better picture of the guitar as a whole as Wez said can't really make out the detail of work put into it.

scottyd - Uli's - Nice burl! Like pretty much everything even the gold components (which is something I rarely like!) however I personally think the maple back looks out of place and is a little bit of an overkill.

g1_ - "Mtawarira" - Sure is a beast! I like pretty much everything from the shape to the headstock to the matching knobs but for me there is just tooooooo much going on with the woods - don't get me wrong I love a good bit of wood porn - but I think you've got slightly carried away with the amount of laminates used! :D I think that design with a single wood for the body and a rosewood or ebony fingerboard would look unreal.

bigdguitars - a natty lp - I can't get with this one I'm afraid - for me everything except the mahogany back is wrong - don't get me wrong here the workmanship looks great. I really don't like the grain in the spalt burl either looks in my eyes too much akin to a faux formica granite. Then there is gold everything which I really don't think goes with the burl either.

So my vote goes to The Pablo-Saurus Rex by a whisker over the Finkelstein.

Great work everyone! B)

I like the "toneflow", original and still a good design. Being a 12-string makes it kinda special too. Its one pretty guitar.

The finkelstein is a close second. Its cool but the big horns look out of place.

My vote is for Jaden. I love Paul Gilbert. Awesome 80's guitar. That is totally something he would have played. Nice work.

thanks man :D - like Paul says, "you can take the man out of the 80's" :D

the next one of these is going to be fluoro pink and green - aargh..

I wish you could split your vote ! - it was a tough one this month.

I loved the LP's and took some time to decide, in the end I voted for RDub, I loved the spalt top on the BigD and the pure stylish simplicity but im a sucker for a shred machine and went with RDub's.

if it were mine I would have turned the skulls thorugh 90º and changed the knobs...

cool ! - a hard month to vote..

Looks like this will be a much closer decision than last month B)

"The skull" - I like it. The top looks great but the skull knobs... no, I don't like those.

"Toneflow" - Wow! Only two reasons why it didn't get my vote: e-cavity cover & there is a bass in the competition which I like at least as much, so as a bassist... :D

"The Pablo-Saurus Rex" - reantel called it an "awesome 80's guitar" and that's exactly why I don't like it... "80's", the colors. Cool project, but not for me...

"Finkelstein" - Good work, but honestly, the swamp ash & the pickguard just don't look good at all to me :D

"Zebra from hell" - Yeah! The cocobolo accent is a bit much for me, but the rest seems very cool

"Uli's" - Got my vote. Beautiful shape and what a great top... the neck-body connection looks a bit weird (that piece of wood doesn't seem to "belong" there) and I'm not sure if I really like the gold hardware, but OMG, the shape and that top... can't stop looking at it. Oh, and I'm not a fan of the red side markers, but who cares

"Mtawarira" - I agree with most of the others, maybe a bit too much, but still a great instrument. Definitly among my Top5 this month... so many wonderful instruments

"Natty LP" - Another reason why it was such a hard decision for me this month...

Had to vote against my own work!! Big D for me. Love everything but the knobs. Something about the abalone throws it off for me.

Really like the looks of all the rest, too. Tough competition!

As for mine, I agree with everyones assesment, and the knobs have to go. Already got a set of tele style knobs on order for it.

Sorry about the pics, Guess im not too skilled with a camera! Im learning, though! I had to vote for Scotty d. I like the Idea of putting a nice piece of wood on the back, instead of just not worrying about it because its the back! Big d would have been my second choice. (Guess I got a thing for nice burls!) All were great, making it a tough decision. There is definately some talent here!

BigD for me. That mahogany back is amazing (not to mention the top). The only thing I would do different is swap out the cheesy knobs and put a logo on the headstock. It looks pretty bare with no logo.

+1, the knobs and the cover plates and headstock were the reason I didn't vote for it.

g1_, you need to post more than only entries... I know a lot of people here will love to see more of those bass being build than just posted as an entry.

Sorry the knobs make it worse I tried a couple of different sets and plain gold was well plain. I tried to keep the natural look but that means I should have turned my own knobs, which would have been the thing to do. I didn't want to do a cheesy big d logo because it's the wrong this to do.

This top was really spalty and I Didnt want to do the epoxy mess.

All the guitars are nice again great job to all

Whatever it takes to bring it to the next level! That's why you haven't seen any of my build on GOTM in a loooong time.

Toneflow this month was my choice :D Just liked the overall design and its original. Nice timber aswell.

Big d: Great job on the LP looks tidy! The only things i didn't like was the gold hardware and the headstock is a little plain but great work!

G1: Pretty crazy build you got going on there, good job on the back cover it matches really well.

Jaden: Love the ghost f holes you got goin on there and really love the 80's theme!

RDub: Great work on the build. You have addressed the knobs so it should finish it off nicely!

Decadentjon: Like the scratchplate it looks great with the p/ups just not sure of the horns, abit bulky IMO but looks like a great build. The heal looks comfortable also. :D

Jake: Looks like a great build. Beautiful timbers and good job on the cavity cover. I do like logos on headstocks though. Well done on your first year!

Scottyd: Awesome work as usual. The only thing im not a fan of is the exposed neck in the body. But hey im not you, nor as good.

Good Month again!
