This contest is open to any and all members that enter and will be continued each month for a place showing your creation on the homepage! The winner(s) of course will have his/her guitar featured on the homepage of Project Guitar.com and if you have a website the picture will link directly to it if you so choose (even commercial site's). If your a forum member you will also be upgraded to a Featured member which allows you to see the Advanced Chat section and download area. So show us your creation in this thread! You've got till sometime around the 23rd or 24th of November then this thread gets locked and the voting starts! Any Post that is not an entry will be deleted, feel free to start a new thread to discuss any guitar entered this month There may be more then one poll to determine winners in different catagorys at the end of this contest! The most classical of all electric guitars. Is there anything at all to add? Well maybe some. I have a long love/hate relationship with Telecasters. It has a fantastic bridge pickup and a disastrous neck pickup. They can be back breaking heavy and personally I'm no fan of the full 25.5" Fender scale length. So when I set out to build a new demo guitar I designed it as I would like to see a really nice Telly. First I reduced the scale length to 25". I traded the traditional neck pickup for a mini-humbucker with more character and oumph. I have always wanted a Telecaster with a Bigsby so this was my chance to try that out. A Bigsby might not be known to stay in tune during violent use, but with locking tuners, graphite string trees, bridge saddles and nut (Earvana for fantastic intonation, or a as a person said "this is the best guitar I have ever tried when it comes to play in tune"), it stays in tune whatever I do to it. A substantially thinner body made from really resonant and light swap ash makes it a really comfortable guitar to use on a strap and gives it a really good sound. For a look that really makes it stick out I dyed it blue with accentuated grain in black and bindings and pick guard in white. The result is a beauty that plays like a dream. NotYou Posted November 11, 2010 Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) "Stagolee" It was named after the folk/blues song (also called "Stack O'Lee", "Stackerlee", "Stagalee", "Stagger Lee, and so on). The Black Keys did my favorite version of the song and their guitar sound was my benchmark for this guitar. I'm pretty proud of the guitar's tone. This was a tough finish to pull off. I really had to get innovative with it. At one point I was even grinding sawdust into the clear coat and the red paint with my hand. The bridge was especially hard to figure out; it used to be chrome. The tailpiece is a found object. I'm still not sure what was. I assume it was part of a gate lock of some kind. Whatever it is, I got giddy like a little girl when I found it. I guess I won't say too much about it. It kind of speaks for itself. This guitar sounds great, it's not just meant to look interesting. It's sound is surprisingly twangy and bold for a semi-hollow; it was made for blues and really think I captured that sound. Its an Idea I had floating around in my head for a while and I'm extremely pleased how it turned out. Not only is this a new model, but it sports some one of a kind very cool 8 string "Tele" style pickups. I built the bobbins and neck cover then shipped them off to Bryan Gunsher at BG-Pups to do what he does so well. He nailed the tones I was after first try, I would not change a thing.
