westhemann
Cleaned up the pocket and built my awesome neck jig. After the squeeze out stopped I removed the tape on the top of the body
westhemann
i guess I was naive to think the epoxy wouldn't penetrate the tape
westhemann
At least the stained body stayed glue free. That would have been a total nightmare.
westhemann
It was pretty easy to remove the glue with a razor blade while the epoxy was still only soft set.A little masking and sandpaper work will finish that out i think
westhemann
By the way..how deep did the stain penetrate?Pretty deep I think. No sanding that out
westhemann
Everything is blacked out. All I have left is to do a bit of touch up sanding and then the final finish coats before assembly. It looks like it will be 8 days total start to finish. westhemann
Of all the stupid things getting in my way,I am held up in my final assembly by an allen wrench. This particular Floyd has a slightly larger size allen screw on the string locks at the bridge....every other floyd I have is a 3mm,and my 4mm is too big...and something tells me I need to take the damn bridge with me to get the right size.. westhemann
F-ing imperial sized of all things.Glad I took it with me i would not have guessed that a Floyd would be imperial sized.

westhemann
The wiring is interesting Works perfectly.Push/pull pot pushed is humbucker pulled is split.I think the guitar needs to settle a bit to get a true sound out of it but it played perfectly with no buzzing or weird noises as soon as it was strung up.I am happy with my decision to go back to using my fret press and nickel frets. This thing is a monster already...smooth mahogany tones with a bit of edge from the maple neck. crazygtr
Not a fan of the strat type jack, prefer the recessed side jack, but overall that's a gutar I would love to play.
westhemann
I just stopped doing the recessed side jack because some guys here were saying they had a habit of going out...then shortly after I had two in a row not work straight out of the wrapper...so I figure why risk it when these strat buggers are pretty dang cool. Plus they can be installed on the sides of guitars as well See it?
westhemann
I think I may ditch the split pot.The split tone is useless,so why even have the distraction? using it cuts the volume very noticeably, and the tone is very trebly
curtisa
How about series/parallel switching instead?
westhemann
I could certainly try it.The modification looks like a 5 minute project
