bob123
Im speaking directly of the "dramatic" colored woods like purpleheart and padauk woods. They are known to fade to a very less dramatic color over time, but I was curious if you used a UV blocking clear, would they sustain their color? ScottR
I have not personally tried it, but my understanding is yes, that is the formula for sustaining the original colors the longest. That and not storing them near a window. SR
Ripthorn
Using them will slow down the process, but the process will happen over time anyway. There is no perfect solution to prevent fading indefinitely, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth using the UV inhibiting finishes.
Prostheta
Definitely. Exposure to UV is one thing, but there is also oxidation to consider. Generally you won't be able to prevent either over the long term unless you store the guitar in a dark Argon-filled chamber ;-)
