RAI6
So, this is my plywood template for my first project. Don't know when I'll get around to it, as I need to find someone with the right tools that I could borrow... Let me know what you think of the design. There are some rough placements of neck pocket and such, but they're not even close to accurate....
Simo
I like the design a lot

Maher
look real nice, are you putting a contour on the front???
RAI6
Thanks guys! The contours are standard. Arm in the front, belly in the back, and slight contour for the neck heel... A combo of the old and new JEMs.... And then the jack will be like Hamer used on their Californian series. A standard Strat jack, but on the side (below the strap pin). Do you see anything that would need changing?
spirit
Looks cool. Seems to me alot of people don't do the standard strat/tele/lp/whatever copy, which is good. The world always needs more variation!
skibum5545
Are you making a neck or buying one? If you're making a neck, what'd be REALLY cool is if you had no heel whatsoever, and the neck extended farther onto/into the body. The lower cutaway looks like it could handle that in terms of upper fret access, as long as you still have room for pickups, etc. Kind of like on the Warmoth Gecko basses: my $.
RAI6
I will be buying a neck, but I haven't decided if I'm going bolt-on, or neck-thru. If it's neck-thru, the contour on the back will taken down completely. And I can see the similarities to the Gecko... The lower horn is really small. I've always thought "why keep all that wood there? It will just be in the way..." So, there it is.

But maybe thats because that is the design on my POS Rogue.
Boggs
Has a strong Kubicki resemblence which is very cool. My friend is building a guitar based on Paul Kubicki's bass designs since he has two Kubicki basses. It is coming along very well and will look great when it is done. El Dangerouso
I think your design is VERY cool. Ibanez on top, LP on the bottom. It's kind of like a mullet, business in the front, party in the back! Best of luck with the project and PLEASE keep us updated.
