RGGR Are you saying that you will be making a rough shape of the guitar, then covering it in fiberglass resin?? That actually sounds like a cool idea, I been toying with the idea of making a sheet metal acoustic, but with a wood core, yea, its still in the design stage Curtis

my post here might sound goofy, but its 100% how i feel about tone tone is a subjective thing, you can have someone like Tom Delonge say that Slayers tone is utter crap, but then have him turn around and say that Barney playing the flute is the best tone out there, its a totally subjective and no matter who you ask, or how much you try and convince them, its going to be a personal thing My gear, is really simple, so simple infact, i only own 2 patch cords, and probaly will buy just one more so i can hook a wah pedal to my rig, other then that, i have no use for many stomp boxs, I use a Boss HM-2 distortion pedal, straight into my Peavey Bandit 112, sure its not the greatest amp, but I am still workin on getting my half stack... I play alot at school these days for my music class, there are about 9 different guitarist in the class, with 9 different playin styles, theres Emo, Screamo, Metal (i am the only metal head there) jazz, rock, classical, the list goes on and on forever There is a guitarist in my class, his name is alex, he will not play any amp except his own, which is: 2 marshall MG series heads, with two 4 x 12 cabs, does he need it, hell no, why does he play it? because hes a rich little snob and thinks his band "flood" is the greatest band out there, they are a decent band, but himself and the bassist rely on there pedals (each has 15 pedals) Anyways, thats my little rant, i am really tired, and like i said earlier, it might sound goofy, but hey, i dont care really Curtis

try your local saw mill, you can make a neck out of different woods other then maple, and they probaly wont mind sellin you some maple pretty cheap, try and get it 2X larger then needed, then when you get it back to your place, plane all 4 edges just enough to expose new wood, then let it sit in a room with a constant tempreture for like 2 or 3 weeks (maybe more?) i can almost gaurentee it will warp a little bit, now that its done warping, you can plane it out and make your neck, or 2 necks if you got enough wood Hope this helps Curtis

what kinda body is it for? start off by giving him the end of the heel mesurment (across) and the thickness, and mesure the neck heel (from the very bottom of the neck and make your way towards the headstock, only mesure the heel though) this will not be 100% accurate for some bodies or necks i dont think, but that will give you the idea Curtis

what kind of bass is it?? are you sure its not adjustbale at the heel? Curtis

not finished yet, but the neck has been laminated together since, well, there was snow on the ground, and i just finished shaping it and sanding it, and its still straight as an arrow, so its not warped for sure I think i payed like 25 bucks canadian for 2 peices of maple, so i have some scraps, but not enough for another neck Curtis

that home depot maple seem to work great for my Jem neck Whole Album Curtis

why does it have to be done at the end of next week? if its a personal deadline, PUT IT OFF, unless you want a crap taculor sounding guitar, put it off, if its for a school project or something, tell the teacher that it is very important to have it be put off, if its for a "client" put it off and give them the reason its not finished is that you didnt want to risk a good guitar by a sketchy calculation. ok, my major music assignment is coming up soon, and i have been wrestling the idea of this song, it is very metallica influenced, think Trapped under ice, the starting ---------- ---------- ---------- -----0-2- -----0-2- -0-0----- like that, now, my question is, is it immoral to use part of that song (just that part there,) and say on the assigment "heavily influenced by metallica" or something??
