  1. I use GHS boomers on my electric, i have used the same strings on my washburn for approximetly 6 months now, and they still sound new, and i play every day for approximetly 2-3 hours a day, i take good care of my strings, lol Curtis
  2. my 7 string design (shh, it cant be revealed yet!) will be shaped like "bullets" as well, but shh, its a secret project looking great Curtis
  3. You have an explorer, is that your only guitar? My first guitar was a POS commadore acoustic, i still have it and love it to death, it can be seen here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur.../Allguitars.jpg (third one to the left^^) I played on that guitar for 1 year, finally got decent enough to buy an electric, so i bought that red strat copy off my friend, it also came with a little 25 watt Yamaha amp, that amp was the biggest pos i ever played on, it sounded like crap, and it wasnt even loud enough for my liking, anyways, i played on that stuff for about a year, switching back and forth between the acoustic and electric, i then bought a Peavey Bandit 80 watt amp, i still have it and wont be parting with it for a long time. The last guitar you see there is my first attempt at building, it was a Randy Rhoads V copy, i fifnished it, but the scale length was off, so it sucked, seriously I took all the crap outta that guitar and waited a little bit, got some wood, for free by the way (yea, you can get it, just ask the right person!) i ended up spending 20 bucks for my maple neck, and since I like to have nice stuff, i bought SD 59's pickups, Gotoh TOM bridge, Gotoh mini machine heads, speed knobs, and the works, it cost a pretty penny, but i was happy with my purchase, you would be too if you ended up spending close to 400 bucks I am only 16 years old, mind you, i have had jobs since i was 14, mowing lawns, pumping gas, i worked in a wood shop, i worked in a dump truck place greasing dump trucks, i now work at a small enging shop, i am classified as a "stripper" since i remove all the parts off sleds, dirt bikes, quads, that kinda stuff I used to be like you, no money, and wanted something, so i worked my butt off and bought the stuff I wanted by the way, heres my project, thats what free wood looks like: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v314/cur...emProgress2.jpg Curtis

  15. I can machine my own inserts at school, but i didnt know if it would be easier to buy them (I would just stick them on the lathe, drill a hole in the center, tap it for the bolt and glue them into the neck) Edit I have been thinking of what i will get done tommorow, the routing (i have everything set up, just need to attack it with the router, lol) after i get the routing done, i am going to drill for the jack, then start finishing sanding, and go to 300 tommorow, then bring in my own paper and go to 1000 thursday, and then on friday apply my finish and friday night apply my clear friday while i am waiting for finish to dry, i will be routing the T rod and attaching F board and finish sanding the neck, will be applying finish and clear to neck on saturday, then saturday ngiht after i get home from my BMX trip, I will do the wet sanding and final clears Sunday, i shall be wiring and testing, monday i shall be attaching neck, monday ngiht i shall be playing lol Curtis
  16. why would it sound like ass??? It sounds decent with the speakers in it now running through my truck (and i played Pantera, Metallica, Ozzy, Slayer and Judas Priest through it) and thought it sounded decent, maybe i should forget the lights and use tweeters to balance out the sound?? or will the closed back just really effect it to much? Curtis

  19. ok, got my router bit today, but it wasnt a working class, i hate theory, so i am routing tommorow, i didnt think a Freud top bearing straight flute bit would be 43.08 canadian Curtis
  20. ok, hows this, I really still want to do this, so, i am going to do it!! I bought a set of subs for my truck, now, i dont plan on using them, its a kenwood carpetted box, two 10 inch subs, 4 tweeters, 2 vent holes, so, i take out the 2 subs, solder in 2 celestion 10 inch speakers, take out the tweeters and put in (not sure yet, maybe strobe lights? LOL) and wire it in, its already in a carpeted box and looks great, and i still have quick disconects for it!! will it work?? Curtis
  21. OK, I am going to hopefully buying my router bit tommorow at lunch and then i can route out the rody, finally!! I have a few concerns about the neck pocket though, so, here they are I know basswood is not the strongest wood out there, and I dont want the neck pocket screws to eventually strip and pull out, probaly wont happen anyways, but it will make me sleep better at night knowin nothin will happen to my baby!! If I put in inserts, how much of an advantage do I have over just screwin the neck in?? if any advantage?? Do I have to use the metal plate at the back like my strat copy has?? I seen lots of guitars without it, but I like ot be on the safe side... Thats it for now, thnaks!!! Curtis
  22. ahh, i see, i dont even have the file anymore, so, i didnt know for sure No progress, i have to get a router bit, dang school said they had one, but they dont, and now i have to spend 25 bucks i dont have for it (thank god for visa!!) Curtis
