  1. looks great! did that washburn come fitted for the locking nut?
  2. here is where im at so far. i had like a 2 week period where i could not get anything done because i was broke. but finally got the neck template and the neck wood(flame maple). it is almost impossible to even see the figure on the neck, but assure you its there! i have decided i am going to go with a cocobolo fretboard. it matches this mahogany well. please comment! here are some pics body neck mockup: Kl headstock (modified) http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...progress002.jpg Neck wood, neck template, and neck http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb262/k...progress003.jpg
  3. yup zakks version. i got it from ebay. from a seller called "tricked out guitar" i think they are being sold for 24 now. still a great deal. they have a ton of great pickups for cheap. but i just checked and they dont have them in stock right now. but check out the store http://stores.ebay.com/Tricked-Out-Guitar and here is a pickup that will sound better than this one http://cgi.ebay.com/TOG-HOT-BLADE-QUAD-RAI...0QQcmdZViewItem
  4. ok thanks i will see what i can do when i get it.
  5. i actually dont even have it yet, i ordered it from stew mac on friday and it should be here by the weekend. does the 18" length include the adjuster nut? because if it does that gives a little more room. how do you shorten the threads?
  6. what do i do? if i do a 24.75 scale the 18 inch truss rod is the same lenght as the fretboard.(22 frets) i know i should have figured this out before i bought the rod from stew mac, but the instructions said to get the 18" length for electric guitars. but even if it were a 25.5" scale with 22 frets, you would still only have about .5" inch clearence before you get to the end of the fretboard. and for a 24" scale length neck, which i was planning on doing, it makes it impossible. is there anyway i can modify the rod or something to make it work? PLEASE HELP!
  7. wal mart guitars really dont sound that bad with upgraded electronics. it has a alder body and 25.5 scale. sorry for the bad playing, sounds a little bit fuzzy, but not too bad. some of you will think it sounds horrible, but ok. here ya go please please please comment! to me this is a great pickup for 22 bucks. so let me know what you think! http://h1.ripway.com/killemall1983/luieguitardemoMM.WAV
  8. i dont think you can. ive never seen it done
  9. even if you dont use a grain filler, you should always use some kind of sealer. sealer prevents a finish from "soaking in" to the finish, what i am positive is happening to your body.
  10. the thing about that with the ouput jack in that location is you can easily step on the cord and pull it out. thats the only thing i dont like about it.
  11. NEVER MIND. I FINALLY FOUND INSTRUCTIONS. \
  12. \ any specific brand of epoxy? what would you recomend?
  13. you could just try and build the neck. a 24 scale neck is the same as a 25.5 scale with the first fret cut off.
  14. maybe i missed this in a previous post, but what did you use to glue the acrylic onto the body?
  15. the only ones i have seen have been acrlyic mirror, like in my first post. acrylic mirror is plexiglass mirror. it is used in places that regular mirror might break. most claim to be unbreakable.
  16. whats the best way? i cant find anything about how to secure it to the top. i would think some kind of epoxy, because i would really hate to use screws. and by the way, this is acrylic mirror im thinking of. any ideas?
  17. why are active pickups always covered? does it have to do with the pre amp or something? or is it because the pickups have exposed bars underneat? or is it just for looks? i have yet to see a non covered active pickup.
  18. great. i diddnt know if it had a black base dye first or if it was just the 3d ness of the quilt. thanks!
  19. anybody know what color or what mixture you need from stewmac to get this color? or if you even can? thanks
  20. an esp ec 1000 in black cherry because i like the abalone inlays and binding, or a jackson RR1 in eds. but MUST have emgs
  21. why would you need to repaint the ibanez?! that already has a 400$ chameleon paint job! and how can yo not like the block inlays on a epi/gibson? i would go for the ibanez, pickups can always be changed, reverse inlays are awesome, and it was very comfortable to play for me. and anyone playing metal woul know you would never play it sitting down anyway.
  22. do you a bin price on the other ones? i would need a 24.75" scale one.
  23. tom bridges are supposed to be staggered
  24. is soft maple bad for necks? . if it is good to build necks, then i can get it cheap with huge figure. right after i posted this i found a bunch of posts even with the same sell on ebay. but i have yet to find something on using it for necks. any suggestions? never mind, i found some stuff and the end of the search results.
