  1. hi i was wondering if any one knew how deep to route a teunomatic bridge to eliminate a neck angle. I dont feel comftorable routing an angle on my neck right know becuase im just starting and if i could use my bridge with out an angle it would save me from having to buy a new one. Thanks in advance. george
  2. i know carvin mainly recomends it for there basses and 7 strings becuase of its generally dark tone. im not to sure about the feel though.
  3. yah im pretty sure its rosewood were would you find that type of soap because i would really like it to all match up. Thanks for the help
  4. didnt reallize how great you made it look until i checked out the before pics. You really breathed new life into that guitar. Great job.
  5. does anyone know the best way to finish the rosewood that has been scalloped if not we are leaving it unfinished.
  6. thats actually a great spot for them i have on offs on my teisco and i always hit them and turn on/off stuff that i dont want to. Akso on mine it really stinks because if one of the switches goes half way it shorts the guitar and you get no sound. With them under the bridge its gonna look sick and function good. It looks amazing i love how the pickups just blend right in. Keep up the great work.
  7. ya were only painting the covers to see what looks better blue or green it will ultimatley end up with dimarzio pickups.
  8. Thanks for your oppinion.we talked about that combination we will probably paint the old covers to the silvertone pickups to see what looks best. were a glam style band so we really want are guitars to stand out from the crowd and tracking down an 80's axe that isnt bruised and abused is getting very diffucult so i started moding are guitars. Im hoping it will look really cool.
  9. I need you guys opinion do you think blue pickups and green knobs would look good on the yellow pickguard?
  10. it looks realy nice one question though what are the 3 holes below the bridge are they for switches or something?
  11. started the first coat of yellow on the old white pick guard it should look pretty sick with a very 80's vibe.
  12. the gibson tour is sick but when they said they wait 4 days till wet sand and buffing i dont believe them isnt that way to quick to buff with laquer?
  13. hey guys i just started work on a silvertone that the other guitarist in my band has im doing it at cost but its coming out cool. It had a really cheasy sunburst on it so i painted it a solid blue for him were aso putting in blue pickups and a yellow pick gaurd. Ill post pics soon. hope you guys like it! silvertones website pic (the first color) basecoat Edit: just wanted to add a funny little bit about silvertone quality control. When i took the bridge off to refinish the body i found a piece of masking tape. I got a little confused and asked my friend if anyone had done finish work on it before. he said no. I peeled off the tape to find out they had drilled the holes for the trem wrong and had covered there mistake with blue masking tape. There were like 5 holes drilled crooked above the straight "right" holes. (who knows if there dead on i still havent checked. has any one else run into this kinda stuff with silvertone?
  14. thanks ill try that tommorow night after i get out from work hopefully it is only that i dont want to have to pay someone to do it. (wiring is not my forte) Im better at the woodworking end of building so im a little nervous about working on it.
  15. one thing you could do (without making it a hollow body) is make some wood blocks the size and shape of the routes glue them in, sand them flush, route the cavitys you do want, then hide all the work with a solid color finish. i really like the way its turning out. Cant wait to see it done.
  16. the fourth just set me back even more no mail means no bits now im starting to worry that there bits werent even worth it stew-mac claim to be extra long for routing thick bodys but im not sure has any one tried them?
  17. pretty cool reminds me of james hetfields explorer thats a real cool look. How does it feel though the diamond plate must get irratating if you rest your arm on it thats the only thing thats made me not use diamond plate on any of my guitars yet i love the look but always figured it would be uncomfturable.
  18. thats pretty sick i never even knew about that guitar it is relly cool looking who knows mayby yours will be better in the end anyways more to how you want it then the way the factory does ( i dont think any one would modify a 1 of 100 guitar so building its alot better)
  19. thats pretty cool i never thought of gluing the wood together like that to make a rhoads ive always been disapointed because i couldnt get a board big enough to make one but i think i might try laminating the wood like that.
  20. it does look cooler but i think it is not as practicle. I love that guitar do you know what model it was?
  21. that flame is really nice looking. Have you thought about piezo saddles for an acoustic like tone the sounds would be infanate then ( wiring would probably be very tight though)
  22. thanks jon i think i might try that it looks amazing greta job so far cant wait to see it done.
  23. Aren't they overpriced? It drives me crazy! I'm in northeast Ohio and I hope to pick up some stuff from them in person on the way to DC (skip the shipping). They have a lot of great stuff, and they're helpful. But I signed up for their "trade newsletter", and it's basically one big ad cycling through the stuff in their catalog. I just delete it now... but they have great service, etc., more positive than negative. ya but the way I saw it was it was easyer to get it from them seeing as their all about guitar tools instead of tracking down stuff at lowes i wont buy stupid stuff from them because they are way overpriced but for router bits and stuff like that i will i like there templates too big time saver lol.
  24. could you post a pic my computers too slow for you tube (i hate dial up lol)
