Saw this on hackaday.com and was wondering... could you put this into a guitar? the mod was designed to make the controller think that you are pressing the right trigger super fast. cparsell said that he made the mod originally with a potentiometer to dial in how fast the thing would shoot. is it possible to use this chip to cut the signal to ground? (keeping the pot so you can control how fast it does) creating a signature tom morello/buckethead effect? I'm no whiz at electronics, but I know that pickups generate around 2 volts or so, and this chip runs off 5 volts... so I'm assuming you could change the values of the resistors, capacitors and such? any ideas?

cant intonation be fixed? i'll try and post some pics but in short the 'd' and 'g' strings are fine but low e is far back and high is really pretty close.

I'd assume that they would sound like switching from position 1 and 2 on a strat. 'White noise flutter' from position 1-5 would sound like a strat too. Any single coil (as far as I know) has that 60-cycle hum, except for fender noisless or mini humbuckers. Not very noticible, IMO.

no hard feelings man. i had the strangest craving to make supertrat. it lasted 2 days. now a have the normal craving for a rhoads like yours. did you get your template at guitarplansunlimited?

any would be good. but i would go out and buy original gibson pickups for your les paul. I have never found a pickup with more clarity than those found on stock SG's.

Google my friend. In short, you can use either value with any pickup, 500K will give you a warmer tone, and 250K a brighter tone. Anything you want my friend. You could use it for a series/parrallel switching, coil tap, hell you could use it for a killswitch. Guitarelectronics.com will show you alot of options. The two wires connected together would be North Finish and South Finish acording to guitarelectronics. They have a wiring diagram for you under the '3 pickup diagrams'. Any more information you could find out using the Search. Hope this helps!

I remember reading a thread where someone had the idea of having a knob to control the rate at which the signal was cut to ground.. So having the knob rolled to '0' would give you full signal, and at '10' it would be cutting on/off/on/off like mad. I've used the search far and wide..but to no avail

Hit an open E and then do a pinch harmonic on the 2nd fret D string. The harmonic is still there but is quieter.. so is the E. Now do it in reverse, hit the pinch harmonic on the 2nd fret and then play the open E. The harmonics is gone completely until you mute the E. I havent tried this with other guitars/pickups so I dont know if this just happens with my stock Deans. I was wondering if there is any pickup that dosent have this problem?

what kind of switch do you want to use? a push button? toggle? slide? the list is endless. (well almost) i have a thread just like this. its on the front page as "button atop knob?" there's a link to a radioshack button that is similar to bucketheads 'push to kill' soft touch button.

+1 Something like this maybe? i know this is REALLY late but if you still want to i'll give you a ibanez rg220B neck. its got a floyd rose nut butyou could take it off easy PLEASE man i want that neck so bad!!! especially after it's been cut!!!

FUGGEDABOUTIT.

My last trade offer had no biters, so now I'm hoping to get some results. I'll give you -2 EMG HZ Passive Pickups (neck and bridge), -A LICENSED Floyd Rose Tremolo, (with claws and arm etc..) -An Ibanez RG 220B Neck with the matching locking nuts. For -A strat body and neck. Preferably unfinished but if it is no biggie. i dont need the pickguard and electronics but if you want to give that to me...well... I suppose i could take that. I don't have a camera yet, but I'll go get a disposable one and take pictures. SPECIFICATIONS: -The EMG's are in mint condition. 4 wire humbuckers. -The Licenced FR has got some nicks, and I gorilla glued the nut that tightens the tremolo arm down, which did not hold. Most of it is gone but there you can see a little bit of it. -the Locking Nut saddle is in mint condition, although the locking nuts themselves have been 'customized'. I stripped out the top so you can't tighten it with an allen wrench. What I did is take a dremel and cut a slot in each of the three nuts so now you can tighten them with a flathead screwdriver. -The neck itself is NOT WARPED and has 2 little nicks in the headstock paint. Just the paint. It's from normal use and you could touch it up with a sharpie really. Its a right handed neck. Normal headstock. If you were going to make this trade it'd probably be for the pickups and neck. Honestly, go sell the tremolo. I'm throwing it in there because it has (some, but little) resale value. I'd suggest getting new nuts for the neck. If you used the Hipshot Trem Setter you'd be in business, but really just go sell it on eBay. I'm in Colorado. The Denver/Aurora side. But I'll do Shipping Also. Rock Hard.

well anyways... I wanted a killswitch but I wanted to keep my control area simple. 1 pickup, 1 volume. No Frills. Is there anyway i could rewire that strat S-1 switching knob thing on that strat?

I can't find anyplace that sells knobs with a momentary pushbutton switch ontop of a knob. This aroused 2 questions: 1) How can I make one? 2) How does one wire a momentary pushbutton switch so that when the button is depressed it kills the signal? (sends to ground) i found 2 buttons on radioshack.com, this one which is a no frills M.P.B.S and this one whis is a 'normally closed button'. Is this what I need? I believe I saw the great Buckethead use one mounted atop his volume knob, albeit it may have been mounted in its own hole. [damn my fuzzy memory] Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

i LOVE the look of the monkey grip. if you made your guitar out of solid aluminum that monkey grip can turn your guitar into a blunt force weapon!!! fuggedabout new pickups and electronics, paint jobs etc... i think its the coolest thing you can do to your guitar.

I want to start a new project and i've had my eyes on dimebuckers. i have no money, (except a little for shipping) so i'm willing to trade 2 EMG HZ passive pickups, neck and bridge, extremly good condition, with the pickup rings, and screws... for 1 Dimebucker (bridge position). to be honest some of the pickup ring screws are not the same size, but once screwed in you wouldnt tell the difference. on the underside of each pickup they say bridge and neck, respectively. pics on request. cheers all!

if there is, you could always cut it off... a dremel would go through that faster than britney spears goes through men

depends on what kind of sound you want. single coils will give you that stratty sound and humbucker give a fuller, fatter sound. humbuckers also cancel hum, , if your nit-picky about hum then go with that. i'd personally say go out and buy this switch and use this diagram so that you can experiment with north/south/humbucking coil sounds. but this is totally my opinion. as for your wiring question, i'd definately recommend guitarelectronics.com wiring schematics. they've got just about every wiring diagram for you.
