  1. Usually I'm not too fond of the pointy guitars.. but this one RAWKS. Keep the pics coming!
  2. No big deal really, mostly I got confused and curious because he earlier said he was about 2weeks ahead. Something tripped my train of thought.. and that led to this. The whole thing came out wrong, I should've kept it to myself - never meant to create controversy. As for the guitar - honestly, it's exceeding my expectations. So keep up the work and the pics coming - wanna see this one finished.
  3. Nope, the EXIF-data shows the time of exposure. It also says what camera was used, shutter speed, aperture value, if flash was fired and a whole bunch of other stuff.
  4. Uh... no. Tuesday was the 9th. What are you talking about? Might be mistaken here, but I'm under the impression that the pics you're posting are taken a week and a half back, but the EXIF-info in the pictures state that they are taken 9th of June between 9 and 10am. Am I making sense?
  5. So.. the 9th of June was a week and a half ago?.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exif ( I might be missing something here.. )
  6. As long as you connect the shield foil to ground it'll shield regardless if there's paint on it or not. (.. to clarify; the paint should not act as an isolator or break the electrical connection between foil and ground. )
  7. I don't want to be an ass, but.... Umm, yes. Actually I did read that.. so, I must be retarded. Wellwell, let's just wait for the pics then..
  8. I assume you're going to stain those?.. to match the body?
  9. Just to throw in something crazy; Maybe you could come up with a combined pickguard/pickupring-thing.. a chromed metal-thingy, cut with a dragonish-kinda-style.. something to go with the f-holes.. .. or mayby something pearloid.. ****, I dunno. I'm positive you'll come up with something wicked.
  10. Yeah.. I agree somewhat to that. I would've liked to see a rounder shape on the headstock.. maybe something along the lines of Tom Anderson, Suhr or Vigier? Just not a boring Strat-clone.
  11. That's some f-in' nice work there. I just LOVE the tint on that spalt-top. I'm curious to what hardware and pups you're gonna use.. .. are you aiming for a GOTM for June?
  12. Well, I'll chip in my vote too: Number 2. But change the headstock to something pointier.. maybe something Caparison-ish, but not as sharp.. ?
  13. That's OK. The Snowflake is nice tho!
  14. Bout the pics; The earlier pics are (IMHO ofc) a bit too contrasty (dark parts too dark) - I'm missin' out on the nice grainage.. Bout the guitars; I'm diggin' the shape. Is it well balanced?
  15. Ehkä me ollaan, ehkä säkin olet! Kiva juttu. Kai me ei oikeen voida hupatella tääl suomee, kai noi muut hermostuu..
  16. Those are some fi-hine builds there! .. a question tho; Are thos pics straight from the camera?..
  17. That fretboard is freakin' badass. Also, diggin' the fretmarkers. .. I'm glad to be one of those convincing you to do this.
  18. [tease]Wait 'till tomorrow.[/tease] I have a sneaking suspicion of something revolutionary..
  19. I'd actually rather get a good planer/jointer-combo than that 16-32. The surface a good planer/jointer gives is not far from finishable.. sure enough, it'll need some refining.
  20. You could use some scrap wood to toy around with first.. scarf some soft wood just to get used to the jig.. Btw, some inspiration: Ruokangas guitar making process, diary
  21. I built one of those U-shaped ramps, very similar to this: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186192 I cut the neck blank using a bandsaw, and a lot of cussing after. I figured that the router-jig would take care of all uneveness, which it did.. but I still needed to sand the glue surfaces somewhat. I think I need to refine the jig.. but thats a future project. .. I assume that, if you got a good jointer you can probably do without that jig. Or maybe make a jig for the jointer to smooth out the scarf..
  22. I agree with the scarf joint because of stability. This is my first attempt at neckbuilding, I got past the scarf joint. If I can pull that off without a jointer, you most definately will too. Think about the satisfaction you're gonna have after the scarf joint.. awesome man, AWESOME! C'MON - DO IT! Edit: Regarding the thin lam in the joint, don't feel like you have to do that now.. I'd lam the headstock instead, body being walnut it'll be sweet. That is, if I'm not mistaken bout the body being walnut.
  23. John, Are you making a traditional Gibson-type headstock (no glue-joint, one-piece neck) or a glued, angled headstock? I'm making a neck myself for the first time, had a lot of problems because I don't have access to a jointer (nor a planer)..
