  1. I like the cocobolo-combo. C'mon DO IT! Nice wood you got there John.. no pun intended..
  2. John, AWESOME. I'm just waiting for the neck building threads..
  3. Actually, I sorta knew that. I've hung around for while without posting.. I always enjoy seeing new projects popping up here and you being a real busy bee makes me green of envy. I dig your projects thoroughly and at the sametime I'd wish you'd get dirty with the neck business too. All that said with humbleness and respect in mind.. (and hopefully precieved that way too.. )
  4. John, you are catching up to Gibson and Fender at the rate you're going.. And my questiong to you is; When are ya gonna give making necks a chance?.. I mean, it obviously cant be impossible to do..
  5. No. Look at this picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...olt_on_neck.jpg The shape of the neck goes closer to the heel, whlie on the Retrotron it looks to be about an inch or so off.
  6. I guess I'll be the first to ask - why didn't you shape the neck where it meets the heel of the body?.. ..also.. it looks kinda funny in a cartoonie-sorta-way..
  7. .. and that's how the Corvus was born.
  8. Can you veneer the headstock with the formica aswell? About the back of the guitar, I'd try and match it with a color which is in the formica, preferably the most dominant one. Black on the back like j.pierce says might work, but that is probably gonna go against the white pickguard. Maybe you could try a persplex pickguard? (or a tinted one and match the back to the tint.. )
  9. Yea, It looks like your friend is gonna be real happy... and if he aint, I bet someone on the forum would be..
  10. +1 Why not post pics of it "before" or even progresspics?
  11. Peter - Alright! No worries then. Lookin' forward for more pics and perhaps soundclips! Edit: Any thoughts on what pickups you're gonna use?
  12. I'm sorry man, to me the letters on the "PB" logo looked very similar to the "Comic Sans" font. To clarify; The Tribalesque-flame-thing ( which is really cool ) and the "PB" are not complementing eachother, that's what made me react in the first place. I realize now that I completely douched-up and should've shut up. Hope that made some sense and.. again, I'm sorry!
  13. That's so awesome, looks like it's from Stewmac almost except that if it were you'd pay a LOT more for it. Would be great if you could post some in-use pics of it.. I'd love that and I'm sure many others are too!
  14. The "PB" on the headstock.. is that Comic Sans? http://bancomicsans.com/ Damn nice guitar tho.
  15. Hey David, Just got one suggestion, I'd say the string holes should follow the edge of the guitars "crotch".. know how I mean? Nice work though, gonna follow this one.
  16. How bout' some chromed Art-Deco-like pickguard that sorta compensates for the chrome binding (or 50's countertop-thingy)?
  17. Thanks. That's part of what I was going for - tastefully horrible. If I were somehow able to put some chrome countertop trim on it, it'd be perfect. Yeah, some sorta chrome binding all-over would be cool. .. are you going for a Danelectro clone or doin' somehing "original" (In terms of pickups and pickguard..)
  18. This is truly an awesome build. Keep the updates comin' ! .. that guitar is like supreme tackyness but in an awesome way..
  19. Are you sure the neck will fit that pocket you already made?
  20. Poplar neck?.. isn't poplar a very soft wood?..
  21. Why not just get a routerbit with the guide bearing on the bottom? ... or a round-over bearing bit? Cool shape btw!
  22. Are the curves polylines or a bunch of straight lines? I made my templates in cad with polylines worked out fine, the NC-program was 16k+ lines.. thank god for CAD..
