  1. I dont mean to sound insensitive but are they really in that big a hurry? You need to explore a few more avenues other than an internet BB if this is that important to you.
  2. OK, that still really tells us nothing, theyre are about 10 different things going on on that page. What exactly is your question here? What do you want to accomplish?
  3. I would like to but I dont really know exactly what you are trying to do. Are you going to build the whole thing or just the body? You could just use standard ferrules like stewmac sells if you wanted to avoid the neck plate. You shouldnt have to attach the humbucker to the neck, just use pickup rings. You would need a neck with the same heel as the one in the picture. You also wont be able to use a standard neck pocket rout either. It all depends on how much work you want to do.
  4. From what I have seen, everything is essentially the same as the set neck excepth that they bolt it on. Nothing really that tough. You would need a special neck I suppose, they dont use a fender style neck if that is what you mean.
  5. Looks like a prototype of the G&L bridge.
  6. I did this on my tele. Much easier than having to shave the whole body down.
  7. I have an Epiphone SG. Want me to measure that?
  8. Be careful calling him out like that. You dont want to get down to his level. Besides, you dont want to give him any fodder to come at you with. See what your complaint gets you and then go from there.
  9. I have been trying to source some hardwoods locally and have found a place in my area recently but I am a little unsure about whether the prices areent a bit high. They have some nice 8/4 mahogany but they want $12.60 a bdft. Does that soung high? Guess I was just curious what you guys pay locally. How about maple? This place lists 5/4 at $8.
  10. Nice D, I have the day off, Im gonna go and list my template this afternoon. What do I do when he cancells it?
  11. Man, I have been at this school for 4 years and I just found out about it about 8 months ago. They call it the "Crafts Center". They have all kinds of "studios" ytou can access, pottery, lapidary, a dark room, all kinds of crap. Good luck using the engineering schools stuff. I am at a college with a huge engineering school and they wont let you go near stuff. I did sneak into the metal shop with my girlfriend a semester ago and got to mess around in there for a while. I am really suprised that the shop I work in even exists. I can imagine the liability being an issue. I wonder if because it's a state school that it's similar to the military base situation.
  12. Thanks guys! PRS never sent me a catalog or any stickers The drill press table was really slapped together. I plan on making a new one soon. It is really usefull though. I cant imagine using the little metal table.
  13. ***!!!!!! That guy has some nerve. Keep us up to date!
  14. I use a woodshop on my college's campus for $40 a semester. All I had to do was sign a waiver and take a test on proper tool usage. I'll take some pics when I get back in there in a few weeks. They have everything, it's awesome!
  15. Check the telemodders forum. There is a link you can access through the main page somewhere. I am sure one of those guys would know. There is a guy on there doing a couple pine bodies right now.
  16. Well, let make take the oppurtunity to reccomend David Myka, if simply on the basis of his helpfulness to me in the past. Perry Ormsby and Jeremy are both exceptionally good luthiers but as Perry alluded to, his location (Australia) might not be the most conducive to your needs. Despite that, he still is full custom so that is somthing to keep in mind. LGM is in Canada and also an excellent option. You will have to email Jeremy and discuss your wants and needs. I know he has a ton of work going on with his Leviathan line as well as the multitude of other things he generally seems to be involved in. At the same time, I know Davis is working on several projects at the moment as well. From what you have described, and from the little I know, Myka seems to be the best fit for you at this point. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.
  17. Whaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttt? I know, I just cant see not wanting to do it yourself. I have always been like that though. I never feel right about spending money on things I think I can do myself, but I understand your point.
  18. Why all the excuses ace? Good luck, I dont know of many companies that deal in oxymoron.
  19. Hell, for $2000 you could buy a pretty good collection of tools and wood and build yourself one, or two.
  20. Cant wait to see a pic of the spray rig.
  21. Perry is spot on here. You most likely arent going to get any offers from anyone qualified to do the job and the people who may respond will be the ones to be wary of. I am not saying that this is the rule, but it has been the case pretty much 99% of the time in the past. Honestly, for the money that a custom body and neck would run you from a reputable luthier would be much better spent on a few good tools to do the job yourself.
  22. I have to be honest, from the way you were hyping this thing I wasnt sure what to expect. I do like it a lot, the burst flows perfectly, but I can't say I am 100% blown away. I do like it though. I cant wait to see it finished. You owe it to us to finish a guitar! If for nothing else than having to read all your rediculous country lyrics!
  23. Im a bit miffed about mattia's method as well. The only way I can imagine it is with a semihollow body.
