  1. vox made a few guitars with built in stuff, like this vox starstream (though its a 12 string) http://www.thecutlerycollection.com/gallery/vstarstream.htm it has a distortion, treble boost, repeat (something like echo/delay), and a hand opperated wahwah
  2. so how did you make the pedal?, thats the part im stuck on right now.
  3. you can angle frets without changing the whole neck, if you angle the bridge and the nut (so the scale stays the same), you would have to angle the frets, but still keep the 25.5" (or w/e you want) scale lenght. and easier to calculate, you would have to angle the fret slots by the same # of degrees as the nut and the bridge
  4. if you delete the rant section, wes would be down to only 5000 posts
  5. it wont matter because the licensincg fee is only required for people in the U.S. so if you live in a different country, unless you are selling it in the U.S. then a licensing fee is not required, but you dont get their technicall support
  6. im thinking, we should change the default options in the search to automatically search for all posts and newer not the 30 days and newer that it is right now. also i think all the tutorial sections should have the default as display all threads and newer, not (again) the 30 days and newer
  7. ended at 93 i dont think i would have bid that high, but its mainly because i dont have the money and dont particularly need them
  8. is it a shielded pickguard? check for loose ground wires that might (doubtfully), touch the shielding and add a little clicking sound. otherwise its nothing to do with the pickguard, since plastic does not conduct electricity, it must be something else, have you checked under the hood
  9. do you still have to pay licensing if its for non copmercial use (i.e. a one ofo guitar for yourself)
  10. i beleive they use those one string bridges.
  11. elmers glue all (yes the white stuff) is PVA (Polyvinyl acetates) which is one of the most popular wood glues and it creates a strong bond. though it might be more diluted then full strength pva, but its still the stuff. my grandpa restored a 17th century knights chair using pva, and the chair is sittable and beign used im not saying that glue all should be used for guitars its just wrong to say its only for elementary school, when it really is quite strong
  12. I see the point in making this forum more proffesional, but wont the limts on expression and fun, make anyone that goes to this forum think that we are a bunch of stuck up doddery old fools, and go away. I think all these limits (i understand the no swearing for the regular forums, but we doo need a place to vent steam), will discourage people from joining our community
  13. also because you can cut it in the length of the diameter (cut around), so thinner woods, can make a piece of veener wide enoguh for a guitar top
  14. THIS is an example of a good post. Read it. Learn it. Live it. (Good work, Silvertone). not to be a rebel, its just that thats what almost everybody has said to cam (or at least close to that) on this thread, i have nothing against camcool, having answered most of his first threads. its just that i usually dont like watching people go get screwed out of a few hundred bucks, no matter how much i know them. a word to camcool, is that there are many inteligent members on this forum, and following their advice is usually a good idea. Oh and sorry for ganging up on you.
  15. here ok what you do, is one lead form the pickup, connect, to the left most prong on one of the two rows of prongs (on the switch), and then the other lead (from the other pup), conenct to the rightmost prong, of the other row of prongs (this is on a dpdt pull/push switch), then solder the two middle prongs together, and from one of them solder to the left most prong of the pot (when looking from the bottom), IF its a volume (or intended to be) pot. and then solder the right most prong to ground, and the middle prong to output. (all on the pot) if its intended to be a tone pot, solder the output from the switch to the right most prong (from the bottom), the gorund through a cap to the middle prong, and then the output to the volume to the left most, and then with the volume pot is the same stuff. also to let you knwo the switch and the pot are not connected electrically so it is wired the same as if you where useing a regualr dpdt swithc nad a seperate pot i assume, you have the rest worked out, but if you dont want a split just solder the south finish and north finish together (on both pups), and solder the south start to ground.
  16. yes give me a second/minute with the schematic edit: actually its the exact same chem i made for shreddy.give me a sec to bring up thw link
  17. wel usually people mix black saw dust (like from ebony) with epoxy, like they mix the dust into the goo, now the question is wehter this would work with hide glue
  18. lovekraft what should i set the peak amplitude to, for a signal from a guitar, im testing a wah circuit.
  19. you need a serious lesson in money managment, if you make 80 a week mowing lawns it could tkae 5 weeks to get the money, then you blow it on some very pretty wood, But then being the naive person you are, and not follow advice, go and cut it up, and totally screw up, and then come running back here, crying that you screwed up a $400 piece of wood. my suggestion (and everybody elses here), is to get your self some cheaper wood, a nice piece of alder, and get on to making a guitar, save the $400 figured wood, for your later projects.
  20. seconded, i dont think its of much use or benefit, there is a reason only cheap kiddy guitars have them, what could be a better idea is to use a small amp inside the guitar, to drive a speaker/earphone out, so that you can practice without pluging in your big amp, or while on a trip or something. maybe this might work,
  21. "its a long way too the top" plays in the background.
  22. i hardly think one bad album means a bad band, just because one was bad doesnt mean the band sucks
  23. if you want to make a practice, you can prqactice on some thick plywood to be had at home depot, if you want to make a full size mockup then you can get poplar at homedepot for very cheap, though you would have to glue them together to get the correct thickness, but enough wood for the guitar can be had for about $4-5 there.
  24. your ear is much more acurate then a tuner, at least once you trained it up a bit, to tune by ear in the begining, its very good to use a pitch fork tuned to a-440, and tune your 1st string to sound like it on the 5th fret, then make the 2nd string on the 5th to sound like the first string, , check the 5th fret on the first with a tuning fork again (especially if its a non locking tremelo), and then tune the 3d string on the 4th fret to sound like the 2nd string, then recheck, 4th on the 5th to the third string, check again, 5th on the 5th to the 4th string, check again, and finally 6th on the 5th to the 5th string. ad then check them all again, it seems like a long time, but after a while you wont even need to do the frets, youll know the interval sounds.
