  1. ^^LMFAO!!!! Very sweet, very metal... And I'm a person that likes my metal... haha hopefully this one won't take as long as the last
  2. haha thanks PSW I'll remember that for next time!
  3. http://www.jacaranda.com/links/tamoash-big.jpg Tamo ash, not the coolest ive seen... But its pretty damn sweet none the less! (sorry dont know how to post link as a direct picture!!)
  4. 9 strings.... that sure is beastly. The fretboard on my 6er is actually book matched as well... Sheerly for the fact that I couldn't find a piece large enough for a 6 string FB at the time. BTW whats the 9 tuned to?
  5. Or you can do what warwick does to their swamp ash bodies. Lightly sand blast the body, which gets rid of some of the soft grain giving you really deep pores... Its really awesome I myself want to try doing it one of these days.
  6. Not true for all paints, my dads shop which is using water based technology one of the VERY few shops in north america (other than the big name car manufacturers) Theirs takes 90 days to completely cure if I'm not mistaken. Both of my builds that were painted were painted with automotive paints, and the finish is immaculate, no problems what so ever. You will need far less coats of clear coat as well as opposed to lacquer, etc. You will have orange peel, but if you wet sand with 1500 after the first clear, then lay down your second coat, it will be far less if not completely gone. If it is still there wait 2 weeks and wet sand again if you want it completely gone.
  7. Hey alan amazing basses!! I have a question though how big of a roundover did you do on that recurve single cut 5 that you posted above? Bass-man
  8. Agreed, that is just black paint. Btw am I mistaken or is that an Ibanez iceman bass?
  9. I willl have to check them out. Thats awesome though guys, thanks for the help, their name never turned up after hours of searching! Bass-man
  10. Hey everyone, well the topic is pretty self-explanatory. Im looking for a good wood dealer in Vancouver BC. I have currently been using Windsor Plywood as where I get my wood, They sell various hardwoods and they have some nice things on occasion. I am just curious as to what other places there are in Vancouver to get nice wood. Particularly what I am after is some burl, and I am not shopping online, I like to see and feel things first hand. So my fellow Canucks, help me out please Bass-man43
  11. Looks good man! I to know the pain of not being able to work on a guitar while being on vacation!!! I can only work on mine at school as I don't have the appropriate tools at home. THe bass is completely done with a finish and everything except for my pickup route!!! It drives me nuts!!!! Bass-man
  12. Honestly Supernova, I think that you have crossed a line as to being relevant to the topic then turning into being a real jerk. Making cracks about his ex-wife and talking about his ``therapist``just to help prove your so called point was completely un-justified. The guy is just trying to help fund his hobby buy selling his bodies, and if people buy it, all the power to them. Its buyer beware on ebay, and if you don`t like it there is nothing you can do about it and attacking him just makes you look less intelligent in the long run. Bass-man
  13. Agreed with prostheta, When I carved my bass (nearly complete ) It had a Wenge back and top, tearout was very easy and the end grain was VERY hard to shape. I'd rough the shape with a big ole bastard file and get it close then use something finer from there. BTW this may be a dumb question but why is your wenge such an odd colour mine and all other wenge I have laid eyes on was like black?
  14. By any chance did you look at the date when this thread was made? Over Four years ago... Not trying to be mean just watch the dates next time
  15. OKay everybody! I've done a ridiculous amount of work on this thing and its almost done!! I have been fighting with seymour duncan over the last several weeks about them not making my parts as there is a lack of demand for them but my PU will be here friday or monday, but the preamp wont be here till the end of july early august. The bass is fretted, control cavity/cover recess made, Maple cavity cover is made, tuning keys are in, The nut will be ifnished made tomorrow and glued on and strung up to see how she plays. Ill get some pictures tomorrow, it looks great can't wait for it to be done Bass-man
  16. I;ve got an EMG select in my 6 string bass right now. Its a pretty nice pickup, nice even response. Its pretty much you get what you pay for Not the greatest pickup but its pretty nice and gets the job done.
  17. That looks so sweet! I've been seeing alot of V builds around here and Ultimate guitar lately. Very well done can't to see it all finished
  18. Lookin good! Still not partial to the carve, but this build is definitely a step up from ones in the past.
  19. ON the front of the body did you mean to spray heavier in the middle of the body and then fade it out towards the edges?
  20. Im going to have to agree with the post above, this is exactly how i did my bevels except i didnt do a 45 degree angle cause that is quite extreme.
  21. Got lots of carving done this last couple of weeks I love the way its starting to look, should turn out to be a good one. Bare in mind that this is all still rough carve I have still only used a rasp and a cabinet scraper. http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/PICT2697.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/PICT2698.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/PICT2699.jpg http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff103/m...ix/PICT2700.jpg Feedback is appreciated Bass-man43
  22. Thanks for the comments, sorry i didnt post any info on it because I was at my friends house testing it on his half stack when we posted that This thing is a beast, sounds amazing plays very well, there is a couple problem frets up in the higher registers but those will be fixed all in due time. I would like to get up a sound clip but all I have is my phone... so might have problems there, also, professional photos will be taken soon and i will post accordingly. Bass-man43
