  1. If it came outta an electric RC car, why not use the speed controller from the car? And if it's still geared to the ratio it had on the axle then that's sure to have enough torque.
  2. That link was the first reply to the original post! Elsewhere on the site though I discovered an example of a sunburst finish being applied to an HT kit. http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/lacquer.html Scroll to bottom of page, the flame comes out nicely.
  3. Less voltage to the motor will make it slower. You just need a pot over it really. Mind you often with electric motors they are designed to give suitable torque for the application in question at a particular RPM. The mechanical alternative of course is gearing :-)
  4. I discovered some great sounding pickups, at very reasonable prices. Wizard Pickups (http://www.wizardpickupsltd.com) Worth giving them a try, check some of the reviews on Harmony Central.
  5. The electronics are not as crap as the Tele and Strat kits that Saga also do. The HC though has some errors in the instructions IIRC. There were some notes here http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/Saga_ht-10_build.html were someone has built one up.
  6. I've burnt myself on electric irons, but there something about gas soldering irons that reminds me not to hold it too low down, probably the roaring and glowing
  7. Agree with nyjbkim, I've always believed "sus" to be "suspended" never heard anyone use "sustained" till now.
  8. Wes man speak da truth Absana, a good way to develop your "own style" is to perhaps concentrate less attempting to "sound" like someone else and spend time learning techniques rather than tracks. Also getting a couple of lessons from a professional tutor can always help point you in a different or better aimed direction. I
  9. I think I'd have to say Yamaha, as they make a wide variety of stuff with very very high standards at the top of the ranges. I
  10. If anything I am seeing more and more people wanting to learn to play recently. Teaching contemporary instruments is something a good drummer friend of mine is very passionate about, so much so that he started a UK wide network of guitar, bass, keyboard and drum tutors (http://www.gigajam.com if your interested). He seems to be doing well for himself with his lesson content being sold into primary and secondary schools as well as a growing network of personal tutors. I think basically guitar based music will always excite children, it's very hands on and has much less of a stigma attached to it that traditional classical instruments and music. You only need see some of these kids partaking in the Gigajam demonstations I've seen to know that the guitar etc ain't becoming a thing of the past, by no means! I
  11. Oh and if you've got a good looking single sister...
  12. I'd like to see a redesign, the contrast between the hard to read light text on black background website and the easy on the eye forum means that I tend to visit the website less often than is good for me. <grins>
  13. The pics on your personal webspace protected by htaccess by the looks of it. You either need to make it public or give us your username and password
  14. There are so many variables I guess, other than just string mass and scale length. Too many variables I'd say to come up with one overall "clean and tidy" answer to the question. <grins>
  15. Rotosounds on both electric and acoustic.
  16. I read that and thought, "Blimey 7 years is a long time to be in the industry!", then I stopped and thought damn, that's exactly how long I've been doing it as well, bloody hell time flys! Now I'm sure my web programming would be up to hyunsu's standards, but I wish my guitar making skills came close. But they don't I'm **** and H rocks! (**)
  17. 1st one looks like the neck is about to fall off, my gut instinct says the 2nd cutaway is the better looking on the neckside, but the horn on the 3rd one is better than the others. IMHO.
  18. Exactly the same bridge type, fingerboard radius and frets as well?
  19. Problems as in many stains won't actually sink in?
  20. Lee, sanding a SAGA HT-10 too much will get you into trouble, the maple top is reportedly just a thin veneer, as you would expect at the price, and too much sanding will strip through to the basswood quite quickly. Blimey I delurked, Hi to everyone. Iain
