  1. He, he...i think they look COOL.. Show us the whole guitar.. cheers
  2. Thanks ... That´s a VERY GOOD IDEA.. i never though about it.. But since i´m not a "From the Wood" builder i couldn´t do that anyway..maybe in a future is a learn enough in this forum to try..but if you can get or, better yet, build a Seven string Neck, that will be fantastic..because when i use the "Stratoacustic" you get the problem of touching the other string when playing classical compositions..i figure that will not happen with a neck like that..no as Bigger as Clasical guitar neck but bigger than standar .. if you gonna try that, please show us the work.. cheers
  3. Very good looking Axe...and the Edge bridge...nice touch!!! one question: What is that?..some kind of fret press??? cheers
  4. Hi..Yesterday..i went to my Boss house to do the monkey grip of my RG550 (next project after the RGX110)..i don´t have the SPACE and the tools hi has Fisrt, let me tell you that this is my second monkey grip..i already did one to my "stratoacustic"...you can see here.. http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php...4bb6f7bc3566c6b the first time i did no take any pictures of the process and now i did... After reading several time the Brian´s tutorial about it, i suposse i could do that..so i bought the both Flat Blade drills bits, 1" and 3/4 ".. I used the mesures of Brian in a blanck wood but for some reason it doesn´t come quite well.. it was a little smaller than the original..i know this because i have a BSB.. So i decided to make a template from my guitar...i just recreate the process of the template just a minutes ago This is how i did it: put my BSB over a single peace of paper and draw the shape with a pencil #2 Wi a compas i found the circle of radius 1" and 3/4" taht we need to start the process. you can see in the picture above the template over the guitar and the Mark point for the holes to be drilled. Sorry i did no take anypictures during the holes process, but me and my boss wwere holding the guitar for this porpose..One thing you should know i did the four holes in fron about the half way and then turn the guitar back to complete the hole because i was afraid that when the drill bit went out MIGHT can DENT the wood badlly..this way this no hapeened..and other thing you have to stop the Drill process when you reach the half way..is you leave it ON, it tends to DENT the wood too The next step is cutting the rest of the wood using the Jigsaw, i use the front side of the guitar for better support next, ´cause i did not have any wood of 2" thick i made my suporting side other way.. . Now is time to flat the back of the grip.. i went 3/4" in the depth of the bit instead of the 5/8 " that Brian use..and that was by view cos i didn´t have the BSB with me to compare... but after came home i saw it was a GOOD CAll.. After a little sanding ..i finished perfect resuem this project..this is what i got then i came home and put the guitar toghether again.. http://mipagina.cantv.net/jimenezr/Rg550/1...ll%20guitar.jpg What you guys think? BTW.. i wanted to do a liltle study... I weight the Body before the grip... http://mipagina.cantv.net/jimenezr/Rg550/06-peso.jpg i weighted 1.412,7 gr..and after the Grip: it weights 1.375,1 gr So the diference is 37,6 gr .. the diference is 2,66% in Mass .. this was made purelly by the fun of it.. and to put some numbers in the head of the peole who thinks that this grip affect sound..maybe it does..but i´m quite sure you can hear it..i can´t well, this have been a very long post..it takes me more than ahalf hour to write it.. let me know what you people think about all this.. cheers
  5. i never though about Gold..all the hardware is Chrome...even the knobs ..and the hardest part is that i´m in Venezuela..not all you want you can get it.. Gold paint can be very dificult to obtein..in laquer i mean..i going to check it out for some Spray Can...but all beeing imported.. after the year + we have with "monetary change control"..is hard to get..most of the item start to lack off pretty bad in this country ...the yellow laquer can be obtein ..no problem there.. THANKS for your suggestion. cheers
  6. thanks ..i hope it looks really cool when is done.. cheers
  7. I think it´s looks Awesome Man.. Good work..nice shape.. cheers
  8. I already did that, didn´t you see the failed one? I though that the guitar was too DARK..now i´m going for something more ALIVE.. I don´t know but i think that could not work.. it wouldn´t feel too "silky" couse of the glue..it would feel very strange I quite sure about it.. The best feel of the neck is without the clear coat..like the one on my BSB, it feel GREAT..Just sand the neck and i´m sure you will like it better..i think you should start with a grit 400 and going up till 1200 or 1500 or when you feel it good That is what i´m gonna do to my RG550 Anybody can add some coment on this?
  9. well i´m on the way to find out ..i´m still in the sealent process..it have to be a very THICK sealer coat and sanded to be smooth.. the edge had givin me some troubles because this is very rounded body, no like the ibanez RG or Jem..but i´m working on it..i´m almost where you can see no diference from the wood to the fabric..but it have to be perfect, right? WoooooooooooooW ....thanks MAN You are the person that makes me want to do these Mods (next will be my RG550)..you made them look so easy in your Site. I´m so happy that you like the Fabric ..is awesome.. i´m gonna do the a Yellow Burst..what do you think? cheers
  10. thanks ..i already saw that thread i was so amazing.. but i dont care much for the sloting thing i want to see more of the fretting it self using a hammer or something cheap..not a fancy press .. i want to reftret my Rg550 ...not now but in a near future.. cheers
  11. hi, pictures..pleaseee?? i want to learn about the fretting process.. cheers
  12. Hi.. i´m new to this site..i´m been reading a lot of the threads and i´m shocked of all the guitars that i´d seen so far..all look so nice and professional.. and everybody´s seen very willing to help eachother.. I want to show the guitar i´m working now..is a yamaha RG110 ( i know ..a cheap guitar ) ..but not now.. When i purchased this guitar, 2 year ago..it was all original.. white with a sync tremolo and one humbucker.. the minute i took it I put an OFR and EMG85..and add a tone..and changed the output jack to the side ..but while a was doing that i craked the top of the guitar badly so i repared that and had to painted so i decide to change the color to Grey..i was looking for a picture but could not find it..but i´m sure i have in some where.. about 5 month ago i purchased a EMG SA..and i decided to put the Emg´s in my Peavy Vanderberg ..and i love it.. the single coil of the peavey is so weak..and now, with the Emg´s it sounds fantastic.. So returning to the Yamaha.. I put the Vanderberf humbucker there and add another humbucker..a Dimarzio Paf ...but know that i found this site of project guitar i wanna to change the look of the guitar totally.. So i see the tutorial of material finish by Brian´s and this is what i´m doing so far... actually is my second try..i did not like what i was gettin the first time..have some trouble witn the sanding and with the Burst.. as you can see i sanded all the grey but still are some white..and after glued the fabric i realize that i would be better leaving all the white becuase where the yellow is you can see some diferences where are white underneth..is more "bright".. but well ..that´s the way you learn things.. So what you guys think so far..? in case you wanna see the failed one this: http://mipagina.cantv.net/jimenezr/5-prueb...20like%20it.jpg well any help would be apreciated, cheers
  13. hi, beautiful guitar BTW... I think that you should keep it.. Sorry..out of topic..how did you put those pup's there..?? cheers
