  1. By PGM, you mean an Ibanez PGM right? If so, you need better wood than pine, especially for the trem replacement. I have seen a few pine guitars here, and for a patch up on a guitar that I don't care much I wouldn't mind using it. But not for my main guitar. First of all, what kind of wood is your RG? If you can't find it locally, I'm sure that there should be someone next to you that makes furniture, cabinets, etc... even some member of the board that might sell you a piece the size you need cheap.
  2. Sorry to hear about your dislike, but I think that you should had gone 1 way. A carve and bevels would be a hard mix to get it to look right. Even that Gibson one look ugly to me.
  3. Those are pretty sweet. I thought they will look tacky when I read the title, but I like them a lot!
  4. It is very close to what Myka does. But the one on the picture above is sprayed. You can clearly tell by the look of the grain under the "magenta-blue" burst. I don't think I would try to attain the same finish using red. Unless you are one awesome candie color painter. A magenta light coat followed by a large fan blue with a small darker blue on the edges should give you the same finish. Also remember to seal the top first. On that one it would be a good idea to sand the top to 800, it will bring the grain out more, if you were staining it 320 would be more than enough.
  5. I wish I could say that they were my own design, but no. After some research (posting pics on another board and asking what it is) I found out it is a Teisco bass. Teisco was a Japanese company in the 60's. Teisco's were OK for the price, but that body it so ugly that I would had never guessed it was a Teisco. Neck looks like you salvaged pretty good, I thought that it would had been scrapped from the first look at it. Just make a new body with some nice flowing lines and you are all set.
  6. Time for a new host? Exceeded your bandwith already! That looks outstanding, how high on grit did you sand before clearing. I'm thorn in ideas of how would that look with color, that grain is great!
  7. I don't see a problem with it. Just did it to check there was no propaganda around it.
  8. <film quote>What's a Nubian?</film quote> Nubia is an old kingdom of Africa, along the Nile it's a region that is partly in Egypt and partly in Sudan legendary for it's beautiful dark skinned woman. See the "film quotes"? I think he means this. http://www.redux.com/shmeso/Dj6mPfV20U3dzZX <edit: adult humour in the link - NSFW! sorry>
  9. Did some one brought that up here? I have never seen a Model One in my live so I did a search and I see no resemblance at all with your guitar.
  10. Looks very nice, I think the same about the volute, for me I try to keep it under the nut. I think that is the place that might need reinforcement if any. And I think that you should had taken a little more attention to the binding on the neck joint area. Lots of minor imperfections that take away from an otherwise outstanding guitar. I never seen those rings for the EMG 7 series. I have seen custom one made, but never one that looks like the pups.
  11. I'm pretty sure he meant the way he does it. Not everyone paints the same way. Just like staining. I always credit David Myka, he was the one that I talked to to get the hang of it, now I added my little spin to it.
  12. That's classified as TOP SECRET... Simo, your builds are getting better and better! That Korina looks clean, nice and even colored! Are you staining the top or will it be natural?
  13. No need to sand it completely off, unless the maple has figure and you want to make it stand out. But you can do it that way if you want.
  14. What kind of finish is on the neck right now? If it is nitro all you need to do is sand it down a little and spray a toner coat and top with a few clear coats. I don't see a need to take the frets out, since most Fenders I have seen are finished with the frets on and then the finish is taken out of the crown of the frets or they have been taped up and finished the same way.
  15. Both Perry and David have posted the same comment. That's how I do mine, but I still sand to get the highs to be clearer (lighter) than the figure. Nice looking, lets get it finished!!!
  16. PRS and Ormsby's own. KL a close third
  17. Its actually purple Seriously???? I thought it was blue!
  18. Why not use 2 single coils and place them so that they cover the string path? Or just make a custom base for the humbucker you already have?
  19. Very nice Perry, it looks a little purplish but having a dark blue quilt my self I know that it's the picture.
  20. I almost fell asleep on that 1st link...
  21. I fixed the second line on the picture paragraph to read 5, 6, 7, 8... from the old 2, 3, 4, 5...
  22. Damn... Slipknot, I'm not too fond about them, thought it sucks that you already had everything set up with the tech and a security guard pull you out. Machinehead I have listen too a bit and got some songs on the Ipod now. Trivium thhat is someone I would love to get to meet too!
