  1. Sorry the 81 ain't showing, got messed up in resizing.
  2. Yes they do, as you can see., that's the set up in my Epi LP Classic Plus.
  3. Where did you mounted the 85, from the looks of the pics seems it's on the bridge, if you have the ZW set it goes on the neck. It really doesn't matter but I was wondering? The EMG's can be placed anywere since they are active and won't be out of phase.
  4. I second that, no useful info here???????????? or pics/???
  5. I'm so jellous at you guys with those nice toys... I am going to check that site to se if I can build one. P roblem I got is that I'm in the ARMY and we move so much that I can't get a house and start making my own tool shop. All I got now is power tools and some other stuff.
  6. Heel, thats exactly what I was talking about. If it was mine Iwould have requested like that. If thats how the PRS comes, I don't know why people pay so much for them, I haven't had the pleasure to play one, but I think they are over rated, they are between the LP and a Fender, sweet tone from the LP and I guess comfort of the fender. I will go next weekend to Guitar center to check a few guitars, need to get the feel of them before ordering one. I will be trying the Santane SE (PRS) but I'm incline to get the ESP LTD F250 or Viper 400.
  7. Back in the 80's one of my heros came with this guitar. I thought it was kinda over the edge, but colored frets, other than silver or gold is too much, I realy don't think it will be good, it will wear and probably change the tone of the color, it will be glossy and shinny on the edges and dull where the strings meet the fret. But it's your call .
  8. Make sure that you are measuring right. My scallop don't go lower than 3/32", and Iwill say that with the low frets that I have is more than enough. On your it will be more than enough. Even 1/16 should be good. If you plan on going below the side markers, be ready for a lot of work. you will most probably be replacing the fret dots too. On the frets that have dot markers try to go down on them with a file. I notice that it doesn't build up a lot of heat and doesn't damage the inlays, as you can se mine is a LP with trapezoid and the did just fine. on the other just have fun with the dremel contour sander (if you have one!) need more info let us know. I can't enphacize this better, listen to what everybody says, especialy Brian, he help me with my first scallop, he have some nice pictures and the experience that I don't have. do a lot of research
  9. Great job, I couldn't wait to se it finished. I gto a question on the neck, is it possible to taper the bottom of it so the you don't see the sharp lines. also get better fret access. Or will this weaken the neck joint? I love it just that the lines on the bottom of the neck don't flow as good as the nicely carved body. ( I'm running to Sears to get one of those bits. Even if I onle use it once.)
  10. Sorry for the size, I tried resizing and it made it too small.
  11. I don't know if this is the tutorial that you read. It explains all the questions that you asked. But I just did my neck and here there are some anwers that I can give you. 1. It makes a difference, you just have to paint the fret board or the whole neck once you are done. 2. If you takeie easy you won't. 3. Scallop between the side markers and your fret board, you have a Fender who has tall frets, you don't need to go lower than 3/32". 4. Is up to your taste and type of playing. I did from 12 up, but as soon as I get a dremel contour sander will finish the whole neck. 5. No, as long as you don't press the hell out of the strings. 6. I will say from what I have read that a great percentage of the guys here havo done it. I don't regret it. One note, go easy on the inlays, Brian pointed out the there is a great chance of going thru them on Maple necks. I guess that's because of the material on them. Go easy, check your work every minute and becarefull with the frets. Enjoy your neck once done. Here is a shot of my neck, which is my first one to be done
  12. Great Bass you got there. I like the shape of the headstock, looks like the one Hetfield is using now, just without the arrow shape over it. Nice job....
  13. In here you will find a good metalic paint, just coated with one of the candy colors to your choice and make the same effect that you are looking for.
  14. go here this is for removing the trem post bushings. it will work for the LP, this is what I'm doing on my Epi LP.
  15. Hey, go to www.alsacorp.com, they have a great variety on chrome paints, from the metal ones to the ghost chrome. Just paint it as a base and then get the candy of your choice and paint over the base. This will be probably what you are looking for. Sorry for writting the address, I don't know how to do the link yet.
  16. That's a nice carved "V". I think it will look better with the output jack on the inside or the back out of sight. The ESP KH-1, I haven't seen one in ages. I remember that they had one for sale back home and my friend was going to buy it, when out of the sudden they pull it out of the window. Never know why until I read that Gibson had a law suite against ESP for copying the shape. Nice to see that they are still around.
  17. That top looks awsome, I don't know if called a flame or a quilt. The flames are so thick. Great buy...
  18. he is not trying to be BC he worked there before you were born and designed guitars for them, thats why you see the similar designs. Go to the website that Wes posted and educate yourself.
  19. Great guitar, Love the neck and the headstock is my favorite, old style Kramer banana, Nice job!!
  20. I got a Squier that I got almost for free, and have been toying with it for the last 2 years. It now have a EMG KH-21 pick guard and it's in for mayor work as soon as I get it back. The body is ply wood, I found out when I routed for the KH-21 but it sound good. I'm going to get a piece of maple or alder at least 1/4" thick and 'm going to plane that amount from the top of the body, to place it there like a cap. I am going to take the tremolo out and put a string thru hard tail and if I got some money left I will do the same thing for the back and put some mahogany there. This will be enough practice with the planner-router before I order a body blank and decide to do my first guitar from scrap. The neck on the Squier has never bowed, warped or anything else. I got a real low action, and it barely buzzes (the action is reeeeaaaalllyyyy low) so I'm happy with it. A frieng played in Germany while stationed there and he have a Fender American and he was surprised at the sound of it. I guess that there are some bad guitars out there that get all the bad rep to one brand. George Lynch whent to say that Kreamer where pieces of sh*t but some player say they were awsome guitars. (I'm not talking about the cheap ones coming out now) My first axe was a kramer Focus 1000 that I bought in 1986, and it was the best feeling guitar that I ever had, I cant imagine having an EMG-81 on it back then. O well just play the thing, if you like it, play it. I never buy somenthing thinking in resale them, once I work on somenthing I take pride on my job and find id difficult to get rid off. Have a nice day and keep on shreeding, cutting, routing, finishing... you get the Idea, good work
  21. Have any of you ordered from ALSA Corp. Are their products good. I plan on getting the colors for my guitar from them, but it's the first time that I hear this brand. I've been in their web site and the product showcase is amaizing. But I will like to from you guys, because I know that most of you have years of experience painting guitars. I have painted bikes and cars but I have used laquer most of the time. This will be the first time using urethanes. I already read almost all the tutorials, I just want some feed back on this product. I can get HOK here but the price is much higher than ALSA. At least here in Maryland. Thanks.
  22. I don't know if they offer the speed loader in 7string. I just e-mailed them so I will post it if it's available. Check their web site, they are offering the speed loader for fixed bridge too. Looks awsome.
  23. Cool, ain't it amaizing when some manufacturer changes somenthing in their product, and everybody wants it. I had a FR back in the 80's, and it was the last innovation on the guitar market. Now the speed loader comes and revolutionaizes the industry again. It looks much better than the Stainberg one. Also it is a breeze to change the strings.
  24. Wes, I took a look at your link before deciding to become a member. Have you done anything else to it. Also, you mentioned that your first one was a carvin neck, how was it. I plan on doing an Explorer type with a neck thru and Iwas considering Carvins, because they are the higher quality cheapest one out there. for the price of a neck from Warmoth I can get a neck thru and a replacement body for my Squier strat.
  25. If it's a odd color, like the metallics, take it to an automotive paint store. They have a computer that analizes the color of the paint and can match almost any color. I haved matched a one off purple metallic that I had on a Volkswagen, and it was a perfect match. The only draw back is that can't get touch up sized cans.
