  1. Cool! Did you use it as a 'Preferred Audio Device' in Windows or did you chain it into another audio interface? Glad to hear you had it working with CoolEdit (I still use the 2-track CoolEdit '96 for quick track chopping) because it suggests I should be able to get it to work with just about any package and it certainly wouldn't hurt to be able to throw some ideas down in Cubase on the fly but like I said, it's more for a wanking/training system setup that I will likely use the most with headphones. How's the 'Insain' settings compared to the POD? Speaking of eBay, what licensing issues would I run into if I got one used. Many things once licensed by someone are nearly useless after. I have no desire to use their companion online service but if I purchased one used, would I be in a place of possibly not being able to get it to work at all? IE, I mentioned Cubase, once registered, it's useless, especially without the Dongle the package requires. Thanks for the input guys, it would be really nice if I could demo the things somewhere but so far, no one has one setup.
  2. I have looked over the coming TonePort and it looks good but for my purposes is overkill. I'm not planning to use it for tracking (got a studio for that), just a means to use a laptop as a single source for playback and play along in our parlor.
  3. I'm considering getting one of these little guys to facilitate a little parlor wank station. I can't seem to find a heck of alot of sample sound examples and wondering how the little bugger sounds and works. I know some performance elements are entirely dependent on the system it is being used on but anyone actually have one that works well, if so how do you do what you do with it? What do you do with it? Even if the Line6 'Insane' gain tone is remotely like that of the Spider II amps, I'd likely pick it up for that alone..but I figure I'd farm for some input from the PGMC.
  4. My vote would go for the flush mount primarily because I would think the less hardware distraction the better. Guessing with neck through and ash finished in a manner you have done before, there is going to be good reason to not cover up any of the ash with screwed in metal pieces if at all possible. my thoughts.
  5. Hey Wes, yeah that's what I'm thinking...I'm going to take off the back panel right now and see what I can see... ← Realistically, it sounds likely to be the exact opposite, since speakers aren't grounded it could be a ground loop, metal somewhere to metal frame of the speaker?
  6. It amazes me still how much we've all seen or can see so commonly no matter where we are. This guy is a great example, it's extremely common for musician males and especially male youth. Music does not care about gender, testosterone or ego. Media and the need for money by musicians to survive is the cause of music being other than a nature element of culture and not a pay for means of entertainment that it has become. It really depends on the intent of the musician, is it a means of gaining recognition and power or is it to find a place they’ve been before in a moment with other people they hardly knew where something happened they couldn’t explain or even possibly reproduce. How many have said, “Man, did you get that on tape”?
  7. It's simply a matter of who’s your audience. In some of the references you’ve made they are referred to commonly as a musicians musician. The people that appreciate their work the most are musicians who can understand the complexity of their application. I greatly appreciate this sort of material because it goes way beyond the musical interpretive requirements that a (needs to broaden his horizons) Malmsteen only type fan has. They're still fascinated by a harmonic minor scale suggesting there is plenty of room for growth (so to speak). My little brother plays this crazed jazz and is well known by his peers, also companionates himself with those that were once upon a time his heroes. He always had an appreciation for that level of complexity that took me considerably longer to truly appreciate. Now I see why, it was beyond me at the time. Keep in mind and instructor commonly has no motivation to impress you.
  8. YEEEEEHAWWWW!!!!! (where's a bullwhip emoticon when you need one) I watched the blues bothers movies just the other night and still listen to the sound track now and again, all my girls sing along with Rawhide when it comes on. This thing and the 30 day quilt are making me think about WOD'ing my unfinished parts tele because it's starting to look lower on the food chain than a Fender Affinity in comparison, but I won't because that would be like telling a student learning arpeggio's to quit quitar because they're not perfect on the first try and taking too long to get grasp of. So you go!...and don't forget the cheap sunglasses! Can't wait! (whack) Ya! (whack)
  9. I'm having a hard time envisioning drops, blood looks creepy as splatters, smears, pools and most often on top of a very light colored background (most often white in movies) but drops..
  10. So was this finish a concept that Matt had vision of or did Jeremy just 'do his thing' and POOF...total badassness? The paint gives the body so much more dimension and the blood red is the bloodiest red I ever saw. Jeremy, you are a good man! This isn't the first selfless act from you we've experienced. If there's an afterlife, dude your 401k plan is full and spilling over!
  11. Very cool of you to do for Matt! Matt you must be sooooo stoked right now, I'd be speechless as well.
  12. That is a very nice box! Very marblish! So now the question is what's in the box dude?
  13. Same here, all you can do (besides getting completely wasted before a show so you don't feel anything) is to know your material inside-out upside-backwards. You'll still be nervious, just go with it and let memory take over and most often the stress will reduce. Many people that have played for many years still get pre-show gitters. Just shows you're human.
  14. Awe shucks Drakie, I didn't realize you cared?
  15. Please, a 100% serious Drak? I don't want to even imagine it! I knew you're funnin but I really believe I voiced too much openly and wrongfully so anyone that feels they need to toss some produce, I'm the one with the bullseye stuck to the forehead. That simple, nothing more. Just keep on rockin the router and keeping Crazy (CA) Glue in business!
  16. Of course! I guess it's due that I make a public apology to all of those that may suffer from the lack of exposure to works destined for WODification by our extensively talented and completely capable self critic Drak. So, if you guys need someone to beat up, pitch fork or just call nasty names…PM me and get if off your chest because I will take full responsibility for putting Drak in the position of defending his honor and intellect. Once again, I apologize!
  17. And so it is, digging this back up because I accidently discovered 'Les Paul and Friends - American Made, World Played" is on shelves NOW. All I can say is WOW! Lots of fun, more of a tribute to the man but he's on it in ways you've never heard before. Rock, Blues, R&B, Soul...like I said, lots of fun for a Les Paul fan. Track Listing: Intro (campy intro from les paul show) Love Sneakin` Up On You - (with Sting/Joss Stone) Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo - (featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd/Edgar Winter/Noah Hunt) Somebody Ease My Troublin` Mind - (featuring Sam Cooke/Eric Clapton) So Into You - (with Peter Frampton) How High The Moon - (with Alsou) Bad Case Of Lovin` You - (with Billy Gibbons) I Wanna Know You - (with Neal Schon/Beth Hart) Good News, (Ain`t That) - (with Jeff Beck/Sam Cooke) Let Me Roll It - (with Richie Sambora) Caravan Good Morning Little School Girl - (with Buddy Guy/Keith Richards/Rick Derringer) All I Want Is You - (with Johnny Rzeznik) 69 Freedom Special Fly Like An Eagle (2005) - (with Steve Miller) I Love You More Than You`ll Ever Know - (featuring Joe Perry/Mick Hucknall/Kenny Olsen)
  18. Right here bud! I shall never doubt you again.
  19. Man!...he's using Fender and Stratocaster in his text body for a template. Wouldn't be possible to slap him for using the term 'Project Guitar' either but wish someone could!
  20. Understandably! Clear as a bell! I’ve worked on tunes that I never finished because they didn’t deserve it (which pretty much encapsulates how you feel..right?). But in reflection I’ve finished songs because of differing perspective that had lain around for years. Doesn’t apply to a guitar, cut wood is cut wood and there are some things you simply can’t edit, it requires a complete do over. Now get me in the studio and I’ll tweak on the same tune forever if I don’t just stop somewhere and call it done!
  21. Well, I finally get the chance to reply and you've wiped the post. But....I still had it in my inbox so... All views and comments noted. Certainly you're not an idiot and I was in no way lecturing (well maybe a little). I would just like to see some of this great stuff get completed! I don't believe since I've been here I've seen you complete a guitar you've shown in progress, I might be mistaken? The first thing that comes to mind is 'Throwing out the baby with the bath water' is usually not the best approach but it's your trip and I'm only along for the ride. So.....best of luck on (Whack) 'Rawhide'!
  22. You should have gone up 95 2 more exits there's a Cracker Barrel Actually the Bob Evans on rt 24 is less than a mile from my house. ← Here's the oddity, my family did Cracker Barrel so many times in Frederick, none of us want it anymore. We saw the sign, we selected the Bob Evans and truthfully, it has improved but I won't go as far as saying it was good. None the less you were thought of, discussed and unfortunately passed over (every time I start babbling about guitars, all my ladies roll da eyes).
