  1. That's news to me. I've been running a duncan live wires classic humbucker with two passive singles for a very long time.
  2. For what it's worth I'm not an ebay junkie but have bought 5 guitar bodies and many parts and hardware so far I have had only one questionable situation and the guy came to the table even then and refunded my money. Follow the instruction given, most cases, they're strait. I even won a strat clone new for $52 and other then replacing the nut (went south quickly) has been a really good strat so, who knows, the price is hard to determine since I'm not familiar with the line. good luck.
  3. That should be a required viewing for all new accounts. Scary, I've worked for health and human services as a media editor, I don't remember that coming across my desk?!?
  4. lgmguitars.com as well, if it's a small job I'd think he's worth givin a shout.
  5. Fantastic first scratch build, bravo Bill bravo!
  6. I'm guessing shipping costs are going to be an issue regardless unless you can find someone locally. I don't know of anyone else who makes these or even a template for that matter. A template or cad version (if there is one) at least could get you the specs to get it cut locally.
  7. Ohh that's a really good suggestion. Very interesting thread though.
  8. I've got a prewired sitting here with the same switch Starting from the neck side of the switch Bridge pickup Middle pickup Neck pickup volume pot volume pot empty tone 1 pot tone 2 pot
  9. sure it does..you just need better headphones to translate it...the "savage beast "setting on the v-amp 2 has more gain than you need... it is well worth the money and has decent reverb as well as some other cool effects Wow I must have been somewhere else, I've never played with the V-AMP, I was referring to their V-Tone combos. Strike my comments.
  10. Well unfortunately I think you're going to run into the same wall I have looking for a practice amp. I played the Behringer and though the multi-effects and being midi controllable in one little box is cool, the distortion left something to be desired. Mind you, I'm a gain maniac and my highest priority is a little amp with huge gain at low volumes. The V's didn't have it. I'm settling for a Line 6 Spider II 30 watt because the distortion is quite good for a little solid state job but I say settling because I was really hoping to get all the multi-effects like the V's or Alesis SpitFire/WildFire. It has some effects but not nearly what I was hoping for. It seems there isn't one self contained amp below $200.00 that has the best of all worlds. My 1 1/2 cents.
  11. ProTools Free Software Documentation for Windows or MAC
  12. Thanks for the video reference, I've eyeballed these but balked at the price. This tread has taken me from 'I'll give it a shot' to 'DON'T TOUCH THAT FRET, YOU'LL KILL IT!' and back to 'Gotta lot to learn.....again'.
  13. Well, if it can't import a general midi (.mid) file than it's not a very good tool. lol. Like I said, protools free. Most sequencers can import .mid files. I'd say all can but appearently not.
  14. Mmmmmmm... These are my pickups of choice. Picked them over EMG's in the same guitar a long time ago..used em ever since.
  15. ProTools Free from Digidesign is FREE! at www.digidesign.com. This package is the industry standard pro studio environment. The free version is extremely capable. I use it to do midi tracks on one laptop and then port them over to the ProTools environment for audio tracking. Only drawback is it will not run under Windows 2000 or XP. I always run two partitions anyways (Windows 2000 and 98se) so it works perfectly well for moble needs. Nuts and bolts of midi. A PORT or BANK contains 128 midi PATCHES. A PATCH is a SOUND (piano for example) that is assigned a number 0-127 and has multiple PARAMETERS and NOTES. PARAMETERS are just that, they adjust panning, volume, attack, decay..etc. MIDI NOTES (the pitch played) are assigned numbers as well within the PATCH. I've been working with midi since the mid 80's. You won't understand everything over night, but if you do some google searches on 'MIDI BASICS', I'm sure you'll find everything you would possibly need to know. Good luck... BTW...shouldn't this be in the off topic area?
  16. You'll probably want to wait about a month. I've heard Acrylics still being soft after a month. The big clue, if it still smells, it's not ready yet. Otherwise, use the search feature here. Questions like this are often asked.
  17. Geezzz, I forgot, I've had the same set of Blue Steels on my bass since 1991.
  18. It's a good idea if it's replaced frequently. Those things only work for a short period before the get saturated and loose their ability to absorb.
  19. wow that's strange you feel that way about boomers Wes?!? I've used them forever just for that reason, they don't break. I agree, you should be able to pretty much bottom out the bar on the body, even though new springs often need a little stretchin before trusting it to stay in tune afterward.
  20. If well kept and not frequently used, strings can last a very long time. One of my rarely used guitars (I call it POS) has had the same set of strings on it for three years now. But....that's not really a good idea.
  21. Strings 'a few weeks' are more then overdue for a string change. What is the cause of the strings rusting. Humid environment? Put the guitar in a case when not used. Sweat and Grime from playing. ALWAYS wipe the guitar down after playing. Occationally wipe the strings down with lighter fluid to remove body oils and grime.
  22. The question I have is are you using the fiber filter they usually supply (light blue filter) or just the regular filter (grayish) which is intended for water. The blue filter will filter down to a finer micron of dust but still sometimes dust is finer then even that filter.
  23. YOU WHAT!!! You didn't throw away the body you've all ready cut have you??? GF, for what it's worth I just wanted to say your strat project impacted many of us greatly. I've done searches finding posts by you a year ago asking similar questions I would need to ask now. Asking these questions only a year ago and look what you can do!!! WOW, EXTREMELY ENCOURAGING to us inexperienced wannabees! GuitarMaestro produced a great guitar and very worthy of winning this months GOTM...Congratulations Dude!
