  1. Nope, not going to thailand, it's been perhaps moved to this SUMMER. But we'll see. Chris
  2. yup, that's all exactly what I htought... but wanted to make sure. so what DO they attach the table sanding drums to? Chris
  3. 1) Ok, so my question, is how bad an idea is it to attach like... a robo-sander to a one speed router?? I know it says they're for press drills but I don't have such luxery. Actually, doesn't have to be a robo-sander, could be an circular sander type thing... like what matt's using here on his violin sides: So... router attachable?? 2) Also, I use fordom burrs every now and then for shaping, adn the other day I saw a BIG fordom burr with a 1/4" shank... that's a router sized shank! not a dremel one! Is it just me, or is attaching a huge burr to your router and holding the router freehand to carve with a big burr like that an accident waiting to happen?? Chris
  4. Work has now begun on the neck. Here's a picture of the truss rod channel I just routed. Yeah, I know there's a mistake, but since it's not at the END of the channel, and it's only in the first pass (ie: it only goes half the depth of the channel) it shouldn't effect the working of the truss-rod, and it'll be covered up by the fingerboard. Here's a link to the blank that I have for the neck, with the scarf and the added thickness for the heel block, etc. Glued Neck Blank Pic More after Christmas Chris
  5. Hahahaha, I'll have to agree with setch on this one. No one's gunna wanna put in some hard work for you to cop off as your own, cash or not. Well... actually, I know one person that might. His name is Warmoth... you might know his website, www.warmoth.com lol. Other than that, I dunno where you're gunna get a neck and body with a blank headstock. Chris
  6. One Million Dollars!!! (*pinky to lips like Dr. Evil*)
  7. OK, so I'm back... well have been for awhile, but been to lazy to upload. So here's the body all glued up... but it still needs the sides to be sanded flush, etc. That's all for now folks, Chris
  8. Thanks Ron, it's not often that I see you post on here, so to get a reply from you's a real treat. It's amazing the simple ideas you pass over, I hadn't even thought "duh i can file down the edges to make them fit better". Either way, I hope to one day do it with blood jasper, which has some nice black webbing which should make that whole "black epoxy to hide joints" idea pretty good. Or is that not a good idea to try out (the epoxy). A tutorial of purfling with recon stone would be a nice add (cause i think all we got is one for shell... which is pre-cut for this, and breaks/blends a little better I imagine) Hint hint anyone??? Chris
  9. I came across this Thorn guitar and noticed something: Guitar In Question It has blue, like recon stone style blue, purfling? How's that done, I know you can do it with pearl, etc. and crack it along the way to go in the holes... but on stone wouldn't the cracks be really noticable?? Chris
  10. Hey, there's a banner on that site for "www.paintyourownguitar.com" He has "eBooks" on painting things like the zakk wylde guitars, etc. Anyone ever read/used these books? Any good? Cause I'm freaked about my future needs to paint so any help I can get... Chris
  11. Sorry, I noticed after I loaded it, but was already late for something. I'm gunna edit it to a URL and warn everyone they're big files.
  12. Here's pics for the hollowbody I ordered from them, he sent me a CD with pics for this one, the solid body you'll have to wait tell I take my own pics. WARNING! Pictures are VERY big. Do Not Click! if you've got slow internet or don't wanna wait. Guitar A Pic of my guitar being CNCed A pic of what type of hollow design it has Another full guitar pic As of right now, the only thing I have to complain about this guitar is it came set with the action a litle TOO low, ie: some fret buzz, but that's just gunna take me raising the bass string side of the T-O-M. Oh, and there was a little like... id unno what it is, scuff I guess on the INSIDE wood part of the reccessed input jack. But no biggy. Other than that, like I've been saying,t hese things ROCK. Chris
  13. yup, I'm pretty sure it does. But honestly, you should be able to look at a wood and see if it needs grain filling. cause you'll see the size of the grain. I personally have never worked with it, and don't plan to, so I COULD be wrong.... but I don't think I am. Chris
  14. I will agree things have gone downhill a little since my original joining... Whether it's cause It's without Wes.... or something else, i dunno
  15. I FINALLY GOT MY TWO KRITZ GUITARS! I know ya'll have been asking alot each time I mention them whether they're any good or not, etc. And they play AMAZINGLY. It feels SO nice. I'll elaborate later when I'm not in class, and I'll post photos with them also. Tune-in, Chris
  16. I was at the hobby lobby yesterday and saw "silver leaf" you just rub the stuff on ANY surface. And it'd EASILYT do that. HOWEVER, I'd clear coat over it afterward of course too. Chris
  17. finally got all the stuff for the top done! here's it being glued Chris I'll post pics of it outta the clamps and such when i get back from thanksgiving break and take it out of them (I figure if I can, might as well just leave it clamped for a longer time ) PS: The tutorial BOOK is coming along nicely.
  18. Ok, so stew mac's hot rods are REAL easy, hense why a lot of people like them. HOWEVER, to make it even easier they offer a bit that does the width of the dado (7/32" which I find to be a WEIRD cutting diameter). However,t hey charge $20 for that bit! Well, I just found that www.routerbits.com has a 1/4" shank, 7/32" cutting diameter bit made especially for dadoing for $13! What a steal! So I thought I'd share. Chris
  19. On eBay Now Ok, so yeah, it's in the US... but it's still only a buy it now of $925. HOWEVER, I'm guessing you're not in the US from all the pound signs... AND this guy only ships to the USA. But hey, if you REALLY wanna get it, I'll help you out, cause I'm kinda interested to play this bad boy. So if you need somewhere to send it in the US and for someone to then forward it on to you in the UK, you can use me. If you want, we can exchange addresses, and figure out some way of ensuring mutual safety in this, etc. PM me if you want the help. Chris
  20. That's a guitar by a guy named "Bond". The model I don't even think had a name. It was just called the Bond guitar. And as for the keypad... I dunno, but that thing on the upper part of the body, when looking down in an alpha-numeric display that displays I THINK, depending on what you klast pressed, the pickup combination, or volume, or tone value. Coo guitar... didn't do well though, went out of production VERY fast. Chris
  21. I know the feeling! I just cut the hole in my top for the 5-way blade.... and for the life of me I can't find my superswitch! and I JUST bought it and saw it the other day! And those aren't cheap!!! Chris
  22. hahahahaha, you people are SO unpredictable, that's what everyone HATED and critisized mercilously from the start lol Chris
  23. that makes that guitar look SO much better! Bitchin' idea! Chris
  24. GGGGAAAAARRRRHHHH!!!!! is it normal that EVERY step you tkae something STUPID happens?!?!?! I wanted the sides of my f-hoeles to be black like the cavity.... so i taped them off from the front with masking tape, and shot from the back. but paint STILL bled through?! I'm gunna be spending FOREVER getting rid of the bleed through!!! Chris
  25. if you needa give away some of those guitar sized pecan blanks.... you know where to find me Chris
