if your just gonna use a rattle can you might want to go with something a little finer than 600 other wise you may get sanding scratches showing through,.

if you don't ever combine your birdge pickup with your middle then you could just put a set the selector swtich up so that the bridge middle position isnt active then you wont have to worry about mixing active and passive. just another cheapass idea form me. im full of them.

well thanks for the replies. i kinda thought it was too easy to not have been done already and didn't really think it out like i said it popped in my head after reading the other transformer thread. thanks guys oh btw i have looked at the sustainer thread before yall are way above my head on that one and i went to school (be it 10 years ago) for electronics.

ok i was reading the wacky transformer thread and this popped in to my head so would it be possible? wind a pick up with two windings we will call them a output and input, though they would most likely be identical. the output would be split and run in ot a preamp (that would go to your amp) I think the out put on this would be fairly weak so it would need some kind of op amp. the other sid of the out put would run in to anther amplifier that would be run in to the input coil im thinking (and i get in to a lot of trouble trying to think) that the pick up would act like a transformer allowing you to to have a controlled feedback loop. well does it sound like it would work? by the way sorry for my horrible spelling and grammer never my strong point.

Wow thats a sweet lp i don't even really like lp's but if i had the 700 to spare it would be mine wow what a gorgous guitar. personaly i think you need to finish it and keep on with the original idea. I mean i don't even dream of building something like that any one can build a bolt on neck flat top guitar but it takes talent and skill to build what you have almost completed. don't give up the dream and don't sell yourself short if you want to build some quick cheapies for you buddies thats cool but let it be known that you can build some really nice high end pieces too.

if he just worked over the chrome it will take a little while for it to really start to show remember there is shiny silver metal under there that needs to tarnish alittle to if you try to tget that too soon you will end up going over board. any way nice job i don't really like these relic jobs where it lookes like the guitar has been to hell and back.

i had a similar idea a while back take a "strat" and relic it up then yank the pick gaurd off and put a piezo bridge in it then rout the back for a transmiter would make a interesting stage piece imagin walking out on stage with a guitar that has no electronics no cables and start playing. well since im not any kind of player much less one that is good enough to be on stage it stayed an idea.

the caps (the ones that really bite) look like little coke cans with two wires coming out. you might want to go find some books on electronics and learn some basics like ohms law and a few other things befor you get too deep.

you might try a power Attenuator just run make a output on the back of the amp and run a 1/4" jack for a quick hookup then you can just buy an the right headphones 4,8,16 ohms

probably because its gloss and feels slick, and he wants it to feel more smooth and less dragging. isnt refinishing a little drastic couldn't he just go over it with some 600 grit and knock some of the shine off?

if you are wanting true chrome you could pre make a steel form then once you got it right take it off and send to to the chrome shop.

cnc does not mean perfect far from it a cnc is only as good as its operator. that said damn i could go down to a gauge shop and have a plane made for less than what that guy is charging
