  1. you are missing the threaded inserts by the sounds of things.
  2. DO NOT USE A GUITAR LEAD! it'll work for a short time but it its pretty stupid. but yes power cable will work perfectly so well that recording studios use it to wire up the mixing room monitors and you don't really get more demanding than that for quality!
  3. I'm no expert but aslong as the holes line up I fail to see why its not possible. you'll need a new nut though.
  4. my first one was 'house of the rising sun' then 'itchycoo park' then 'sweet home alabama' and 'Here comes the sun' and lots and lots of punk songs (the real kind not the crappy modern stuff)
  5. there was another acoustic maybe swedish luthiers? well done daniel it got my vote. and well done everybody else you all did better than I do (must finish something one day!)
  6. wes you seem to double post nearly everytime so i'd put the figure at about 9000 plus a few more for those rare occasions you actually talk sense
  7. This is why you should try out the axes that you are looking at before buying. Most people like the Pacifica, but obviously Maiden didn't get on with it. You're a lot more likely to pick up the guitar and play with it if it's one that you really enjoy playing. You could buy a £2000 PRS, but if you don't get on with it you're less likely to pick it up. I'd visit as many shops as possible and play as many guitars as possible so that you get a feel for what you like. It wont take long before you start to firm up ideas. what he said
  8. weld a slightly off centre lump of metal to it and bolt it to your bed and take the missus to pleasure town.
  9. Dan just to put your mind at rest I don't use a pick on acoustics very often and even then it would be a faithfull 88. you know I shudder to think how many picks I've lost but I still have like three original ones that I always find under/in the sofa or wedged in the dyson!
  10. I don't really think about picks creditcards coins folded paper fingernails finger tips palm of my hand etc have all been used by me! I do really like the tiny jim dunlops that are clear and the easiest pick to lose in the whole wide world!
  11. "Note: For those of you not familiar with American money, the coin above is what we call a "Quarter". It is what our dollar is worth." That is possibly ounce for ounce the mst expensive thing you own wez!
  12. there is always the yamaha pacifica i wish i'd started on one of those!
  13. why would you get excited about any metallica album they are just not that great! make sure you turn me over so i don't get burnt on one side!
  14. you could just employ someone to stand at your headstock and twiddle the tuners! where did i get the name dan armstrong? I meat dan erlewine obviously!
  15. in dan armstrongs book he shows a double one that operates the b and the g(i think) each operate off one of the strap buttons. I reckon for experiment the lever attached to the bender its self (the small flat one) could be rotated 90 degrees and extended to sit out of the end of the guitar. and for really early prototype it could sit flush to the back of the guitar on a slightly longer shafty. if thats not clear i could knock something up.
  16. one tip though! don't then use it on a dress shirt for a wedding!
  17. That's what I did when a truss rod broke, now that I read this I guess I sisn't do the iron thing long enough, but after I got thetruss rod out I attached a piece of wood to the back of the neck and ran it through a planer no problems at all. the beauty of using the iron is that it makes no mess and I can'e see it taking anylonger than firing out the powertools!
  18. I did wonder about ash but I'm never really sure.
  19. those picture are pretty spesh:) I have no clue really so I'll guess oak for the top one and elm for the bottom! When I said I had no clue I wasn't lying I just thought it would be fun to guess!
