  1. Hey if your looking for something to do those two days and happen to be able to travel I highly recommend dropping by Jemfest, there will be plenty of Bands, Door Prize's and of course Guitars! The best part is the price, totally donation so yeah free if your poor or please drop something into the bucket cause it is for a very valid and good cause! Pleanty of rooms still available and of course I'll be there as well.......... Brand new Project Guitar.com shirts will be available (not yet available online) for a small set donation and if you mention the forum you can score one for 1/2 price! Those are always a limited run item and the first run had a spelling error which has been corrected so if ya got it you have a collectors item, hope to see some of you there and by all means if you have a guitar bring it! Your more then welcome to play during the after show jams in the rooms or display your pride and joy for all to see
  2. Congrad's toddler68 that was a true landside victory!
  3. Well you should be able to buy red laquer if thats what you want to use, what your going to have to ask yourself first is what kind of area and equiptment you have to paint it with such as a gun or will you need to do it with rattle cans or brush on...........
  4. I'm flying out of town till Tuesday but e-mail me your address Antihero, I'm pretty sure I have a set of studs for that kit I can get in the mail for you when I get back so you can complete it I do make it in here to have a look around when work will let me
  5. I've had the same problem in the past myself and while it would be nice not to have them the only conclusion I came up with was to fill them with droplets of clearcoat before I actually starting the clearing process. Maybe because I have patience and a fine haired brush, but anyway sanding down till they dissapear wasn't an option for me cause that would ruin the pattern or take a chance on having to start all over on a killer paint job because of sand through marks. The droplets of clearcoat actually built them up higher so after a good long dry and a few spray coats of clear it was much easier to smooth and level bumps down for me over trying to level down to the bottom of pits.
  6. Well I was actually scheduled to be in New Zealand this year at that time which would have meant I would miss it but as problems and changes occur it looks like it's thong time once again! wOOt This time though I'll be much better prepaired then last year, whoa started out with great intentions and dropped the ball helping out the first day Hummmmmm to stay at the hotel n party or? Ahh thats a no brainer
  7. Actually the Stew Mac tang nipper at $39.95 is nothing more then a modified sheet metal nibbler cutting tool. What they did was have the manufacturer file a slot on the end so that the crown of the fret wire would slide in. If you have one close by you can get an unmodified version and file the groove yourself at Ace Hardware for $26.99 or if you would rather pay shipping and wait you can score one from Isham's for $20.95 Just remember to file the groove in the right place because the Stew Mac version is held upside down
  8. More 1 cent (starting out) items added tonight!
  9. Couldn't you do the same thing and skip the paste wax but use wax paper instead? I think acylic would be much stiffer though cause bondo does have the ability to remain somewhat flexable depending on how you mix it.
  10. Thread Closed, Just way to off topic allready and may he rest in peace, I didn't know him and nope I'm not catholic either, just human
  11. Radius sanding block for one to bring the two different woods down to a nice level but I would use one of the longer ones such as an 8"
  12. Over the next week or two I will be putting in items starting at 1 cent with no reserve that many of you might be interested in. Click here for my Ebay Store, good luck!
  13. Probably a small air brush for starters.......
  14. Welcome to the forum SouthPawBrent I don't see why you couldn't as long as your recovering the entire surface..
  15. A little better explanation such as "Fender Stratocaster Neck Plate 50 Anniversary New!" might be better in your post's so people know what your showing of interest.
  16. Welcome to the forum Steve-0 Looks like you certainly have been doing your research and your dads collection of tools is definately a bonus! The sanding sealer helps close the grain for finishing. Some not all of them will take a stain so you might want to consider doing the stain first. It's also great that you practiced on a spare board for the scalloping....
  17. Are there any wood shops around the island? Some that make cabinets or something simular, would be a good place to have the basic's cut if you can draw up a plan for them. They might have a good deal on wood as well since they probably have to import large quantitys to begin with.
  18. Well you cetainly could enter it since it is a stringed instrument but in reality it isn't a guitar. Course every now and then a Bass sneeks in from time to time but they have more simular qualitys to a guitar (just my opinion).
  19. I've seen a nice oak LP before but I'll have to admit it was a heavy beast.........
  20. Make sure you have a NAPA tool shop close by or some other machine shop if your going to buy once since the bar which comes down doesn't have a hole drilled in it to hold the Stew Mack tool which holds the brass fret culls for setting those frets. The cost is minimal to have it done, great price
