  1. the first one reminds me of a firebird, with the extra sharp lower horn on it...like it a lot. the second one has the same characteristics, except the lower horn reminds me of a jackson kelly...
  2. reminds me of the gibson moderne a bit...pretty cool looking beast, i'd definately like to see this one made...
  3. that is beautiful godin...absolutely beautiful. can't wait to see that thing done, all sanded and shiny and nice...beautiful dye job, and a great looking body as well...
  4. just play it...you'll wear it off in a matter of time, and then it'll truly be a natural wear spot. if you try and take the paint off, you'll end up taking off the original paint as well, and creating a fake looking spot...
  5. i think a black and sand, then a nice blue burst would look most excellent...especially if you do it ala guitarfrenzy, with the whole body a nice shade of blue, and just a touch of black around the outside edges...that would be my personal choice. but good looking work, looks quite clean and well done throughout...congrats
  6. man, if i were you, i'd keep the guitars the way they are...testament to the strength of the axes obviously, you'd have to redo the electronics, and reglue the fretboard back onto the neck of the second guitar, but otherwise, i'd let the guitars dry out for a looong time, and toss everything back together...make it sort of a EDITTED you to Katrina...
  7. entering in GOTM never hurts...hell, you might win. the entire guitar looks great...as i said in your first thread, i think you should have left the finish a satin yellow, but the guitar looks good all nice and shiny like it is...understated, but still great looking axe.
  8. well, you can always nitro the neck, and oil the body... i like the natural character of the wood, and the stuff down the bottom adds something to the bass to make it look really natural...
  9. you could make one out of sheet metal with 8 things like that, if you wanted to. just gotta take the metal, cut out slots, and bend them... just gotta make sure you file everything down and sand them smooth, so they dont cut through the string...
  10. very sleek bass...very sleek. like the look of it a lot. got any full body shots?
  11. check out www.reranch.com for their information on finishing. they say to use 2 cans of clear, and 1 of color. if you're doing a stain, obviously, disregard the color idea. but it was my understanding that alder did need to be filled...i could be entirely wrong, but that's what i thought...
  12. that's a beauty if i've ever seen one. i love the finish on that...the open grain makes it look a lot different then the others i've seen...
  13. ooooh...that's gonna be nice....very nice...love the design on it, and the top is killer
  14. donald, that is beautiful. i'd love to get a chance to play that...can't wait to watch what you come up with after this one...
  15. drak, i think i'm in love. that thing looks absolutely amazing. the burst looks great, and the dye/sand on the flame down the bottom makes it look great. i gotta say that that's pretty much the only tele i've ever seen that i've drooled over. beautiful work.
  16. i quite like the little paua inlay at the bottom, but i gotta say i'm not a big fan of the aluminum on the horn. if you were to just paint it flat black and have that little splash of color from the paua, that'd look absolutely killer, in my humble opinion.
  17. if i remember correctly they used air conditioning stuff...i forget the name, but it's some stuff that comes out freezing cold, and when it's sprayed on the body, it checks really natural looking. anyways, relics are cool. remember to scuff the paint behind the bridge with a phillips screw driver, and get the cigarette burn on the headstock... also make sure to wear the neck out enough, and use a piece of black died leather, and rub it all over the neck. it'll make it look really authentically worn.
  18. drak, tha's looking beautiful man. i love the body shape, and i love the look of the inside. you've got enough carved out to be a really nice acoustic kind of sound, but you've still got the strength for the floyd rose. lookin great.
  19. that is a very cool piece of maple... is the shape drawn on there going to be the shape you use? that'd be really cool if it was...looks a lot like my es-125...
  20. my honest opinion for the finish would be this. fill the grain light, and do a deep gray(or black) stain on top. it'd be cool if the grain came out speckled...but that's just me, and if i'm right, the grain would just be the color of the stain...a black grain filler with a satin clear on top would be cool too...but again, that's just me...
  21. the finish on the back of the neck/headstock area helps to keep moisture out, thus helping to eliminate the chance of warping/cracking of the wood. and you dont need to finish ebony, it's like rosewood...no need to finish it.
  22. that...is...amazing. such a good color and execution...beautiful.
  23. the body you guys were thinking of the is fender tc-90. semi-hollow, and 2x p-90 style pickups. http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0262300561 check it out.
  24. if you've ever seen the movie dogma, that guitar looks like an ilequipt angel. like the body shape, but i'm not a big fan of the octave stringsnice looking ash too...
  25. yeah, it looks like the neck pocket is crooked on the m-II. i betcha it's just the angle it's pictured at, but it dont look right. also, the flame pattern on the SG, is that going to be carved out a little, or are you getting ideas for finishing? either way, it'd be cool...finish would look better though, rather than a cut out.
