  1. I actually bought it off ebay. So would taking the back off really hurt the sound?
  2. Hey guys, I just got my new amp (Marshall MG100DFX) and its a closed back amp. The back board (dunno the technical name for it) seems to be causing a loud rattling. I tried tightening the screws but it didn't help much. Could I take the back off? Would it hurt it the sound? What's the point of these back paltes anyway? BTW, sorry if this is the wrong forum, it really doesnt fit in anywhere.
  3. I'm pretty sure 1+2 is 3, not 4, bud. lol. Yeah doesn't getting a new amp kill? Even if its a sucky amp, as long as its better than the one you had, OMG its the best feeling lol.
  4. I'm currently planning to build a distortion unit for my first stompbox. I was wondering which distortion units you guys liked most. But, don't JUST vote, if you have the time, tell us what qualities you guys like?
  5. yeah, i dunno about the 6 pots, I think I'll have a master v and master tone, and then a dist. gain, and dist volume and have it like a normal LP/ SG setup. Well, I might actually just end up building a pedal instead because things can end up getting too complicated pretty fast. Plus this is my first circuit board design so I don't wanna try anything too complicated. BTW, LK, what does hard-clipped mean?
  6. POS stands for peice of stinky stuff (the "s" word) well, i dunno why im worried someone posted the "f" word on the first page.
  7. thanks, I was actually thinking about using the BSIAB II on general gadgets, or the tubescreamer also on the general site instead of the coron.
  8. Ok, so I've been searching around for some stuff about electronics. I'm starting to get it, circuits, schematics, diagrams, stomp boxes, etc. My project I wanna do is an onboard distortion switch on a guitar. It would have LP style wiring (2 HB, 2v, 2t, 3 way switch) and a Coron Distortion 10 circuit with, a gain, and volume knob on it. Basically what I did was took a schematic of both, and connected the two. I basically need a proof reader as I'm not as electronically coordinated as some people on the forum **cough** lovekraft **cough** ansil **cough** saber **cough.** heres my schematic warning, very large picture ahead, click at your own risk link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v461/gle...ghschematic.jpg (LP Diagram courtesy of FlatEarth Guitars http://www.flatearthguitars.com/Gibson_Les...-_2_Pickup.jpg) (Coron Distortion 10 schematic courtesy of www.diystompboxes.com http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/dist10.gif) My other question is, does anyone know of any big pros/cons with doing onboard distortion stuff? Any big speed bumps?
  9. most people use quarter sawn for the neck, its more relevent then.
  10. go to john tirones site, do a search for him on the forum, and if its in a subpage, click "Home" on the bottom, and he has some pretty cool stuff about building a lot of electronic stuff (amps, pickups, guitars, etc.) not necessarily tutorials, but very informative.
  11. I like the cherry sunburst, it looks good with the inlays.
  12. I do it also, although I'm not going to anymore because it slips around in the slot of the saddle too much and and I can't lower the bridge as far.
  13. not to hijack but I didn't want to starta new thread, on one of the schematics on that site. (http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/SupaSustain.gif) it has 2 things going to an 18v power supply, does this mean, that they both go to a single 18v power supply or they each have their own 18v power supply?
  14. Fill the pocket with wood like erik said. Then fill the mounting screw holes with dowells, then with bondo or putty for the recessment. Then rerout the pocket. Then re drill the holes.
  15. Eve? LOL thats Vee scrambled. At first I thought it was typo. Great guitar jehle.
  16. I was really suprised for who I voted for this month. The day we started voting for last months gotm, I was positive I would be voting on draks. But then I saw jehles vee and i had to. its great man. good job jehle.
  17. tell them the truth, that your into guitar building and could really use the crap they don't need.
  18. hey in that link, the schematic has a bunch of stuff grounded, where would it be grounded to?
  19. i got on and posted a reply and noticed it wasnt checked, I might start accidently checking it from reflex now
  20. I dunno why but I can't stand any fender gutiars. so my choice was obviously mr. les paul.
  21. I actually thought about doing the chain idea, and I never thought about that slide idea. Thanks LK. But one thing I'm thinking about, wouldn't the values of the pots clash between active and passive pickups? A thing to avoid that I thought about, was having a "passive in", "passive out", "active in", and "active out." And have 2 different circuits for each. But that site you gave said the guy used a 10k pot, so I guess it doesn't matter after it goes through the output jack?
