  1. no if the addvice is crap......experiance i reckon ......you can't go round thinking you've got the chops because you've got +100 comments ....too bad irony doesn't work on the internet...
  2. Why didn't you sand the burn marks off?`And there's a tutorial on burnt finish on the main site as well...
  3. Just swirl the whole guitar, then mask of the middle and paint the back and front
  4. Are you making a dozen polka dot vee's?
  5. If it's further consolation I just ordered a copy...
  6. Illustrator would be way better. Disagree...Illustrator is great for generating a shape using bezier curves, but for getting it scaled properly to actually build a guitar off of, nothing could be easier than using a raster image. 300 = 1". Piece of cake. Now he could scan the drawing, import to illustrator, and then create the bezier curves over the top of it to give it a good clean outline, then import to photoshop for scaling. That's what I would do. But in my post I was only referring to the 'scaling' aspect of things, not the 'design' aspect. ¨ I must still disagree, for scaling vector-based wins hands down. The beauty of vector-based graphics is that you can scale them all you want without loosing quality, with photoshop you'll end up with a blurry image.
  7. I've had nothing but good experience with the shipping from GuitarFetish (Dom skrev ner värdet så ja slapp tull me..) Always arrived in 3 days pretty much.
  8. Thanks but that is a bit more than I need right now. I have a stash of magnets/pole pieces that should last the rest of the year with the current amount of work. But I can make you a sweet deal for a pair of HBs, coil cutting, non-adjustable pole pieces (the remains when winding this and his brother). I know it’s not the same thing but it is the closest thing I can do for you PM me if you are interested BTW Is it you that is getting married? If so: congrats man! 62 bucks? Must be something wrong with the system... What shipping did you select btw?
  9. I read an article somewhere that the parts would cost around 250-300K (swedish crowns? so that would be aroun 30-40K I guess for parts. I'm not shure what the entire budget is.
  10. Not this year, but I probably will be in two years. I build my guitars at the school workshop right now and I share that workshop with the formula guys, shure looks like a lot of fun, and their car looks amazing. Do you know if you'll be up against any european universities at all?
  11. Are you going to be competing in formula student with this?
  12. For price/money I don't think you can actually beat the blowout deals that guitarfetish have right now. A full set of strat pickups for 18 bucks...I mean come on
  13. I was just using the numbers on the questions in the original post when I replied. The number before the answer in my post corresponds to the number of the question asked in the original post.
  14. I'm really no expert on this, and with the internet you know that all information can't be trusted. So I might be wrong, and the captions might be reveresed, however wouldn't the one that is actually chopped up into quarters most likely be called quartersawn?
  15. That's not quartersawn...that's riftsawn
  16. The B string goes to the tuner furthest from the nut, as in the Fodera Extended B setup: I also got in trouble for cutting out that horn, apperently it;s going to be tough to finish. I don't mind doing extra work, and if anyone hsa any advice on spraying or sanding it that would be much appreciated. Thanks. Wouldn't that make the tuning on the B string backwards compared to the others?
  17. Painting a fender logo on a squire wouldn' t be very popular around here though... edit: forgot to mention though....awesome airbrushing skills.
  18. Hey, lookin' good. I was wondering whether the big rout for the tele bridge pickup would spoil the look, but I think it's fine. Would it be too much trouble to ask for a matching headstock? What do you think about it? Does it need a pickguard to provide some contrast? I like it as-is, but like I said before, I'm interested in a discussing ideas. I think a pickguard would be great with a solid color. Right now it looks too plain in my eyes. But Perhaps something simple alá Les Paul junior or something
  19. 1.About fret slotting I'd say buy a slotted fretboard, unless you REALLY want to slot it yourself for some reason. 2.You can use the stew mac templates for a floyd rose, but and your post is suggesting that you might have to read up on templates and how to use them. 3.I don't really understand the concern here since you said you're building a mockingbird.

    Knobs

Do you want separate volumes and tones etc for every pickup, or just master controls? Why not an on/off mini-switch for each pickup, and then master controls for the entire bass?
  21. i dont really use tone at all so having a knob that switches your bridge volume to full blast would be cool. i cant really picture what your saying-- can you make a diagram? thanks for all your help Then why did you want the tone in the first place?... A push/pull that switches to full volume combined with a volume pot does seem very useless....it's probably faster just to turn the knob up than pulling it out. If you want separate volumes but no tone then go with two volume knobs. push/pulls are also quite expensive compared to regular pots
  22. Right now I'm very happy that my parent's live in Australia. I get my mother to pick these up for me and I'll get them all this summer (winter for Perry though). I'm also very happy with the fact that I get to go to Australia every December....gotta love the Gold Coast in summer.
  23. a sealer would be applied before painting... Are you thinking of a clear coat?
