  1. Lol, same old wes. So, now that your old ladies gone, how bout that goat??
  2. Dude, Wes, did you and your wife split up?? I know it's none of my business, or was that a marriage a while ago?? I remember your tutorial with the picture of wood with your wife holding it. Just wondering.
  3. I heard star grounding is the best, but what is it?? My guitar feedbacks like a sucker, les paul into a fender 212. I'm gonna rewire and shield it sometime, but I'd like to do it right. So what's that?
  4. Dude, screw your g/f. If she's greedy, then drop her. It's not worth it to be P-whipped man...
  5. Nice maple. What's the difference between 6100 and 6150??
  6. Okay, I don't know crap about fretting. Sue me
  7. Technically it's not vintage. Isn't vintage 20 years?? That's 19. I'm gonna send ebay an email right now about false advertising Cool shirt BTW
  8. Looks good man, only I'd redo the finish. Just doesn't look well done. Great other than that though. Cool bridge.
  9. Well man, on an sg I don't think that would work. If it would, I'd just put regular binding on. The the carve on the body, I'm just not sure. My friends got an sg, and I'm gonna take a look to see if it's possible. Yeah, that guy's guitar wasn't very good. His pickguard has some problems, and yeah the top suffered pretty bad.
  10. So the easiest way to do it, is kinda like Setch?? Get the outline on pre slotted, radiused, dremel it out. Clean it up with a chisel or whatever. Glue your inlay. File most of it down. Then use your radius block to get it even. Is that about right??
  11. Ok, new request. I'll offer 50 goats and the golden medallion of (Insert name) if anybody can find me a picture of any guitar with a flamed maple top, no binding, and not solid paint on the bevels like that cheating sg supreme. I want to go dyed natural on the sides, but might have to end up doing something like the supreme... EDIT: Okay, I found this http://vintageamps.com/PlexiPalaceUBBcgi/u...c;f=16;t=005545 Doesn't look too bad huh?? Mine would be stained pretty dark, so it'd be way less easy to notice than that?? Still not sure though. Oh well, this gave me a little reassurance that I'm not the only one...
  12. Yeah, I know what you mean on the sg supreme. But I wanna do a natural dyed finish like this. http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/lesp...ages/lpcsvs.jpg My paintjob is gonna be exactly like that, by with a flamed maple top. I'll look more into natural binding..
  13. Thanks for the carvin link, it looks good. And john, what did you mean by being careful??? Just going slow and checking alot?? Also what is the tang and what's a crown. Sorry, I'm just a fretboard tard. Oh, I've also noticed on binded fretboards where the frets are it kinda cuts into the middle of the binding. How do they do that?? Does the binding just get pressed in, or do they cut it, or?? Thanks
  14. Oh, I'll probably just use flat then use coarse grit on the radius block. Thanks for the replies...
  15. You gotta lower your tailpiece all the way. Then string it reverse. It's pretty cool and gives you more sustain. BTW Jimmy Page did it before Wylde
  16. Yeah, I'm by far an expert painter, but would practice my skills on scrap. I just don't know about that faux binding. Does anybody have any other pictures of it, like close up?? Thanks a ton.
  17. See, I've already got the block inlays for 22 frets, and I'm gonna do a neck thru so I'm not worried about strength. Do you like to inlay radius or non radiused boards maiden??
  18. Oh, is faux like natural binding?? So you just mask off the top/back joint and dye the rest?? Then you clear coat it all?? Could look cool, I don't know though. That'd probably be my last option. But it's probably my only option too. I could sell out and go with a veneer Thanks for the link, myka does amazing work.
  19. Okay, new question didn't want to start a new thread. Is it possible to have an sg with a flamed maple top, with natural dyed sides (You can see the grain), and not have it look like crap?? I'm aware that sgs don't have body binding, so how would that work?? Because they have a carved top...
  20. Thanks dude, you seem really cool, helpin out the newb and all Definately enter it in guitar of the month, you have my vote.....
  21. Yeah, definately check into that. I think that guy was too hard on you, lots of peoples first guitars turned out super nice. As long as you have the tools, take your time, and did the research you'll be fine. Do you have any prior woodworking exp??
  22. Extra $30?? If it was their mistake then you don't pay for it..
  23. What's a crown on a fret?? Uhh, I saw his cutaway was on the wrong side, and the finish kinda sucks.. Plus the inlay thing. I don't know crap about frets....
